I have been a user of Eufy cameras for many years. Currently I have 7 cameras around my house. I just replaced 2 of my outdoor cameras with these. I was very intrigued when I saw pictures of how good the night vision is on these, more about that later.
Out of the box these are obviously very well built and rugged cameras that will easily withstand the elements. I live in southern Wisconsin so we get some very hot summers as well as very cold winters. I have never had a Eufy product fail because of the weather. They have always been rock solid and well-built devices.
Setting them up is a breeze. All you have to do is download the Eufy app (if you don’t already have a system set up) then click the little + icon to add a new camera and follow the steps in the app. You will be up and running in a matter of minutes!
Installing the cameras is also very easy too. They come with brackets to mount to a wall or roof. They brackets can easily be spun or tilted to make sure you get your cameras pointed exactly where you want. The cameras have the solar panels on top, but this kit also comes with an external solar panel in case where you are mounting your camera doesn’t get direct sunlight. You can just run the included cable to a place where there is sunlight and put the solar panel there. Note that there is only one external panel included in this kit so if you need one for each camera you will have to purchase a second one separately.
In the app you can control a bunch of different settings like if you want it to detect only humans or pets or all motion. You can customize the alerts you get as well as the recording and live streaming options. These also have bright spotlights on them as well that you can also customize in the app. Eufy has been very good over the years of keeping the app updated and they constantly are adding new features.
Now let’s get to how these cameras perform. During the daytime these cameras are very crisp and clean and it is the best looking video I have seen out of any wireless security camera, and I have owned every major brand). Obviously if you try to zoom in tight you will get some grain, but during the day you will have no problem picking out details and colors of things.
Now lets get to the night vision, something I was very curious to try out. I have to say I was absolutely blown away at how good the night vision was. I will include a screenshot below of an area where I had an older Eufy camera and this new one, and you will see how drastic of a difference it is. The picture below is also without the spotlight even turned on. It literally almost turns night into day! If you do use the spotlight, you will get even more amazing night vision video. I have to say if you are looking for a wireless system for use in very dark areas, you are not going to find anything better!
As always, Eufy cameras do a great job of picking up exactly what you want to be notified about. If I set it to humans or pets, that is all it picks up and notifies me about. You won’t be getting tons of notifications of a tree blowing in the wind or if a car drives by if you don’t want to.
Also included is the Home Base 3. With previous Eufy cameras, a lot of them had storage within the camera and if you wanted online storage you had to pay for it. With the Home Base 3 you can add up to a 16TB hard drive to record all of your videos in one central location inside your house. There is 16GB of storage onboard, but you have to option to add a larger hard drive (sold separately). The home base is also just as easy to set up as the cameras in the app. It will record all of your footage, and the best part, no monthly fees!
With cameras as good as this, and no monthly fees, this security system is a no-brainer! If you are serious about protecting your home, property, and family, this is the system you need!

