The guy in Magnolia played The Love Song by The Cure, Hotel California and Because covered by Elliot Smith. Let's just say after hearing that I walked out with a pair of these for my home theater. Watching Captain America The Winter Soldier with these bad boys on blew me away. I use these generally for movies and it's something I'll never regret buying.

These are very nice little speakers with great sound quality. For petite speakers, we think they have an excellent big speaker sound quality. We did purchase stands to put them on since we didn’t have room on our TV stand - those along with a center speaker gave our TV a surround sound theater quality. Very satisfied.

Great speakers to finish off my sound system! Work wonderfully as my back surround speakers. Crisp and clean sound and getting them open box from Best Buy was a great value.

    Excellent Speakers

I purchase these speaker to replace my Mirage Mx, they were good speakers but I was missing the mid range, which these speakers provide. Let me tell you for the prize and size these speakers provide an excellent sound from mid range to high. I purchase 6 of these for my 7.2 surround sound. They are not really big speakers but they produce a big sound, I mainly got them for surround and for music they sound OK. The built quality is excellent with nice glossy black finish. have them hooked up to a DENON 2312Ci at 80hz all around and with a DefTech Pro2000 as center. I decided to go with the Pro2000 due to the size of my room the 2000 are a inch bigger than the Pro1000CC and for 100 more was definitely worth it. BestBuy does not carry the Pro2000 you have to find elsewhere. These speakers worth every penny go to the Magnolia and check them out is what I did after researching online. For the wall mount Def Tech have their own pro mounts but the price too high I found the Omnipro 10.0 work the same and way cheaper and they go about 90 degrees, for my front speakers I use some other mount found online which swivel 180 and the speaker sits flat on the mount. For the center channel I used the Def Tech Pivot mount which it was about $20 and bring two mounts which is what you need for the Pro Centers. If your looking for small good speakers and at decent price don't go any further DeftTech is the way to go. I added some picture of the mounts. My current setup: Receiver: Denon 2312Ci Surround: Def Tech PM1000 Center Channel: Def Tech PC2000 Subs: 2 Mirage MX will replace 1 with Pro1000 Sub

I have a 7.1 B and W system in the living room. I wanted to use preouts to put two speakers for zone 2 in the bedroom. It was between these and the Martin Logan motion 4s. I did in fact buy the logans but ended up exchanging for these. These integrate well with other speakers. The bass output from these is phenomenal. They were also on sale for $165 a piece! Overall these really are the better speaker. They sound more neutral than the Logans, they can be cranked up soo loud without distortion, and have tremendous bass output and sound for their size. They really are great! It's amazing how loud they can go without distorting. Also with these for music I feel like a sub is optional where as the Logans absolutely need one. Comparing these with my BW 685s2s in the living room, I would say they're actually comparable with the BW having a slightly better midrange. Keep in mind these cost less than half and are way smaller with a smaller midrange. Honestly I feel like they could ask more for these and getting the on sale is a crime for what you get!

    Small DYNAMITE !!!

Bought these dynamos at Magnolia in Kennesaw Ga. Coupled these to a DefTech 300w sub and they not only play loud but they do something that is almost impossible. They sound GREAT on music and movies! I have a pair of DefTech Prostand 1000's ordered and can't wait to get them in the perfect sonic spot. This company is serious about putting their name on products and they back it up. Don't scortch these puppies until you break them in - Like all great speakers, there is a break-in period. The sales gurus at Magnolia will bend over backwards to help you with no pressure and they really know their stuff. My salesman answered ALL my questions and treated me like a king. I wish the Hiram Ga location had a Magnolia but it was worth the drive to Kennesaw. Take it from a 30 year audiophile, you can do no better!!!!

These are just the right size, can take some horsepower and have the right specs we wanted for the front R & L speakers in our home audio/video 5.1.2 set up. Once dialed into the rest of our predominately Yamaha audio system, beautiful full sound right where you want it and need it. Great sound, great performance at a great price point.

    Great speakers for an apartment

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I placed these speakers in the living room of a small apartment hanging on the wall using the promount 90 brackets. They look great and they sound even better. I was afraid I would need to pair these with a subwoofer but there was no need, they can deliver really good lows. Give the speakers a couple of weeks and they would sound even better. I have been listening to old records and I am hearing sounds that I had never herd before specially with electronic music. I would definitetly recommend these.

