Small and Fairly Fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for use with my MacBook Pro, since it has USC-C ports, and this drive is a USB-C drive. It comes with a standard USB-3 adapter for use with computers that don't have USB-C. I ran some quick benchmarks on the drive and am getting 290 MB/sec write, 370 MB/sec read. While this pales in comparison to the native SSD built into the 2016 MacBook Pro (2800 MB/sec read/write), it is plenty fast for backing up files for transfer between computers. It is about 3-10 times faster than USB 3 thumb drives and about 40 times faster than USB 2 thumb drives.

Great drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is fast! If you have any reason to use USB-C, this is the perfect way to carry around 1TB of data in a tiny package. It's using much faster PCIe SSDs, so they are about five times faster than older ESATA SSD drives. The only complaint is that USB 3 cables are so big in relation to this drive that they are like the tail wagging the dog. The price is pretty high compared to more conventional drives, but if you want the fastest in the smallest package, this is a contender for sure. It supports second generation USB 3, so it's as fast as first generation Thunderbolt. It's powered by the bus, so no power adapter required. You can't believe how light and small this is until you hold it. Remember, the bigger the SSD drive the faster it is, so don't expect the 256 gig and 512 gig models to be as fast as the 1TB version I have, but any of them are going to be very speedy for their class. Also note it comes with a USB-A adapter so you don't need to buy anything to connect to old school USB ports.

Western Digital's Best Product Yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive is fast, light, small, and tremendously portable. It comes with a sturdy cable and an adapter for computers that have not reached the USB-C standard yet. I have had it for several weeks and except for a minor formatting issue it has performed magnificently.

WD My Passport SSD is a Hit!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast . . Compact . . Light . . Portable Though on the higher end price wise Western Digital has created one of their best products yet. Needed to protect business data and increase transfer and backup speed so I picked this up. Though I suggest making sure that you select the format for maximum speed for your computer and not letting your computer run out of power with the drive attached as I had a corruption problem once when that occurred I did not return the drive. They even give you an adapter if your computer does not have a USB-C port. I highly recommend.

Amazing Drive - Cable Could Be Better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is absolutely amazing! Fast as lightning, durable and super lightweight and portable. This thing is tiny and holds so much! I absolutely love them and want to begin using only SSD External drives like this one for all of my professional video storage needs. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the cable that comes with it. In order to use this drive with a normal USB port on my laptop, I have to use the adaptor that comes with the drive because the cable doesn't connect directly to a normal USB port without an adaptor. The adaptor just adds another link in the chain which disrupts the connection often. That is really annoying and I urge the manufacturer to consider this and send an extra cable that us USB native.

Great drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only reason not to give it 5 stars is price, SSD drives are still overpriced though thankfully they are getting better. I am not a huge fan of the style but I won't knock it for that. The drive is fast, silent of course and very little and light.

Very capable SSD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both this SSD and the Samsung T3 SSD, which is the same price and a direct competitor to the WD SSD. They are both excellent, very fast, high throughput. My only gripe about this drive is that the housing is plastic, is a fingerprint magnet, and when transferring large amounts of data, the drive gets extremely hot. The Samsung is smaller in terms of length and thickness, has an aluminum housing which asa seems to conduct heat better. Heat can be a problem with SSD's because if they get to hot, they will automatically throttle data transfer to cool down. Given that they are the same price, I would give the edge to the Samsung, in terms of build quality, but the WD is excellent as well, and I like that it has a single cable with an included adapter that allows you to switch between type C and usb type A connectors.

Q: QuestionIs there a warranty, and if so, for how long? How long will the data last on SSD? I store a lot of data on external backup spinning drives, and they keep going out after sitting a while. When are the 4Tb ssd drives coming out?

Q: QuestionAnyone ever carbon copy their primary drive to this one and use this a primary boot device?
Asked by cmc5000.
- A:Answer Yes, I used Carbon Copy Cloner and used it as an external boot drive. It worked perfectly. I wish the price on the drive was lower but it's cutting edge right now so it's to be expected. Fantastic Drive!!!