Easy Set-up & Install, Excellent Image Quality

SET-UP
I’m already invested in the Eufy ecosystem. Having many of their other smart products including dead bolts and video doorbells. They have worked flawlessly over the past couple of years, but when initially installed I only had a HomeBase 2 to connect everything to. The HB2 was growing extremely long in the tooth and in desperate need of an upgrade as it lacked product integration and AI intelligence. I was extremely happy when the S3 Pro kit arrived with a new Homebase 3.
The HomeBase 3 is the brains behind the Eufy ecosystem. Cameras, doorbells, locks, etc. are all connected through the HomeBase. The HomeBase is what contains the A.I. processing allowing push notifications based on person and/or object identification. You can program faces into the app so the HomeBase can identify individuals. Your push notifications will then either give you the name of the person the HomeBase “sees”, or you can tell it to ignore familiar faces. While not flawless. It works pretty well.
New owners will have no problem setting up the system. The entire process is simple and quick. The most time-consuming part was plugging up the cameras and letting the fully charge before installation. The Eufy app has been continuously refined over the years and has remained nearly unchanged for quite some time. Users should find it intuitive and easy to navigate.
Existing owners of Eufy products will hate the configuration process. Why? Because Eufy provides no means to migrate existing equipment to a new HomeBase. If you are upgrading HomeBases like I am, you will need to uninstall EVERY Eufy device from your account, reset it, and then go through each product’s configuration process all over again. It is a tedious and time-consuming process. Frustrating and annoying.
If you are not already into the Eufy ecosystem, the entire set-up process should only take about 15 minutes, at most. That includes firmware updates. Eufy has done a great job of incorporating QR codes and high-pitched audio to identify and install their products. The process works great and is so easy.
INSTALLATION
The S3 Cam Pros are so easy to set-up, it isn’t even a challenge. Quick, simple, efficient. 1. Click the + sign at the top of the app to add a product. 2. Select battery camera. 3. Select the S3 Pro. 4. Place the S3 within 1 meter of the Homebase. 4. Click the Sync button.
That’s it. Within 30 seconds, the camera is identified and added to your app. The app guides you through installation, placement, and configuration of recording and push notifications. It even lets you take the camera outside and before installation to test its Wi-Fi signal. AWESOME!!!
As I have excellent Wi-Fi coverage, I chose to receive the “Full Effect” push notifications which includes thumbnails and notifications. One thing to consider. The HomeBase 3 only comes with 16GB of onboard eMMC storage. Cameras recording events in full 4k resolution QUICKLY eats up available storage. Eufy’s HomeBase 3 includes the ability to add an additional 2.5” hard drive to expand storage up to 16TB. Expanding storage should be considered a must for any homeowner.
The new S3 Cam Pro models are slick. They can render color images in nearly pitch-black conditions. Their ambient light sensor and image processing are very good. While some objects are not quite perfectly on point for color reproduction, they are not grotesquely inaccurate. Eufy even includes 4 different options to adjust their colorization, including the option to render it in classic black and white. But doesn’t that defeat the point of having a fancy new image processing system? Seeing cars and wildlife in color at night is slick!
NEGATIVES
The first and most obvious negative is the limited amount of onboard storage in the HomeBase. 16GB gets eaten up very quickly, especially with heavy pedestrian or vehicle traffic. Because the HomeBase doesn’t support SD or MicroSD card expansion, anticipate buying a 2.5” HDD if you don’t already have one. That increases the overall cost of the system. I was fortunate enough to have a leftover Samsung 250GB SSD that I wasn’t using. I installed it and the HomeBase hated it. Unfortunately, it took at least a half dozen attempts to get it to recognize the drive and format it. I’m not alone. The interwebs are loaded with folks having similar issues. Some folks never achieving success.
Second. Even with a VERY strong 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and my HomeBase 3 hardwired directly into my network, live video can take anywhere from 5 – 20 seconds to activate. A speed increase from sleep to live streaming is much needed. But to be fair, I have cameras that I’ve tested from this program and those lag as well, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement.
Third. Why Eufy chose to include what they did in the S3 Cam Pro Kit baffles me. For example, there are only 2 cameras in the kit, but Eufy includes 3 mounting bases. Why? Most importantly, Eufy only includes 1 extra solar panel for charging. Why? 2 solar powered cameras in a kit, but only 1 optional extra solar panel to ensure they stay fully charged. Most of the cameras will be mounted under soffits with limited sunlight. So Eufy gives you 3 mounting bases, but only 1 solar panel in the kit? Makes no sense to me.
CONCLUSION
The new S3 Pro kit is a great system. I’ve used Eufy products for several years now and their products always continue to improve with each new generation. The new HomeBase3 and S3 Cam Pros are a great addition to the Eufy ecosystem. Image quality is great, system reliability is very good, and the app and entire installation process is as easy as it gets.
To add the icing on the cake, the Eufy ecosystem stores everything on the HomeBase3 which is secured inside your house removing stored video from a vulnerable device outside of the house. But, the biggest benefit to the whole Eufy system is eliminating the need to yet another monthly or yearly subscription service.
If you are in the market for a home security system that is robust, expandable, and reasonably priced, the Eufy ecosystem should be on your list.

