ACER Aspire Vero - Green PC Laptop - 15.6” Full HD - Intel i7-1355U - 16GB LPDDR5 - 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD (Fall 2023) It’s possible to buy a solid performing, comfortable and enjoyable-to-use, laptop while saving money and the planet. This eco-friendly laptop doesn’t sacrifice features or performance. The only outward hint that this is a bit special is what I’ll describe as its “breath mint” case. It’s kind’a like flavor crystals (remember those?) embedded in the high tech plastics, but, please, don’t lick it. I actually feel good using this Aspire Vero, because of its eco credentials. I like it because it is a laptop focused on performance, ease of use, and efficient use of resources. SETUP and USABILITY: The setup routine didn’t need much input from me other than a few selections and entering my Microsoft account. It performed an update followed by what seemed like another update, but I was ready to add in my applications and media files within the first hour. I was viewing media, writing this review, cropping some photos and preparing an upload all on the same day. That’s what you want in a home, school or business laptop. Really Important stuff: LEFT SIDE PORTS: DC-Power jack, 2X Type-C Thunderbolts 4, HDMI 2.1, USB 3.2 (supports offline charging RIGHT SIDE PORTS: K-slot Lock port, USB 3.2, Headset jack. Intel’s 13th Gen (Q1’23) Core i7 Processor i7-1355U (10-Core, 12 thread) Not a touch screen: 15.6”, 1920 x 1080 (Full HD); LCD, IPS, 300 nits SSD 512 GB (PCIe 4.0 interface)(pretty easy to upgrade) System Memory 16Gb Graphics Intel Iris Xe Wireless: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6E NO Ethernet Port, (so use a USB-ethernet adapter, hub, or use Wi-Fi) Front Facing 1080p camera with built-in Mic Keyboard includes number pad, backlighting. Fingerprint Reader embedded in OceanGlass Touchpad Windows 11 Home 14”W x 9.33”D x 0.7”H 3.84 Weight plus included Laptop Case As noted in the list of ports, it is a good feeling knowing I can easily add a large monitor for working at home via the HDMI port and the Thunderbolt ports mean I can add my preferred external SSD Thunderbolt drives via a Thunderbolt hub. I don’t need a 4K screen and the saturated colors and contrast provided by Acer’s Full HD screen makes for a nice (if not perfect) gaming and video watching experience. The screen is quite rich in color and detail. I have the newest Wi-Fi 6 mesh router in my home so I can easily achieve Gig Internet speeds with Acer’s Wi-Fi 6 implementation. Meetings using the 1080p camera with microphone are also trouble-free. Sound quality is very good but I always use either earbuds or external speakers. This is not a bare-bones laptop despite the reasonable price. The venting is ample, effective, and not visibly obvious. The case is easy to grip and doesn’t feel fragile in any sense. It protects Intel’s newly released CPU (i7-1355U) that contains 10 Cores and 12 Threads that can fairly claim to be suitable for games and AI processing. An unusual feature of Acer’s Aspire Vero laptops is how easy they have made them for end users to accomplish their own upgrades for memory and SSD drives. The 11 screws on the lower case only require a Phillips screwdriver and a seam separation tool. The Acer will accept a replacement m.2 PCIe SSD (after FIRST remembering to clone the internal drive and then) following the 9 steps shown in a video on their site. The same process allows you to swap out your RAM and upgrade it. The keyboard feels great although I’m not fully ready for those special mirrored R and E keys which hint at Acer’s new ECO mission. The POWER BUTTON is at the top right of the key panel, at the end of the row of shortcut keys. The TOUCHPAD has a FINGERPRINT reader embedded in the upper left corner and it works perfectly for me, every time. I love regaining wasted time and energy. SUMMARY: I’m impressed with this ACER Aspire Vero for its all around performance and ease of use. It is a perfect laptop for just about any Windows user whose workload doesn’t include heavy duty graphics, competitive gaming or serious video editing. It will. of course, accomplished all of those activities, but pros know to aim higher. For the rest of us, it is too easy to get caught up in chasing performance we will never use and shouldn’t have to pay for. For most of us, the Acer is an eco-friendly, high performing laptop ready for every day computing activities. Acer has been constantly updating and upgrading this popular laptop, so check specs so you’re getting the newest and best. Easy to recommend.

