I bought this April 6, used it nearly each day and a few days ago it became unstable. Today, November 8 it’s dead.
It’s pretty good. No meaningful depreciation in audio. A slight depreciation in charging speed.
I would have liked this to last a little longer or cost a little less but with no competition that might be too much to expect.
I’ve attached a photo of the wear point.

Must have dongle for iPhone 7 users

When I upgraded to iPhone 7 plus from Android world, I was not able to listen music using wired while charging. I am not sure why apple removed the headphone jack in iPhone 7th generation. However, Belkin - Lightning Audio with Charge Adapter addressed this issue easily.
Belkin always make very good products to work flawlessly with your apple devices and this device is no exception to the list. Belkin - Lightning Audio with Charge Adapter will allow you to charge your iPhone and listen music with your earbuds simultaneously. The Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar essentially serves as a splitter for your Lightning port. Plugging in place of your cable, it will give you 2 lightning ports. This allows both music/headphone use and charging at the same time. The build quality is really good. I have tested this device with listening music via apple ear pods while charging.
This is a must have device for iPhone 7 or 7 plus users. Please make sure that your device is running iOS 10 or above. It is ideal for people who listen music, watch online videos with your headphones without draining your battery.
The dongle is very simple to use and very durable. It supports up to 48 kHz, 24-bit audio output. The Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar supports the full ecosystem of Lightning Audio headphones. Compatible with Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter and it is Apple MFi certified accessory.

Works Well, But There's One Thing Missing

Let's be honest -- Apple's removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7 was premature, at best. I don't mind using the adapter that Apple includes with the iPhone, but I really miss being able to charge my phone while listening to music. Belkin's Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar solves this problem, but it's not the cleanest solution.
PROS
- It works as expected. Plug it into the lightning port, plug in your headphones and charging cable to the RockStar, and you're in business.
- Compact size. It's only about 4 inches tall, so it will easily fit into a headphone case.
CONS
- My biggest issue: the RockStar does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you'll have to use yet another adapter to connect your traditional wired headphones. The attached picture shows just how silly this looks. Unless you exclusively use lightning headphones, you'll now have to carry around 2 adapters just to be able to charge your phone and listen to music at the same time.
- The cable on the RockStar adapter is not very flexible: it points straight down and doesn't really move in the direction of your attached headphones or charging cable.
OVERALL
The RockStar works, but it falls short of a perfect solution. I wish Belkin would have introduced a RockStar adapter with a 3.5mm jack and a lightning port for charging. For sitting at a desk or using in a car, the RockStar serves its purpose well. If you're going to be moving around or on-the-go with this adapter, it might be a bit of a challenge. It might be time for many people to look at wireless Bluetooth headphones. Regardless, this is a fine Belkin product. Recommended if you're not quite ready to jump on the wireless headphone bandwagon.

Unforntunetly I had to return the product, I like to listen to music while working on my computer and it wouldn’t charge my Iphone while using it with the USB terminal on my computer. It would say it was charging but in reality it wasn’t. The build quality on the other hand is very good.

Hi, franco77,
We regret to hear that you already returned the product. We could have checked why your Rockstar won't charge your phone while using it on the USB Terminal of your computer as this could be a possible product limitation. No worries, we already took note of your experience and relayed it to our Product Management Team for checking. Should you need a hand in the future, we're just an email away at [email protected]. We'd be more than happy to serve you.

This is a great accessory for the iPhone 7 owner. It doesn't exactly what it's supposed to. It allows you to connect a lightning cable for charging, and use lightning cable headphones. There isn't any audio loss, and it immediately works the second you plug in (so there isn't any lag).
The dongle isn't too big, or unsightly, and feels like it should have shipped with the iPhone. For those wondering, yes, it will work with the lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter that comes with iPhone 7/7 Plus; with no noticeable loss in quality.
The only con is that it won't allow syncing to a PC/Mac when using the adapter, but will charge from the USB port. It's not a big deal, but if you're worried about being able to sync/charge/listen, this won't accomplish the data transfer task. Bonus, this does work with older generation iOS devices with a lightning port. So you can use this to also plug in your lightning plug headphones into an older iOS device. I tested it with the Apple Pods that came with the phone along with my iPad Mini and an older gen iPod Touch with ease.

Plug and play at its best.

The setup for this device was plug and play, meaning that no additional software was required for it to work. My wife and I both have cars with bluetooth, which alleviates having to connect an auxiliary cord to our new iPhones that no longer have that option. However, when we travel together, only one of us can use the bluetooth while she uses her headphones and that’s where this device came in handy.
One of the features of this product is the ability to charge your cellphone while listening to music. While I enjoy listening to podcasts, my wife listens to music. Being in the same vehicle, she can’t be charging her cellphone and using her headphones at the same time. With this dongle, while I listen to my podcast with bluetooth to the car, she is charging her phone and listening to music. A second great feature that was a bit of a welcome surprise was that with the dongle, two people can connect their headphones at the same time to one phone. We attempted doing that for watching a TV show and it worked as advertised.
The performance of the dongle was as expected. It worked right out of the box, didn’t require much of a setup, and everything was self-explanatory for people who are looking to get this kind of device.
This Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar meets my expectations. Any product where a non-tech person can take out from the box and start using it without much research is a welcome addition to our family.
I highly recommend this to people whose vehicles may not have bluetooth and are looking to charge their newest iPhone while using the auxiliary port of their car or for people who want to share their listening experience with someone else, as having two ports allows you to connect two headphones (with the headphone adapter that came with your iPhone). Each person would just need their own individual adapter.