Impressive Wireless Security Camera Package

There may not be a better wireless security system than the Eufy S3 Pro. The 4K video is super crisp. The camera performs well in low light. A.I. detection is super impressive. Battery and charging have been great with the built-in solar charging. Add to this the S380 Base station with the ability to add a 2.5 SSD or HD. This is an impressive package.
Setup: Eufy provides a lot in the box. In addition to the two cameras, Eufy includes three mounting bracket kits, and the S380 base station. My family is currently living in a 1,700sqft house. I mounted the cameras on each corner of the front of the house. Eufy includes three mounting kits, but you only need two. Still, I appreciated the extra kit. You could easily set up another mount and move a camera as needed.
The Eufy S380 base station comes with 16GB of storage built in. However, I had an old 250GB Samsung SSD lying around. I was able to install the drive and format it from the Eufy app with little difficulty. I had the base station in a room towards the back of the house plugged into my home network through the included network cable.
Experience: This is the best wireless camera system that I have ever used. This replaces my prior favorite, the Eufy S230. The application setup process is amazingly easy. You need to set up the S380 base station before you can set up the cameras. Then when setting up the cameras, make sure you are in the same room as the base station to sync the cameras for the first time. After the cameras were charged and synced with the base station, mounting was relatively simple. The trick is finding an area with sufficient sunlight through the day.
Especially after upgrading from the S230, I was impressed by how much smaller the S3 Pro cameras are compared to the S230. They have a much smaller profile and are more difficult to see from the street.
I had impressive range with the cameras synced to the S380 base station. Again, my house is not the biggest. But I had excellent signal on both cameras with the base station near the rear of the house and the cameras out front.
The 4K image quality is great. It is super sharp. There are multiple “nighttime” modes. I prefer the “day like” mode which significantly brightens the shot.
Over the last few days, the battery life has been exceptionally good. Even with close to fifty recordings in a day, I never saw the battery life of the camera dip more than three or four percent and the battery was fully charged after a few hours the following day.
Users should know that there was a camera firmware update out of the box. It takes a few minutes for the firmware to download and update. The base station will flash red, and the Eufy Security App will notify you that an update is in progress.
The Eufy App experience is super easy to use on both Apple and Android devices. The system is compatible with Google Home.
If I had any nitpicks, I wish the software worked with mapping software to map targets and show their movement. I also wish the cameras had a lens capable of physically zooming in. Vehicles and people are clear, but trying to see a license plate on a car going down the street or parked across the street is difficult.
Conclusion: This is a great system. These cameras look and perform very well. The base station with expandable storage is a fantastic addition for those who prefer local storage. A few years ago, I recommended the S230 to my friends and family, now I am highly recommending the S3 Pro.

This is the highest quality camera I have ever used. The app is great and there are no subscriptions required. I love the ability to install a hard drive which lets me repurpose an old laptop drive I haven’t used in ages. The camera quality is amazing and the solar panels are icing on the cake.
Setup:
Simply download the app and it will walk you through the process. You have to pair the base unit first then you can add cameras. It will walk you through the installation of the cameras which includes WiFi strength at the location you plan to mount it at.
Camera quality and use:
I am very impressed. The WiFi signal was strong on my porch and backyard so I set it to 4K which works perfectly. Night quality is also great, I attached a sample to this review which shows much more light than was actually present as it was well after sunset.
The device provides notifications when it feels there is anything worthwhile to report. It rarely misses anything interesting and I get alerts when it sees people or motion which provides some cool pictures of deer.
Mounting options are great as the included mounts have great range of motion and screw into pretty much any surface you are willing to drill into. You can also add on a solar panel accessory sold separately if you have concerns as to how much sunlight the device will receive.
Storage and expansion:
Though the base station comes with 16GB of storage built in, I installed a 1TB 2.5” SSD drive in the Homebase 2 which took just fine. The manual says there is no capacity limit and it will recognize a HDD or SSD so long as it is SATA 2.5”.
The manual also states that you can add up to 16 eufyCams to your setup. The unit I got comes with two so this is good to know I would like a third to properly cover my house.
Extra features:
The device has “AI Empowerment” which is supposed to help it determine people, animals and vehicles with more accuracy.
Face management is great as you can manually add faces for it to recognize via photos.
There is also an anti-theft feature which, as I understand, should notify you if it detects someone grabs it and sounds an alarm to scare people away.
Last, there is an alarm on the home base you can set up though I haven’t quite worked that one out at time of review.