I visited the Best Buy's Magnolia audio demonstration theatre in Lexington, KY and was amazed at how the technology and sound quality of bookshelf speakers have progressed. The salesperson was extremely helpful and provided very valuable guidance. For some time, I thought I might replace my 20+ year old Bose Acoustimass 7 double cube satellite speakers. Mainly because of the center channel speaker. I felt the sound quality of the center channel cube did not meet my expectations. When I listened to my choices in the Magnolia theater room, I knew it was time to upgrade - especially since I just upgraded my TV to a 65" 4K Samsung KS8000. Which I also recommend. Back to the speaker review. After listening to my choices, I thought the Definitive Technology speakers pleased my ears the most. I thought there is no way these Def Tech speakers are within my budget. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the how affordable they really are. After reading the many reviews, my decision to make the plunge was completely solidified. The decision was made easier by the fact they were on sale. Since my local store in Fort Wayne does not carry the Def Tech's, I purchased a pair of the ProMonitor 1000's and a ProCenter 1000 from Best Buy's online site and couldn't wait until they arrived. When they arrived, I immediately replace my Front-Left, Center and Front-Right AM7's with the Def Tech's and was amazed at the difference. Right out of the box, they sounded great - much better than my AM7's. I'm not knocking Bose because I have many Bose products in my house and on my ears but these Def Tech's brought the sound alive. The clarity and audio range were impressive. I love good quality sound but am not willing to spend thousand's of dollars to possibly enjoy the next plateau of sound quality. My audio system is powered and controlled with a five year old Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver and also connect to my system is a Polk PSW10 powered 10" subwoofer. One thing I need to add to my comments is that you will need a subwoofer with these Def Tech's since they do not provide nor are they designed to provide the full range of audio frequencies. After I had a chance to adjust the audio settings on my Onkyo receiver, the sound was even more dynamic. After spending a little north of $600 for a pair of ProMonitor 1000's and a ProCenter 1000, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend purchasing Definitive Technology speakers. They are well designed and well built and you will not be disappointed with their quality.

Good choice for medium sized room

This was our choice for our first entry into the surround sound world as we have always used a pair of Bose 201 series speakers for stereo sound. This summer we purchased a LG 55SJ8500 UHD TV and that of course led to new speakers. We needed speakers that were small enough to fit into a ten foot long entertainment center in the family room. We purchased all Definitive Technology; 2000 Center-Channel Speaker, 1000 monitors & 800 surround sound speakers along with the Pro 8 subwoofer. It turned out to be an excellent choice, great sound for movies. The 1000 monitors also work very well for stereo music. I hope this future proofs us for at least five years now!

These speakers were more expensive than I would normally spend for surround sound. Not top of the line expensive, but above average in my mind. The sound quality is very good. I am enjoying these speakers every day, having set them up as a 5.1 surround sound system. Blue Ray movies are incredible now, with the added sound quality. Music is much better as well. Overall, you pay a little more and you get a better experience. Its a fair price for what you get. The only negative is that the level of bass that can be handled by these speakers is minimal. You really need a separate subwoofer. The Geek Squad rep can set the signals so the bass goes where it can be handled.

I purchased these as rear side speakers for my 5.1 surround system. They sound great. It is amazing how much sound these small speakers put out. I replaced some older Infinity speakers that were much larger and these put out more sound. Highly reccomended.

After Upgrading to Denon AVR-X4800 and HDMI cables. I decided to upgrade my 4 Speakers. These have the sound I was looking for, Major sound difference than my older one. Not sure why Definitive Technology is pulling out of the market.

speakers have a very good sound spectrum. I compared a few speakers at the BestBuy sound. I mounted them on the wall in my living room with wall mounts (cost extra) which are made for this model. I have a relatively small room and the overall listening experience is very satisfying. The price of the speaker plus tax plus wall mount nears $300 which I find high by at least 50-100$.

Already with the 800s for the rear surrounds, I bought the 1000s to serve as the rear speakers. They provide a little more bass response than the 800s and are just as clear. My 7.2 system now sounds very immersive.

Great speaker. Lower price, as a possible discontinuation of item may be contemplated. Big sound. Get them while they are still available. Some items are OK to buy second hand, but speakers are not one of them.