Acer has always provided great alternatives to other brands in the market, without sacrificing a great deal of quality. This Acer Aspire Vero laptop is a nifty Green PC packed with features. Everything from the packaging used to ship it, to the laptop itself cuts down on carbon emissions, once again, without sacrificing quality. Out of the box it comes with a green laptop sleeve, which I really appreciate not having to go out and buy one, that may defeat the purpose of the green aspect. The packaging is 100% recyclable. It took roughly two hours to fully charge out of the box. The battery life since then, has been surprisingly well with almost daily usage. You instantly notice the feel which is almost cardboard like, but still very sleek with a speckled print. The OceanGlass touchpad allows your fingers to glide with ease, and having an app to manage the battery life was a pleasant surprise. It includes a backlit keyboard, and decent sound quality out of the speakers. It also boasts 2 USB-C ports, is lightweight, and quiet solid performance. In my opinion it’s another great Acer option, that will give you what you need for working, or school, without breaking the bank or sacrificing quality. On top of that, you can be green while doing it.

This Acer Aspire Vero is a pretty simple “no frills” laptop that has sufficient power for most day to day tasks for the average customer. The sku has a 13th Gen Intel i7 processor with a base clock speed of 1.7ghz. It comes with 16gb of ram which is plenty for most applications. You’ll get 512gb of SSD storage with this machine. It’s fine but I feel like laptops should have a minimum of 1TB now a days. It is easy to fill a 512gb drive. The laptop is very eco friendly, and is the selling point of this machine. It is made of mostly recycled material (plastics). It is surprisingly light but feels sturdy. The chassis and keyboard don’t flex very much at all. The screen has a matte anti reflective coating, so it is quite usable in any lighting. The keyboard is decent, something about it makes me miss keys often when I’m typing. The keys aren’t very tactile and are quite flat. It has a backlight which is a plus, it’s nice and has a pleasant glow. The touchpad is my biggest complaint about this laptop. It tends to glitch a little and doesn’t pick up my finger slides and gestures. So I find myself having to repeat taps and slides more often than I would like to. It does have a left and right click function so there is a positive thing to it. Also the touchpad is aligned more to the left. It isn’t centered. As a right handed person, it fatigues my wrist after a while because I have to turn my hand to the left in an uncomfortable position to use it. The fingerprint sensor is small but reads your fingerprint accurately and quickly. It’s nice for windows hello. The screen is bright enough for most indoor environments, colors and contrast are nice . Not sure on the color accuracy but they look vibrant enough to my eyes. It’s only 1080p but it looks crisp to my 40 yr old eyes. The laptop can handle some light gaming, I wouldn’t recommend it to someone as a gaming laptop but you’ll be able to play some games at low/medium settings. I installed an old MMORPG that I used to play a lot as a teen and that runs flawlessly. The battery life of this machine is what impresses me the most. I haven’t charged it in about 4 or 5 days and I still have about 70% battery life. I would say that was with about 2 hours of YouTube streaming and about another hour web browsing, and gaming for about half an hour on Lineage 2. Not sure what the battery life is claimed to be but I would guess that you can probably get at least 8 hours of casual use before needing to recharge. Quite impressive for a windows laptop with an Intel i7! The laptop does come with a proprietary charging brick, but it also will take a charge via USB C. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 usb C thunderbolt ports, a full size hdmi port and an aux port for headphones. All in all, I think this is a great laptop for anyone who wants a snappy and productive laptop. If you are conscious minded and want to support the use of recycled materials it is an added bonus. The laptop also opens up easily. It has standard Phillips screws and it looks like just about every part is replaceable. Even the speakers, battery and motherboard are easily removable. I think this laptop would be especially useful for businesses, offices and schools because it is more repairable than most laptops these days. It’s a keeper for me and will be using it for photo and web work.