I’ve used a couple of Eufy SoloCam cameras for a few years now and really like them. I was able to install the SoloCams and then not have to touch them again—they just work and stay charged through the summers and winters. When I saw these new S3 Pro solar cameras available, I thought I’d try them out and expand my Eufy camera coverage. So far, I’ve been super pleased with the new S3 Pros.
One obvious difference with the new cameras is they work with the included S380 HomeBase. The older cameras I have just connect to my home WiFi which I kind of liked because I have a mesh system with very wide coverage around the house. However, with the HomeBase you get centralized storage and AI processing. If you can place the HomeBase where all your cameras can reach it, then you should be fine. I noticed that my existing SoloCams can be converted to use the HomeBase, but that’s still on my list of things to try.
The HomeBase needs to be cabled into your network (at least for now) to work. It comes with 16GB of built-in storage, and you can expand it up to 16TB by inserting your own 2.5” HDD or SDD. One of the greatest things about Eufy is keeping all your videos local, and the HomeBase steps that up a notch. One caveat to be aware of, though, is if you turn on rich notifications that include a thumbnail pic then those thumbnails do go into the cloud.
The S3 Pro cameras are also a big improvement over the older cameras I’ve been using. They’re now 4K video and have AI processing to help improve images at night. They’re also a little bigger and heavier. They include a 13Ah battery and with the bigger size also comes a larger solar panel which should help keep it charged up. According to the fine print in their specifications, the built-in solar panel can generate 450 to 900 mAh per day with “optimal sunlight.” This is, I’m sure, totally dependent on the angle of the camera to the sun and the time of year but is a pretty good range of power. They also mention that the S3 Pro uses 100 to 200 mAh per day with average use. My experience so far is that power should not be a problem. I have one camera that I started with a 90% charge, it’s installed facing south with a slight downward tilt, and one sunny day here in mid-November charged it to 100% by about noon.
I was pleasantly surprised that the kit also included an external solar panel so you can install one camera in a shadier location like the north side of your house. You would then just need to find a place to attach the solar panel within reach of the camera. Having an external panel for all the cameras would certainly give you more installation options, but it also adds to the cost.
The motion detection and AI have worked flawlessly so far. By default, the cameras have human detection on, but you can choose Face, Human, Vehicle, and Pet recognition. The Face option is used to differentiate between familiar faces and strangers. I’m primarily using my cameras for pet/animal detection, so I haven’t tried the Face setting. I’m also a little reluctant to let it learn my face and others in the family without knowing if any of that data goes to the cloud. But the camera has been perfect for recognizing humans, vehicles, and pets. So far, it has successfully included all animals it sees as “pets” including cats, possums, racoons, skunks, and large animals like horses and deer. Some other brand of cameras I use have a problem of flagging critters like that as humans about 25% of the time.
I only have one minor concern with the cameras and that is their operating temperature range. The high end is 122 degrees F which should (hopefully) never be a problem. But I’ve seen two values for the lower range: -4 and 14 degrees F. The main “glossy” part of the web page mentions 14 degrees, but the full specs say -4 F. Hopefully the correct value is the latter, but I guess we’ll see what happens this winter.
All in all, I’m super happy with these upgraded cameras and their 4K video. Within the first couple of nights, I captured a crystal-clear video of a buck walking through our yard at 4am and it was as clear as daylight. And most importantly, the motion detection and notifications have worked flawlessly. I’ll likely get a couple more of these cameras to expand my coverage around the house.

