My Denon AVR-X2100W was having issues working with my modern TV, so I moved it to a strictly audio setup. I bought this one and hooked up some Klipsch bookshelf speakers and my Sony Bravia tv via eArc hdmi. Everything was plug and play and the setup was a BREEZE. Especially compared to something like the Denon. Yes, it is very limited in features, but for ease-of-use and using bookshelf speakers for a tv you don’t need anything more than this. Very handy having auto turn on/off and an eArc connection so I only use my TV remote to operate it. The receiver remote just sits in a cabinet untouched. Great little simple receiver. My Denon receiver would overheat being inside a cabinet, but this one runs nice and cool with zero issues being in an essentially wooden box with no airflow.

I wanted to upgrade my home theatre system. Looked around and decided on the Sony DH 590. I got it open box excellent and saved $75. This reciever is perfect for our medium size living room. Without breaking the bank. I also added a powered sub. This thing rocks. You can definetly spend more and get more options. But at this price point you can’t spend less and get more than this Sony.

Having moved my Sony STR-DH190 stereo receiver and Sony Core speakers to my bedroom, I needed a new receiver and speakers for my home office (man cave by night). For a mid-range receiver, the STR-DH590 is quite nice. I'll point out a few things I like about this receiver. Like the Sony STR-DH190, it has built-in Bluetooth. As such I can easily pair it with my iPhone and stream music. It also has plenty of audio inputs. I connected my three computers to it via RCA cables. It’s easy to switch between them using the handy Sony remote. The DH590 also has an optical audio TV input to which I connected my Sony Full Array LED 4K TV for amazing theater sound. I paired my Sony receiver to a pair of Polk Monitor XT-20 bookshelf speakers for a straight 2-channel setup. For a budget bookshelf speaker, the XT-20 rocks! Having 6.5” woofers, the Polk XT-20 pumps out impressively clean bass you can feel. The XT-20 is Hi-Res Audio certified. Detail and imaging from this model of speaker are truly remarkable. On my Sony DH590 receiver, Music “Enhancer” sound mode equalization help balance the sound, boosting the mid-range and treble. Overall, I’m loving my Sony STR-DH590 receiver!