Great Eco Laptop with a Good Price to Performance

I recently took a step towards a more eco-friendly computing experience by switching to the Acer Aspire Vero AV15-53P-71Z7, and I must say, it's been a refreshing change. The design of the Vero laptop is very impressive with how Acer went about making this laptop. The casing and the lid of the laptop is made up of post-consumer recycled plastics which has a nice feel to it and it's surprisingly very sturdy, in that there is no major flex when typing on the keyboard. This was huge for me, in that over the years I have had some awful laptops made of metal and other plastics where when typing the keyboard would constantly flex when typing. The trackpad is a perfect size for its position in that when you rest your palms won't accidentally touch it when typing. The thumb printer reader for unlocking your laptop is located on the track pad which is an unusual spot, but I had no issues with it and it's very responsive when unlocking your laptop. The webcam on the Vero is easily one of the best webcams I have seen in a laptop in some time, with a crisp clean picture and adjusts to lighting really well. I just wish it had a built-in privacy shade for when it's not in use. Acer's commitment to sustainability doesn't stop at the design. The Vero PC has its own software called VeroSense, where you can control which mode you want to use to conserve energy. There is Eco+Mode, Eco Mode, Balanced Mode, and Performanced Mode. Acer went above and beyond with the internal design of this laptop in that they added QR codes to all the parts inside the laptop, so if something goes wrong with a particular part in the laptop you can scan that code and find the exact part it is to replace it yourself. This is huge for someone like me who likes the ability to upgrade their laptop in order to prolong my laptop for years to come. The Acer Aspire Vero comes packed with an Intel i7 processor, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, 512GB M.2 SSD and Windows 11 Home edition. The i7 Processor is perfect for those who like multitasking, working on resource-intensive projects, multiple tabs in a web browser, this laptop can handle it all with ease. The addition of a Wifi 6E network card is huge, in that it allows me to get the most out of my internet speeds and clocking in over 600MBps, which is crucial for uploading files and videos to my work servers. The Full 15.6in HD display is crisp and vibrant, providing an immersive visual experience for everything from video calls to movie nights. The audio quality is just ok, in that its two downward facing speakers under the laptop, so if you're laying the laptop on a soft surface the speakers will be muffled, so watching videos in bed or the couch will not sound that great. The variety of ports on this Laptop. From 2x USB-C Thunderbolt ports, HDMI, 2x USB 3.0 ports, and an audio headphone jack. It comes with a proprietary barrel cord for charging, which I assume is more energy efficient, but a standard USB-C 65w charger will work with it when it comes to charging. The only real negative complaint I have about this laptop, is the amount of blot apps and sponsored apps that came preinstalled on the laptop. These ranged from music/video streaming apps, random games, and McAfee. I spent a good 20 minutes, just installing all of these apps that I don't need or want. Not sure if this is a Windows 11 or Acer addition, but would really like to see these apps gone in newer Overall, the Acer Aspire Vero AV15-53P-71Z7 is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to make an environmentally responsible computing choice without compromising on performance. Its sleek design, good specs, and sustainability features make it a great option in the market. For coming in under $1000, you can’t go wrong with this laptop.