Premium security without Subscription Fee

The EufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is an impressive addition to the outdoor security camera market, bringing a host of advanced features like 4K resolution, dual motion detection technology (radar + passive IR), solar charging, and subscription-free storage. Here are the standout features that I feel make this system a worthwhile investment compared to other options on the market, particularly its local storage, which is a big selling point for me.
Advanced Security Features:
• 4K Ultra HD with MaxColor Vision Technology: The combination of 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840×2160) and a 135° field of view delivers exceptional image clarity and coverage. The MaxColor Vision technology provides color night vision without needing a spotlight, producing impressive footage even in low-light conditions. Unlike many other cameras that require bright, intrusive spotlights to deliver color night vision, the MaxColor Vision feels less disruptive and offers superior low-light performance.
• Motion Detection with Dual Technology: Using radar and PIR sensors, the motion detection system ensures high-quality surveillance year-round. The adaptive spotlight further enhances night vision by triggering only when needed and adjusting to the area’s lighting conditions, providing the best possible footage. This dual detection system immediately stood out for me because it eliminated the false alerts I frequently encountered with my previous cameras, which would constantly notify me about small movements like small animals passing by.
Camera Design and Core Features:
• Long-Lasting Battery and Solar Charging: The 13,000mAh battery offers months of use on a single charge. Combined with SolarPlus 2.0 technology, it provides an essentially maintenance-free experience. For cameras installed in shaded areas, there’s also the option to add an external solar panel for extended energy capture. I specifically liked this feature because it eliminates the frequent recharging hassle I dealt with in my older cameras, which often failed during critical moments due to battery drain.
• Durability: The cameras are well-built with an IP67 rating, designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. Many cameras I’ve tried in the past struggled to maintain consistent performance (mainly holding the charge) in extreme weather, so the S3 Pro’s reliability in this area will be a game-changer for me.
• Local Storage and Privacy: The kit includes 16GB of local storage (expandable up to 16TB) via the HomeBase, eliminating the need for long-term subscription fees while keeping your data private and secure. This solved one of my biggest frustrations—unnecessary subscription fees that added up over time, even though I didn’t need cloud storage for 80% of my usage.
• Smart Home Integration: Seamless compatibility with Google Home, Apple HomeKit, and Amazon Alexa makes it easy to integrate cameras into your existing smart home ecosystem. It just took me a few minutes to add it to my Google Home ecosystem for home automation.
Overall Impression:
The EufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is designed to last for years without the hassles of frequent recharging or subscription fees. Its combination of advanced features, durable design, and ease of use makes it a no-brainer for replacing older cameras that require constant maintenance or paid subscriptions. For me, the high-quality footage, dual motion detection, and subscription-free local storage make it a standout choice in outdoor security.

Great Local Security System

I’ve always wanted to ensure my property was kept safe — even when I wasn’t there to look after it. I remember watching people rifle through my garbage that was set out for heavy trash pickup simply because it was accessible. The problem with that is that if someone were to get injured while on my property, I become liable for that. So, I like to make sure that my bases are covered with security cameras. I have several around the house, including eufyCams. When the opportunity to add these two solar-powered cameras and the newer HomeBase to my system, I couldn’t pass that up.
The first thing I did — even before unboxing it — was to see if my current Eufy products were compatible (2 x eufyCam 2 Pro, Smart Drop, Floodlight Cam, Video Doorbell E340). Fortunately, they all were, but I had to transfer them from the HomeBase 2 over to the HomeBase S380, which comes with the eufyCam S3 Pro. This should have been a painless process. Eufy has it set up to where you can transfer devices from one hub to another as long as they are both connected to the same network. One of my cameras had to be charged, and the Smart Drop never gave me the option to transfer it. This was disappointing because it meant that I had to remove the Smart Drop and re-add it from its default state.
One of the reasons I like Eufy products is because they are extremely easy to use and set up. Aside from this transfer issue, I’ve never had any problems with getting them connected and working as they should. So having this little mishap was unfortunate. All that said, if this is your first eufyCam setup, it’s a very straightforward process.
First, you connect the HomeBase to Ethernet and power. The app will prompt you to update the firmware, which takes around 5 minutes. Next, you’ll add your cameras. The app will direct you to press the sync button on the bottom of the camera and wait for the HomeBase to capture the device. This should only take a moment or two. Then you are up and running.
The image quality is outstanding. I was absolutely amazed at how well images and video were picked up by the cameras — especially at night. I set one of the new cameras up on our front patio and one on our back patio. The back patio is much closer to the HomeBase than the front patio, so that camera does seem to be quicker to respond to connection requests than the other.
One of my favorite features of the Eufy cameras is that the HomeBase stores the recordings locally — not in a cloud somewhere. I’m grateful that these cameras have built-in solar panels. I did charge them completely before setting them up outside, so the solar panels keep them powered up. This was one of my biggest complaints about other cameras — having to charge them.
This is a great camera system, and I love the upgrades that Eufy has made in the past few years. I would recommend these to anyone looking to get a local security system.

