I just got mine set up yesterday. I had someone come in and do it. It’s replacing a denon avr-1712. I haven’t tried all the options yet, but love what I have used. I have the option to add a 2nd zone. I can play music off my phone and control the volume with my phone. I run my tv sound through the receiver and love that I turn off both of them with the tv remote. I have the denon iPod add on that I will be testing out today. I also have a Sony 50 cd player hooked up. That will get tested out this weekend also.
I keep my equipment for a long time. I’ll be able to add an 8k tv when prices come down.

Oh my gosh. I upgraded from a Sony Strh790 and this is in another galaxy. The imaging, separation, and frequency response is in another league. Self calibration is freaking awesome (PRO TIP: take the doggo out of the room first lol). Wired network connection provides active firmware updates, and the internet radio feature supports lossless HiDef audio streaming like FLAC. ARC input is HDMI 2.1 compliant so you can feed Dolby Digital raw and uncompressed to this bad boy right from your TV if your TV is so equipped. Now throw in being able to tell Alexa to mute the home theater because this Denon provides smart home access....

We purshased a new home and had speakers built into the ceiling upstairs, downstairs, and outside in every area, we want to be able to watch and listen to something different all at the same time with this Devon receiver it became possible! The amazing guys from Best Buy came to the house helped us do all our ordering from the TVs to the sound bars to the receivers then two weeks later brought all our new stuff and came and installed it all! They completely set up everything for us from Netflix to everything and show us how to work everything! That’s customer service in home ever had!

Denon 1800 AVR is my first true AVR and I couldn’t be happier. I am driving Klipsch speakers and Audessey calibrates all around the room. GUI is very easy to use, microphone and tripod calibrations are easy to execute. One note, and I think this is generic HDMI handshaking, some HDMI cables will be slow communicating with a TV, especially in HDMI 2.1. If you run into this, swap and go to a lower(older) HDMI cable and run speaker setup and calibrations. (Most of calibrations are cable path losses and free space path loss). This was was my only thing I’ve noticed thus far.
Oh, and it has pre outs if you ever want to expand out your system!

Hello, Thank you so much for this feedback. We typically recommend high speed HDMI cables from a trusted manufacturer such as Audioquest for the best experience. Otherwise, we are happy to hear you are having a wonderful experience with our AVR and hope you continue to enjoy it for many years to come.

Sound quality is great, but the features, menus, etc are hard to navigate. It even feels a little glitchy to get some menus to even show up. Overall, very happy though.

I am very pleased with this receiver. I have owned several Denon components over the years, including an AV receiver that l had for about 25 years. The setup was easy, step by step and thorough. The included microphone to help in the calibration of the receiver for your listening environment is great. I have an Apple TV, a blue ray player and a turntable, and all work perfectly. I have a 5.1 speaker setup, but have the option of adding 2 more in the future. I think the 1800H is plenty of power for an apartment or small home environment. I will continue to put it through it’s paces, but after 3 weeks, I am thoroughly pleased with this receiver.

