This copier/scanner/printer/fax replaced a traditional big frame copier that the seller would no longer support on an annual service agreement. The cost of this device, including the extended in-office service warranty, was barely more than the cost of our annual service agreement. If it fails completely at the end of two years we will have saved money.
Setup was simple and straight forward. This device is EXTREMELY feature rich and replaces the above mentioned copier as well as a fax machine and a color scanner. That's right - while it prints only black and white, it SCANS in COLOR. This was a feature I missed when reading the specs and was a pleasant surprise. It is substantially faster than the copier and scanner it replaced. The scan-to-file and scan-to-email functions are especially important productivity tools. Compatible consummables availability at prices a fraction of OEM mean our cost per page will be less than half what it was.
It has a small footprint and fits where a printer-only device once sat. This frees up the substantial floor space that the large format copier occupied

This machine replaced an old HP Laserjet 3035 and is very similar spec wise. Overall it's not a bad machine but there are a few negatives to it. It is louder than the old one, the interface is more difficult to use than the old one, and it does not connect to our enterprise HP printer management software. Also the power draw must be significantly higher because every time it turns on to print it dims a light on the same circuit which the old one didn't.
If I were to not have any experience with similar machines I might rate this a little higher. It works and it prints well but it is a let down from a similar machine that I am used to.

Bought this to replace an old hp that had for almost 10yrs. This is in an office and used as fax and main printer / copier. Have had for several months and very pleased with easy of use and quality. Have the optional 3rd tray from the old printer and it fit on this one and works well. Staff feels it works better the the old hp. Very pleased with purchase so far.

I purchased this to replace the previous gen MFP400 series (which had numerous problems). From the moment I opened the box I could tell this was reminiscent of older HP laserjet printers. It’s substantial. It works flawlessly. Copies are crisp. Be sure to update firmware and install software from HP site, NOT the CD and you’ll avoid a lot of setup issues.

Second of this unit purchased. Scans to email relatively easily - as long as you set up an SMTP relay. Fast printing, relatively fast scanning - really cool that it scans both sides WITHOUT the feeder having to refeed to scan 2nd side (2 scanners in document feeder)

It was a great printer, but very expensize and only lasted about 7 months before problems began. It just shorted out basically. Geeksquad had to replace it. Luckily we had the extended warranty plan from BB.
A:Yes if you set the paper to "auto tray select". Note this has a 100 sheet multipurpose tray and a 500 sheet main paper tray. There is an optional 550 sheet lower tray available as an accessory.