PROS
+ 4K video capture with great resolution & detail
+ Amazing low-light and night-light camera resolution with MaxColor Vision tech
+ Solar panels do a great job of keeping the cameras charged, given they can get enough sunlight in their positions
+ Large extra solar panel included in the box for trickier mounting positions and more charging needed situations
+ Good motion detection and classification of objects (people, vehicles, animals, and general motion)
+ No mandatory monthly fees or cloud storage
+ App works seamlessly with good streaming quality
+ Spotlight on each camera, microphone, speaker, and infrared sensors
+ Homebase comes with 16GB of onboard storage and the ability to add more
CONS
- Face recognition is hit and miss with accuracy
- Only one extra solar panel included in the box, despite there being two cameras
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT:
I have been using Eufy cameras for a few years now and I have always had a great experience. I love that there is not a mandatory cloud storage fee like with some brands, and you can use the devices entirely locally if you want. With the homebase, you get 16GB of built-in storage, which can be more than enough if you are willing to be good with data clean-up, but you can also add a separate external hard drive for additional storage, up to 16TB. Even if using the devices locally, you can still connect to the cameras via the app when away from home to view the environment in real time, use the microphone to hear people, and respond back with the built-in speakers.
With the app, you can set-up alerts, configure the camera video, motion, audio, power, and other settings. When triggered, the cameras will record a snippet of the motion, up to a certain amount depending on your power settings (such as 20 seconds for a balanced profile or 60 seconds for more monitoring). You can then get push notifications to your phone for remote monitoring, or you can set the cameras up to take periodic snapshots of the environment if you want a more continuously tracked feed of the environment.
In terms of the S3 Pro Cameras themselves, they are all around excellent and the best wireless security cameras I have used to date. They have excellent resolution, a great field-of-view, and can stay charged via solar panels on the top of the cameras. So far in my testing, the cameras have stayed at 100% charge for about a week now, with a mix of sunny and overcast days. For additional charge, you get an extra, large solar panel which can be connected to a camera via a cable to provide extra charge and/or catch sunlight from an angle the camera might not be able to in its position. In my case, both cameras were positioned so that they did not need the external solar panel, but I do have one older Eufy camera with a similar external panel and it works exactly as advertised, providing plenty of charge for the camera year round. As long as you get enough sunlight, you should never have to take these cameras down to charge them, which really is awesome for wireless cameras. The only complaint I have in this regard is that you only get one extra solar panel in the box, so if both your cameras are positioned somewhere where you need the extra panel, you may need to look at purchasing another panel for the other camera.
Where the cameras matter most, in terms of monitoring and video quality, they excel, specifically with their nighttime performance. Both cameras are equipped with technology that Eufy calls MaxColor Vision, which is designed to capture motion in low-light scenarios in color and with detail. With my older Eufy cameras, this is one area where they typically struggled quite a bit. Typically black and white night vision worked well, but color always smeared motion and led to a lot of ghosting with moving objects, which defeated the purpose of motion tracking. With the S3 Pros, this is absolutely not the case anymore. You have different lighting settings based on your desired tracking, but the default mode gives a night vision mode which almost looks like daylight. You get color and motion that look almost like it is in natural light, without the need for the spotlight on the camera. One of the images I have included here with my review is from one of the cameras and was taken in the evening without any lights on in the backyard. It really is amazing how good the night vision is.
On the whole, I honestly have no real complaints with these cameras, homebase, app, or the user experience at all. The cameras are very easy to mount, easy to configure, and once set-up are pretty much self-sufficient, with no need to touch or take them down again unless you want to move them. The experience is very seamless, and puts an emphasis on privacy by not making you use their cloud services or send the photos away from your local storage. Really, the only performance issue I have, and it is an optional feature, is using the face recognition system, where you label people the camera sees, and it can identify them when it sees them again. I found the accuracy of this to be a bit spotty, often classifying people incorrectly or identifying random people falsely as people it knows. This may get better over time as Eufy refines the AI doing the labeling, but for now it is a mixed bag of performance. Thankfully, this is a very minor and optional feature, and one I don’t feel is necessary to get the value from the camera system. All-in-all, I highly recommend these cameras if you are in the market for wireless security without all of the hassle.

