I needed to replace a Yamaha amp that I loved that was having some issues that could not be remedied so after looking I decided on this Denon model as I have great speakers for surround sound in this amp totally enhances that experience. What I loved and setting it up is that you have a microphone that you run some tests with indifferent seating positions and it actually tunes the signal being sent to your different speakers exactly to your listening environment. Incredible! The other plus I didn't realize is that I had also just replaced my flatscreen with a new smart TV and this unit perfectly integrates with the functionality there and even turns off and on automatically with the television. I have to say there is no aspect of this unit that disappoints me or that I would suggest they change.

Been wanting a Denon A/V receiver for a while. Finally got this one when our old one started acting up. It’s outstanding, especially the Bluetooth and WIFI built in.

I have always had Yamaha receivers. My Yamaha receiver’s subwoofer output stopped working. The Best Buy consultant recommended the Denon brand and introduced me to my new receiver. It is working great! I’m a happy camper!

This is my second Denon Audio receiver I have owned. The first was about 25 years old before I decided to replace it for newer technology. To me they are one of the best surround receiver for the money you can by. It has great sound and not hard to set up. It is worth it to by quality speakers to match with this receiver to get that quality sound it is capable of producing.

This is my first Denon, and overall I would rate it as 4.8 stars. I use it to stream Google music via Chromecast audio, play records via a vintage Technics turntable - and movies. Music - I have a 5.1 system, but for music I switch to stereo mode. In stereo mode it uses front speakers and a sub. I have 4 Ohm front speakers and the Denon gets barely warm after hours of use. Pretty awesome. Playing records - phono input is just average and a separate pre-amp would be beneficial. Streaming sound quality is great and sounds better than records. Sound is very warm - my front speakers with a different amp had way too much treble, but with this Denon I had to actually turn the treble all the way up, Good sound without any harshness, I was very pleasantly surprised. For movies - in one word, outstanding. Overall, very happy with the Denon as I always wanted to try this brand. The only small complaint is with regards to built in phono stage, but other than that - exceeded my expactations

    A perfect upgrade

I recently upgraded from a 9 year old Denon and couldn’t be happier. Adding things like internet radio, Alexa integration, eARC and more made this an easy choice for me. I have it hooked up to my new Sony TV through the eARC and it works flawlessly. It’s great for my mismatched 5.1 I have it powering Micca center and fronts and Fluance surrounds with a Polk sub. Only two issues so far. One that was a simple fix once I diagnosed the problem- the unit would sometimes get stuck on the “Mobile Apps” setting even though I had already downloaded the Denon and HEOS apps. Once I confirmed again that I had them the issue went away. The other issue seems to be that sometimes the unit doesn’t power on/off automatically when the TV does. It doesn’t happen every time so I can only assume it’s just a glitch if the TV sleeps or wakes differently than normal. Nothing close to deal breaking for me.

I purchased this unit to replace an Onkyo receiver that was limited to 1080p. I just needed 4k capability, but went 8k for the future. Setup was easy and sound is excellent through my existing Yamaha speakers.

Better for Home Theater use than for music , not enough power, for my tastes, but up to Denon standards having owned a Denon receiver for 36 years and going. Good value for the price.

I was in need of a replacement for my old Fischer 2ch amplifier. This thing is awesome. Has a built-in phono preamp (not the loudest, but sufficient and can have the preset db level adjusted based on the channel you select). This is working great to interface with my standing floor speakers and pair with my TV through the eArc feature. Very impressive 5.2 channel unit. The only thing that might detract is that you HAVE to hook it up to your TV to setup and go thru all of the on-screen prompts. But this is infinitely customizable and they have a great app you can download to toggle between channels and pair with streaming services like Spotify. Really powerful AVR.

Added this last Christmas when my wife gifted new speakers (replacing some from 1976) - Klipsch speakers (honestly I think my old Tempest Heil loudspeakers were better - just the woofers rotted out) I replaced my 1976 Sansui receiver (it also worked great and still functions fine) to be able to run TV through the system. Still haven't been successful getting a turntable to work with it....

Much better connectivity than old models. It has worked seamlessly with many different phone users. However setup to create a Zone 2 was tricky. We like to have the option to have two playing in different areas (inside and outside). Need better instructions on how to do this.
