As soon as the JLab Epic Work ANC Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones arrived I wanted to check them out since I already have JLab earbuds and they sound great, and I think now the headset have been better than I expected. Right out of the box I like the packaging since it is recyclable, and it also looks nice. Then the overall look of the headphones looks modern and cool with its matte finish. The docking station as well as the headphones go well together too. I have worn the headphones all day due to the cloud foam comfort and since I do use them to take calls as well as listen to my music. I have been able to do that because they can be connected to two different devices, and I can jump from one another and that includes my laptop, computer, cell phone and more. And the docking station can be used to charge the headphones or and also to use to connect using the dongle that is included to my pc. I really like the battery life the set gets, up to 90 hours with ANC off and with ANC on it is less at 60 hours yet that is more than enough for me. And when I am taking breaks, or I step away I can either take them with me or set them on the docking station so they can fast charge them. As for the way they work, they do a job well done, while making calls, the noise cancelling enhances the quality of the call and the people at the other end of the call can hear me well and when I want to mute the mic, all I have to do is raise or flip the mic. When I am at down time and I want to listen to music, videos, podcasts and more, the JLabs do a good job with different sounds. The ANC is good, not the very best since the headphones are not over the ears, I can still hear some of my surroundings, but they do reduce a lot of noise. The aware mode is also good since I can listen to what I want while being aware. I already had the JLab application for my JLab earbuds, and I have been enjoying it for different reasons like being able to access different functions such as turn ANC on/off, hear yourself, equalizer, button controls, call controls, safe hearing, check for updates, and more. And each one of these can be customized. Also, in the app there are nine ambient sounds, such as wind, rain and that can be relaxing, I can listen to one or all at the same time or combine the ones I like. I can also see the control guide, so I do not need to look for the manual to know how to use them. It can even take me to the JLab store. Overall, The JLab Epic Work ANC Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones have been great for every day all day use. Comfortable, great sound and call quality making days more productive and something less to worry about. Working from home has been enhanced with them. I can access both of my JLab earbuds and headphones with the same application.

Let me start off by saying I have a lot of tech devices and the JLab Epic Work ANC is one of my top 5 picks for my favorite devices of 2024. I will go into detail about why I made this bold statement down below. I am considered a Hybrid worker. I work from home 60 percent of the work week. All my meetings are all online which requires a headset when I’m working remote and in the office. I needed to use 2 different headsets since my super expensive earbuds were limited in the battery department and I had to keep manually disconnecting and reconnecting them from my work laptop and from my phone while listening to podcasts and music. Enter the JLab Epic Work headphones. These bad boys solved all my issues. 2 in 1 docking system One of the coolest features of owning the headphones is having the docking system. The dock allows the headphones to have a place to reside without taking up too much desk space at all. Not only is the dock capable of housing the Epic Work headphones, it has the ability to charge, and connect instantaneously to the device when the dongle is connected to the dock. You have the ability to use the USB-C dongle to connect directly to your devices or directly to the dock. Bluetooth The only issue that I ran into was the dock and headset having only USB-C wires and inputs. My work laptop only has one USB-C port, so I needed to use and USB-C to USB type A cable to plug the dock into my computer. Ater testing different setups, I found out the best solution for me is to use Bluetooth instead of using the dock or the dongle. The reason is the ability to use Bluetooth multipoint. Now I can have both my phone and work computer connected to my headphones simultaneously without the need of frequently disconnecting both. I can’t recommend using this feature enough. This has saved me from all the hassles of carrying separate headsets for work and personal uses. JLab App I have an Android so I was able to download the JLab mobile app directly from the Google Play Store fairly easy. I created an account and logged in and registered my device. I was then able to download the latest firmware for the headset. I recommend downloading the mobile app as there are several features and enhancements that the app brings. Noise canceling works really well in my testing, its able to block out televisions and people talking fairly easily. Be aware mode gives a certain level of comfort to hear your surroundings, and hear yourself mode allows you to monitor your own voice while on a call. The equalizer is pretty good. I did use the burn-in tool and turned the volume up halfway as suggested. Running this test allowed me to test the battery life on the headphones as well. I was super impressed with the number of hours/days the headphones lasted. The app also allows you to change/update the button functions for ease of use as well. Conclusion I’m really happy with the JLab Epic work headset. I actually plan on buying another set for work. I recommended this headset to most of my co-workers and family. This headset has so many features with a multi-function dock that comes with an ultra-affordable price. I recommend this headset to anyone who wants a great headset for budget conscious shoppers. I also recommend this headset or the ultra-high-end shoppers as well. Why spend more when you can get more for less.

