Fantastic Heater for Small Homes

Moved in about a week before I purchased this unit, house came with a cheap wall heater that didn't heat more than a few feet in front of it, and baseboard heaters in the bathroom and bedroom, very energy inefficient and they got too hot for comfort. In comes the Dyson AM09, this thing is a beast! I leave it plugged in and on all day, set at 65 degrees, it only kicks on when it needs to and it heats my entire house up. I leave it right next to the front door, and by leaving the bedroom and bathroom doors open, the whole house stays warm. It's dead quiet in the sense that when I'm gaming, I can't hear it at all. The small white noise it does make is kind of relaxing when reading or sleeping and it boots up.

Sleek, works well, a few quirks

This Dyson fit that need. I liked the build quality and sleek look. The colors go well with my decor. At just under 24 inches, it is compact. So compact that I decided to put the Dyson on a small table I have - see the photo. The heat output is OK as long as you are fairly close to the Dyson. The fan only has more range and the fan pattern can be adjust from focused to diffuse. I’m about 7 feet away and the fan and heat are adequate. The Dyson has a small footprint compared to my former tower fan. The remote is very small and easy to handle. See the photo of the remote in my hand for sense of size and scale. Two issues cause me to rate this 4 stars rather than 5 stars. Issue 1 was the fact that the remote is required to operate this device. If you break or lose the remote, the only function you can control is on/off. I located a second Dyson branded remote for about $25 for the two seating locations in my living room. Reason 2 is that if I press the fan speed button upward or downward quickly, it activates my McIntosh MX-122 home theater preamp controlled audio system. That’s a really quirky adverse event that won’t affect many users but it got my attention. If I press the fan speed buttons slowly, it does not activate the McIntosh. Hence my 4-star rating. Overall, this Dyson unit is a better but pricier option than my tower fan. It looks good, works well enough from me and I can work around the shortcomings I described above. Hope this data helps!

Perfect Little Giant

I didn’t feel it was producing the same results as when I bought it so I figured it was time for a new one. I use this little unit to heat a 10’ x 22‘ Second story bedroom. I set it on 72° and that is what it maintains. The temperature for the last two weeks has not been above freezing with Lows around zero. I put it in the center of the room and let it osculate and it cycles on and off. Have not seen a big difference to my electric bill. I feel this little giant is well worth the money. I can’t imagine winter without one.

Not an air purifier as listed on bestbuy.com

This fan/heater is NOT AN AIR PURIFIER which is what you would believe if you searched for air purifier on Best Buy's website. Not only does this model come up in the search as an air purifier but all the specs list it as one even telling you what kind of HEPA filter it has. It does not have a HEPA filter because it is not an air purifier. Their website also says that it is compatible with things such as Google Assistant which it is not. I downloaded the Dyson app and tried to set it up with Google Assistant as suggested online. I can't say that Dyson is at fault because if you go to their website they list it as a fan/heater. Best Buy seems to be the primary place that lists it as an air purifier. I'm not sure if Best Buy is misinformed, saying it's a purifier just to push units, or has some other reason for listing it as an air purifier. This is just bad business on the part of Best Buy.

Cool looking but is built cheap not worth it.

While you can say its my fault for not checking i actually asked two employees who both told me it did. I bought it for 299.99 pretty expensive for a fan but said it has the filter and can act as a fan and heater and fan cooling so i bought it. Well i got home set it up and was pretty dissapointed the product feels extremely cheap like if you have hard wood floors it break or dent if tipped over. For paying a premium for a fan pretty much it has nothing else different from a regular fan/heater its cool and heat feature is cool and it is probably the best looking fan on the market thats pretty much all it has going for it so I ended up buying the shark hc452 and has all the features i wanted so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative that is an option and i actually really like it.

Now that its cold Im feeling the chilly weather. I ordered this to use in the garage and while its small it does the job well. Im no longer feeling cold. I was also concerned about tripping the breaker as I have a lot of stuff plugged into the one outlet but no issues there. Even while gaming using a 4090 no issues!

My son uses this in his room which is always cold because his room is on the bottom floor. This fan warms his room up quickly and we dont worry about everything else fusing like it would with our other portable heater. I am a little worried about him losing the remote since I dont see any other way to use the fan. I will probably attach an air tag to it. Ill update my review in the summer regarding the cool setting!