Standing out for its 4K resolution, solar-powered operation, and powerful AI-driven capability, the eufyCam S3 Pro is a remarkable and feature-rich outdoor security camera system. Based on my use, these are first impressions of the product.
Built with a strong, weather-resistant construction, the eufyCam S3 Pro is fit for outdoor use in many different weather conditions. The incorporated solar panels cause the cameras to be somewhat bigger than some rivals, but this bulk adds to their strong feel. The system comprises two cameras and a HomeBase 3, the core hub for networking and storage. Although their weight calls for safe placement, the wireless cameras make installation somewhat simple.
The 4K Ultra HD resolution of the eufyCam S3 Pro is one of its best qualities; it produces quite good video footage. From distance, the degree of detail is amazing whether it's capturing license plates or faces. Thanks to MaxColor VisionTM technology, which lets vivid color night vision without extra lighting, this clarity spans daytime and nighttime recording. The cameras generate near-daylight-quality images even in low-light environments, a major advance above conventional infrared night vision systems.
The eufyCam S3 Pro's SolarPlus 2.0 technology which lets the cameras run on solar energy is a main selling feature. With just one hour of sunlight per day, the cameras may remain totally charged and provide up to 365 days of battery life under ideal conditions. For those who wish not to worry about regular recharging or battery replacement, this function makes life quite handy. Should direct sunlight not be accessible at the camera's location, an external solar panel is also supplied for more flexible installation choices.
The eufyCam S3 Pro has a quite sophisticated motion detecting system. It precisely detects human movement using a mix of passive infrared (PIR) sensors and radar, therefore reducing false alarms brought on by external conditions as wind or animals. According to eufy, this twin detection technology greatly lowers false alarms by up to 99% which guarantees dependability and guarantees that only essential events set off sirens. Furthermore included in the system are AI-powered elements like object identification (e.g., vehicles, packages) and facial recognition, which thus improve its capacity to notify consumers just when needed. Monitoring high traffic areas like front entrances or driveways is perfect for this clever detecting system.
The local storage solution of the eufyCam S3 Pro is among its most enticing features. An external hard drive allows one to enhance the 16GB of internal storage that comes included with the HomeBase 3 to 16TB. This does away with the monthly subscription costs usually connected with cloud storage solutions provided by other companies. For those who value their privacy, users can keep complete control over their data and save their recordings locally.
Popular smart home ecosystems including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit all fit the eufyCam S3 Pro quite well. Apple's restrictions on video quality within HomeKit mean that while using Apple's HomeKit Secure Video service, video resolution falls from 4K to 1080p. Although some consumers who value ultra-high-definition video may find this frustrating, for those closely involved in Apple's ecosystem this is still a useful capability.
Two-way audio on a dual-microphone array captures crisp sound from up to 26 feet distant on the cameras. This lets consumers communicate straight through the camera using their smartphone app in addition to hearing what's happening on their land. A built-in siren can also be set off during security incidents as a further deterrent.
Configuring the eufyCam S3 Pro is simple. With few tools needed, the system may be setup in approximately thirty minutes. Users of the companion app find it easy to adjust parameters including motion detection sensitivity, activity zones, and night vision modes. Additionally included in the app are real-time alerts and access to live streams from anywhere.
The eufyCam S3 Pro has certain shortcomings even if overall it has many benefits.
• High Initial Cost: Comparatively to other security camera configurations, this system's upfront cost is somewhat high. Still, over time savings on subscription costs could outweigh this expense.
• Heavy Cameras: These cameras weigh more than comparable substitutes because of their size and built-in solar panels. More safe mounting methods are needed here.
• HomeKit Resolution Limitations: Apple HomeKit lowers video resolution from 4K to 1080p, therefore perhaps not meeting expectations for individuals who value ultra-high-definition footage.
The eufyCam S3 Pro presents a great mix between user ease and modern technologies. Among the top security camera systems on the market today, its mix of 4K video quality, clever AI capabilities, dependable solar power operation, and local storage free of monthly costs is unmatched. The eufyCam S3 Pro is a top contender in today's home security market for anyone serious about home security, For those looking for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance thanks of solar power and who value privacy by local storage—the eufyCam S3 Pro is a highly capable solution even if it comes at a premium price point and has some minor limitations—reduced resolution in HomeKit.