Ok, what we are dealing with here is pretty much a "limited use" adapter designed for a specific purpose. As we know, the issue with the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus phones is that there's no longer a 3.5mm headset jack. Which now limits us to using the single lightning port to both use a wired headset and to charge your phone, leaving it impossible to do both at the same time.
Enter this Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar adapter. Barring the name, this is perfect for the specific use that it is made for. Basically, you plug the adapter into the lightning port of your phone (or iPad, or any device using a lightning port) and it works as a splitter, splitting it into two lightning ports. This allows you to both charge and listen to audio, as well as phone calls, at the same time.
In my testing, it worked flawlessly. I called my friend using the adapter and he said I sounded normal, no difference between having the adapter and not having it. So there's definitely no quality degradation in calls or music. I also had zero issues charging the phone. I used both official Apple lightning EarPods and Lightning cable, as well as an Anker Lighting cable for charging. Also, it doesn't matter which port the charge cable or the headset is plugged into. Inside the packaging, however, it does state to not plug two headsets or two charge cables in simultaneously. This should be a given, but I suppose they put that on there for their protection.
I have heard that some people cannot use the speaker while this is plugged in and on a call. I tested this and I had no issues. I was able to transfer from headset to speaker and back again, perfectly.
As far as aesthetics go, I would say that this is extremely close to Apple build quality, looks and construction. The cable between the adapter and the lightning plug is thick and very high quality. The Belkin logo is branded on both sides of the lightning plug that goes into your phone Because of the thickness of the cable, it is very stiff and doesn't bend freely. This could be a pro or a con, depending on your personal preference. I, however, felt it was a little TOO stiff. But to each their own. :-)
Why am I giving this only 4 stars then, instead of 5? Well, 3 things, really, First, this acts as charge and audio ONLY - so you cannot do data transfers via the Lightning cable through the adapter. Second, this, again, is a very limited use/specific scenario product. If you use bluetooth earbuds/headphones (or the new AirPods), then unless you plan on using wired at all, this is all but useless. Third, the price. At $40 a pop, this is way overpriced. $20 - $25 would be more of a "sweet spot". At the current price, however, I cannot recommend this unless you ABSOLUTELY need to be able to charge and use lightning headphones at the same time.

I was out of state for work. I noticed that when I called people while simultaneously using the Hotspot function to access the Internet with my laptop, the battery would wear down.
I needed a way to charge the smartphone while using a wired headset . . . yes, I know there are wireless headsets - I like the wired one better.
So I searched at Best Buy and purchased the Belkin Lightning Audio with Charge Adaptor. $49.99 + Tax is pricey but it works and that's the end of it.
Per the box, you can charge via one port and use headset/headphones on the other port - it does not matter which.
You cannot charge via both ports and use headphones via both ports simultaneously per the instructions. I have not attempted to do so and have no plans to.
Thank you!

I love my iPhone 7 Plus but the only downside that bothered me is that Apple ditched the audio port until I get this amazing adaptor. Works as decirbed with zero issues, charging and listening to music at the same time and music comes out clear with no distortion. Very satisfied that I can charge and listen to music using my regular 3.5 headphone jack and not forced to use a bluetooth one.

I bought this product, because I could not charge my cellphone when I was using my Bose headphones to listen to music or watch a movie on my cellphone on an airplane. I have only tested this product to make sure that I can use and charge my cellphone while using my Bose headphones at the same time. I will see how well it works the next time that I have to charge and watch a movie on my cellphone on an airplane.

A very useful adapter for iPhone users

When Apple released the iPhone 7/7 Plus phones this fall, they eliminated the headphone jack to simplify the design. This design choice though forces people to start using the Lightning port for headphones. Because of this, you have to make the sometimes difficult choice of either charging your phone or listening to music. Thankfully, Belkin released this dual lightning port adapter. This device is specifically designed to allow you for the charge/music listening experience and will not allow for two headphones to listen to a single iPhone or allow for two separate charging cables to be connected.
I like the design of this cable. It’s very similar to the adapters and cables that Apple provides. It’s slim and easy to store. I really like that the male end of the adapter is smaller. I currently have a larger case, protective case on my phone and while it doesn’t fit onto standard charging docks, this cable clicks gently into place quite easily. Testing the device out is really simple, too. I plugged the male end into my iPhone 7 and then a set of headphones (using the Apple Lightning adapter) into one of the ports and the a battery pack into the other port. My phone started charging and I was able to listen to music through my headphones. The nice thing was that there was no RF interference, which I used to get when I was using the headphone jack.
If you have an iPhone 7, I would strongly recommend investing in this adapter. It can really alleviate a lot of frustration as you use your phone more and more.