The X1800H is my first venture into the home theater space. Previously, I had a 2 channel AVR, and have multiple sound bar systems. It became clear after this purchase that I had much to learn about audio technology, settings and editing. There is no such thing as a plug and play home theater AVR. If you are lucky, your optimum listening experience will result after the standard Audyssey calibration. But, the best should not be assumed, and there may be a better result awaiting you. For audiophiles, this is all known, but I am writing this for folks that may be in my shoes entering the home theater experience for the first time. Although the X1800H is not in the premium price bracket, it still requires a healthy cash outlay, so why not get the best out of the purchase?
After I ran my 8 position Audyssey cal via the AVR/on screen, I started researching some of the parameters. I came to learn about the MultEQ Editor app that allows more editing than what is possible via the AVR Setup. I downloaded the app ($20) and started checking out what is available. I read that the setting of Midrange Compensation can only be changed via the app, and in most cases it is helpful to turn off for all speakers (it is on for all by default). I did this, but in my case and room, I determined it was best to keep this on for all speakers.
I will be using my system primarily for streaming music. I use to have Spotify, but I switched to Tidal due to lossless audio on the basic plan (Spotify keeps promising lossless audio, but still has not delivered, and if they finally do, it will be at a higher price). I was thrilled to discover that a recent Denon AVR firmware update now includes Tidal Connect, where one can use their Tidal app to directly connect to the AVR via Wi-Fi. I was at first frustrated because I could not make this happen, but then discovered that the X1800H out of the box did not have the latest firmware update. Once I updated, all was good with Tidal Connect. So, the X1800H checks off all my music boxes.... I can stream lossless Tidal audio via Wi-Fi. For those that may not know, the lossless audio can only be maintained via Wi-Fi. Bluetooth compresses.
Audio purists will say that music should only be listened to in two channel stereo to match the source. But, the bottom line is what sounds best to you. There is a Denon sound mode setting called Matrix. Denon describes this as follows... "This mode adds a spacious surround sound effect with stereo music sources." So, to me, this provides the best of both worlds. I feel this is the best setting for my music listening with this system.
With all this said, my personal final settings for optimal music listening are as follows:
Front mains crossover: 80 Hz (Audyssey cal set this to full range, but need to unload to subwoofer, and also provides a more full sound).
Center and Surround crossovers: 40 Hz (as set by cal... did not change).
Front Dolby crossover: 120 Hz (as set by cal... did not change).
Midrange Compensation kept on for all speakers
Dynamic EQ: On
Dynamic Volume: Set to Light (I was surprised by this one, because I assumed Off would be the best result, but setting to Light actually was one of the biggest factors in improvement. You will want to experiment. For me, setting it to Light brought out vocals and other things in that range more in balance and gave an overall fuller sound).
As for trimming speaker levels, set the dB offset levels to your liking.
I played with the frequency filtering available on the MultEQ editor app, but for me it was best (far better) to leave the cal corrections as is.
One final note, in addition to the on screen setup menu via the AVR, there is also a web based settings tool. To access this, go to Network on the Setup Menu on your TV screen, then go to Information, then find the IP Address of your AVR. Copy this into the URL box of any browser connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your AVR, then you have all the setting tools and a couple more beyond what you get on your TV screen, plus it is much more convenient than moving around with your remote on the screen.

In house Geek Squad setup. Works well and provides 4K for the TV while directing sound to 5.1 speakers and zone 2 speakers. Volume control uing remote is not smooth and has to be clicked up and down. Using zone 2 is easier with HEOS App (iPhone in my case). I have adjusted settings based on on-line manual and other suggestions. Denon customer care is also very helpful.

Had it a few weeks now and it works great. Excellent sound and flexible with various input sources. We're using it for 5.1 sound.
The two things that I would complain about are (1) the audio setup wizard was a bit too rigid. I had to manually set things for my 5.1 setup. It kept wanting to calibrate 7 speakers in addition to my sub and annoyed me. (2) The volume adjustment is slow...significantly slower than my previous Marantz receiver.

I exchanged a Sony STR AN1000 AVR to get this AVR instead. Lets just say for pretty much the same price, i am way happier with the Denon. I am running a 5.0 setup. Movies sound amazing and Music sounds great in stereo. Works perfectly with my Sony Bravia x90l TV, PS5, nvidia shield and Switch. I would consider this the high end of budget AVRs and would highly recommend.

I needed to update my audio/video receiver and this is a great entry level unit. Instead of using hard wired speakers, I used a separate Visio Bluetooth sound bar. I had to work around sound sync isses since it’s connected via Bluetooth, but it works well. The intended setup is with hard wired speakers. I’m very satisfied and would highly recommend this unit for those in need of upgrading their system without breaking the bank.

the sound is excellent, connection wireless is easy. you need to be familiar with basic of sound to get the best of this amplifier. I'm frustrated bc Denon set up didn't allow me to create a separate zone, you need the secondary app in your cell to get the best of this model. I'm still trying to split the sound 5.1 inside house and two in the yard.

Thank you for choosing the Denon AVR-X1800H! This receiver supports multi-zone playback, which you can manage using the HEOS app along with Denon HOME/HEOS wireless speakers, or by connecting speakers directly to the receiver.
If you decide to hardwire your speakers, make sure to configure the second zone correctly in the receiver's settings menu by selecting "5.1 + Zone 2." Connect Zone 2 speakers to the surround back channels. Once everything is set up properly, you can control Zone 2 using the HEOS app or the included remote. If you need further assistance, please contact Denon Product Support by calling 855-720-0823.
Sincerely, Denon

Great receiver with enough power for a large room with multiple speakers. Compact depth of receiver is excellent to fit inside a TV console with limited depth. The QR code links to Heos is great to access music via streaming and set up was very easy.