Going green never felt so good. The IPS 1080P screen is pretty good. It could use a few more nits to be a bit brighter but it's pretty good when used outside on a bright day, I don't recommend doing that though. Battery life is pretty decent for a green machine. I am getting about 8 hours of use and the standby time is great. I just let it sit for about 2 days and fired it up and had almost 90 percent of the battery left. That's a win in my book. Keyboard and trackpad feel good but that is subjective so take my opinion on that with a grain of salt. The expansion ports are decent. One major draw back to me is that they included Thunderbolt 4 ports but they are for data only and charging a device other than the laptop. Big swing and a miss there. You cannot charge it via the USB-C port. WHY!!? It's lightweight and easy to carry around and mine came with a pouch that you can put the laptop in that has a nice pocket on the front of it. It is pretty zippy with the 16GB of ram and i5 CPU. The SSD is decent but I am sure I'll be upgrading it soon with the prices of 2TB drives coming in under $100 in most places. Decent for some light gaming but don't think about playing anything that requires some muscle to play. Would I recommend picking this one up? Sure as long as you keep your expectations in their proper place. I'd give this a solid 4.5 out of 5

The ACER Aspire Vero AV15-53P-71Z7 Notebook is from their “Eco-friendly” line of laptops, main features include the use of recycled material in the construction and packaging of the notebook. First let’s start with the general physical appearance, my laptop has is speckled grey case, made from at least 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. The case seems solid and has a good “grippy” feel to it, the case reminds me a bit of plastic composite deck planks, kudos on the design and implementation. This notebook features a full backlit keyboard (with numeric pad) and to tell you the truth, I really have been missing a full-size laptop keyboard, it has a good feel, and the touch-pad is responsive with an integrated fingerprint reader for Windows 11 Home Operating System to use for logging into the notebook. The non-touch screen is bright and clear with HD resolution. The integrated Intel graphics keeps the price of this system lower and will drive an external 4K monitor when connected via an onboard USB-C gen 3.2 port or a separate HDMI port. Don’t expect great 4K video performance on content with a lot of motion, but the onboard Intel graphics produces satisfactory results (and the built in panel will do HDR 1920x1080 @ 60htz). The Intel i7-1355U processor is more than capable for most applications while being easy on your battery. This system has four USB ports, two type C (3.1 & 3.2), two USB-A and standard audio jack. A 1440p built in webcam is clear and provides good performance, speaker wise the integrated speakers are usable, but given the size of the notebook (15.6) you might expect a bit better sound. 16 GB of RAM and a speedy 512GB SSD round out the core components in this system. Overall impressions of this system are positive, it has a solid feel, is visually appealing and the whole VERO line of notebooks from ACER are a positive trend for the environment. Pros: >> Nice case material, which includes some post-consumer recycled plastic >> Bright, non-touch 1920x1080 HD screen >> Efficient Intel i7-1355U processor with integrated graphics >> Good battery life >> Eco-Friendly packaging >> Nice Laptop sleeve (also made out of recycled content) is included. Cons: << Power tip into laptop is tiny, care should be taken when using this plugged in if not being used on a stationary surface << Power supply is small, have not determined if this impacts the time needed to recharging the battery

This Acer laptop is better than I expected in many ways. For starters, the design and material do not feel weak or flims, nice feel and look to it, it is easy to upgrade the HD but not the RAM which is a bit disappointing bus since it is not a gaming device, I do not mind. Surprisingly fast, however, for an average laptop because it came with a pci hard drive. It come with plenty of USB ports for accessories. Two weak points are the speakers and the power cord. The speakers are not loud enough and it gets distorted at max volume. The power cord is thin and the connector is very small so like a previous laptop I had with the same power supply stile, it probably will brake under a lot of use though. The good thing is that can be recharged via USB. The screen is bright though not touch screen. The keyboard has LED lighting with the specular arrangement of the ER keys backward and green color. I find that to be a nice touch. It's good to know this great laptop is environmentally friendly. This is not for gaming but everyday activities like presentations, web surfing, movie watching and similar activities.

I purchased this computer for a staff member at my church. When setting up the computer, the monitor blacks out and you are unable to restart/reboot it for several minutes. Speaking to a geek squad agent this occurred because the computer was updating Microsoft O/S software. However, after all the initial software updates were complete. The staff member reported that it happened again right in the middle of working with a program. I've never had this happen with a new computer purchase therefore I returned the computer.