Video conferencing post the COVID pandemic has become very routine. Once an occasional event, I typically currently attend about ninety nine percent of meetings and trainings in this manner for my professional duties. In light of the aforementioned, it is paramount that headsets required for these interactions be functional, comfortable and robust as they can possibly while providing value. Having previously been very reluctant of headsets with booms, I find myself continually impressed by JLAB’s Epic Work ANC On-Ear Headset. As packaged: • JLAB Epic Work ANC Wireless On-Ear Headset • USB-C Dongle • Dock Stand • USB-C to USB-C Cable (almost 60 inches) These headsets are light and comfortable. Although they are “on-ear”, I do not feel tired wearing them for long periods. The headband is padded and appears to be durably connected to the earcups. I have previously owned headsets that had plastic connections to the earcups which eventually cracked or snapped within rather short periods of moderate use. The muffs as previously mentioned are comfortable and should have been leather in my opinion for additional durability. The right earcup houses the rotating boom which mutes conversations when vertical and unmutes in the horizontal position. This feature can definitely help with the nuances of muting and unmuting during use. Although the application in use may not depict the correct status, having the option to simply swivel the boom for the appropriate microphone status is a plus in my books. On the right earcup are also the volume rocker, power button and a JCON/logo button (default control for audio noise cancellation, Be Aware and Hear Yourself functions.) Both buttons are configurable and capable of multifunction based on the input (i.e. single, double or long tap.) The Logo button can also be disabled to prevent accidental taps. A USB-C port, an LED status indicator and additional microphone for the noise-cancelling features complete the list of items located on the right earcup. The left earcup has the charging connectors for the dock stand and another microphone for the noise-cancelling features. JLAB’s Epic Work ANC Wireless On-Ear Headset has multiple connectivity options: • Hardwired via included USB-C cable • USB-C Dongle via direct connection to compatible devices or via dock stand (which would need to be connected directly to compatible device) • Bluetooth – with ability to stay connected to two devices at any time The hardwired connection can be direct between the headset and the device using the included USB-C cable or in a daisy chain via the dock stand; this setup will require an additional USB-C cable as there will be a connection between the dock stand and device as well as a second wired connection between the dock stand and the headset. For the hardwired connection, the headset must be turned off to be recognized. The headset gets charged when hardwired. While the headset needs to switched off for this connection, the noise cancelling and Be Aware features remain available. In my experience, the equalizer options are not available via this connection. The USB-C connection option establishes a wireless connection between the headset and a compatible device. The included USB-c dongle stows away in the dock stand when not needed. This connection can be established with the USB-C dongle directly connected to the compatible device or via a connection to the dock stand when it (the dock stand) is physically connected to the compatible device via a USB-C cable such as the one included. Noise cancelling and be aware features remain available along with access to the equalizer options while connected in this manner. Connections via Bluetooth offer the most versatility in my opinion. This is the only connection with access to the JLAB app (Google Play or Apple App Store) which in turn provide capabilities listed below: • Configure power and JCON/Logo buttons • Tweak custom equalizer • Tweak custom Hear Yourself volume level • Configure safe hearing volume level • Update headset software • Access to nine different ambient sounds (soothing in my experience) which can be mixed should that be desired • Access to burn-in tool (to help break in components for “optimal performance” per JLAB Using this headset is fairly straightforward. Once turned on, the user is greeted with a confirmation voice note “JLAB on.” For initial setup, a long press of the power button activates the pairing mode and allows nearby devices to add via Bluetooth. As previously stated, the headset can be connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Once the initial pairing has been completed, simply turn off the Bluetooth on that device and repeat the pairing process with the second device. Upon turning on the headset, a “Bluetooth connected” message is heard should a previously connected device be within proximity. This message will repeat should two previously connected devices be within proximity confirming they have been connected to the headset. When turning off, “JLAB off” can be heard before shutdown. Sound output is very clear. The equalizer has presets for voice and music. A custom option is user configurable, and all three options can be used for either music or voice needs. The bass is deep and comparable to some other high end over-the ear variants I have previously owned. For calls, I have been told quality is clear. The Hear Yourself function enables the user to get a sense of the sound of their voice as heard by the recipients on the other end. There is an option to increase, decrease or disable this effect. The smart Active Noise-Cancelling is very effective in drowning out ambient sound when needed. JLAB states a threshold of up to 30 dB but I have been comfortable with about 40 dB in my experience. Should there be a need to be more conscious of your surroundings, the Be Aware mode amplifies the ambient sounds for the user. Battery appears to last long but I have yet to confirm JLAB’s 60 hours runtime with noise-cancelling enabled. In summary, JLAB’s Epic Work ANC Wireless On-Ear Headset is an outstanding performer with a premium feel and packed with impressive noise-cancelling features among others. It appears well-built and should last a while. JLAB’s generous two-year warranty should help resolve any premature issues along the way. While the headset checks are the required boxes on my list for my daily needs, I thought I would share my wish list for the next iteration. As we continue to occasionally work from home, a carrying case would go a long way to move between locations. As previously stated, the ability for the physical alignment of the boom (i.e. vertical/horizontal) which corresponds to mute and unmute to be appropriately reflected with applications would be very welcome.