The EufyCam S3 Pro Wireless 4K Solar Powered Security Cameras with HomeBase 3 is without a doubt the best wireless security camera system on the market. I have used many big-name competitor security cameras (ie: Nest, Ring, Blink, and Arlo) and am absolutely blown away at how much better a product Eufy makes. I am never going back.
• Setup – The setup process is straightforward and overall pretty fast. There is an instruction booklet that has you download the Eufy Security app. Once the app is installed, you connect the HomeBase 3 to your router with the provided network cable. There was a firmware update that took about 5 minutes to complete. Once complete I was able to pair the wireless cameras. You must be within range of the HomeBase and once paired it has you take the camera to its desired location for Wi-Fi strength analysis. The anchors provided did not work well in the stucco walls of my house but were easily substituted for more robust anchors. Otherwise, the included hardware was sufficient for long-lasting installation.
• Image quality – The image quality is absolutely outstanding, especially in low light. Unlike with previous cameras I have owned which are pretty much useless at night, the EufyCam S3 Pro makes nighttime images look clear as day and without the need for a bright spotlight. The image detail is so clear during the day I can easily read vehicle license plates that stop by/on my driveway.
• Solar power – I initially charged these cameras prior to installation and have not needed to charge them again. The built-in solar power has kept that at nearly 100% since installation. One has the included secondary solar panel as it is near an overhang with suboptimal sunlight.
• Local security – One of the biggest selling points. All the recordings are saved on the included 16 Gb of built-in local storage, fully encrypted. You control and manage your own data, not a third-party company. The storage can be expanded up to 16 TB. This eliminates the required cloud based monthly storage fees other competitors charge.
Overall, the EufyCam S3 Pro Wireless 4K Solar Powered Security Cameras with HomeBase 3 is a must have if you want an easy to install, reliable, top-tier wireless security camera system. I was so impressed with these products that I have since ordered 2 more Eufy S3 Pro addon cameras as well as replaced my doorbell camera/door locks with Eufy devices. Eufy has definitely set the bar really high. Recommend no questions asked.

I am so glad to se Anker/Eufy ecosystem to grow at this level and being able to benefit of their great/thoughtful security it is beneficial for us the consumer side.
**The S3 Cam Pro / Solar powered is everything i have been waiting for years and i'm so happy that now it is available! The pack of 2 cameras it's great for now but i'm looking to add more cameras since i have their door bell and alarm system.
-It's easy and intuitive to set-up. The pack includes x2 cameras / hardware and a 3w solar panel in case you want to mount one of the devices in an area without direct sunlight which is very nice and thoughtful of them.
-No wires / no worries and *NO SUBSCRIPTION* local security at an incredible high performance that has all the extras u can dream off.
-LowLight king it's not a joke, besides the 4k quality and GREAT Connectivity wait till you put this camera to surveil darker areas, it is unreal how good they project the image and they don't miss anything even in the pitch black conditions.
-The built in solar charger gives hassle free charging and i'm so grateful for it since i hate running cables.
-2 way audio works great
-I wasn't able to find any lag in my setup
**The HomeBase 3 . It is required for and comes with the S3 Pro cameras.
- I love to see the improvement of the HomeBase3 that still has a nice sleek design with great speaker but seems to be much more powerful in terms of keeping the connection with the cameras. My Garage camera it's mounted the furthest from the base and i want to say there it has minimum lag with great response.
Very pleased with Eufy S3 Pro cameras i really think they live up to their Pro name and for the moment are the best in the industry! Don't forget that they do this keeping them Subscription Free! Love it

I have been really impressed with the eufy security camera system. The image quality is fantastic, the app and HomeBase software seem to work very well, and the focus on and commitment to privacy is excellent.
CAMERAS
This kit comes with two cameras, mounting brackets, and all the hardware you need. There’s also one extra solar panel to help with charging if one of your cameras is partially shaded. I mounted one camera toward the south side of my house; the other one, with the extra solar panel, I put toward the north side. To see how well the solar panels performed, I purposely left the camera batteries charged only to about 80% before I mounted them. About a week later, despite being in a northern latitude and having mostly cloudy fall weather, both cameras have maintained about the same level of charge through moderate use. The extra solar panel really helps pick up extra sunlight even in shady areas.
The included mounting hardware allows a lot of flexibility in mounting location and angle. You can basically position the cameras exactly how you want. And with no wires, installation is easy.
The images are really crisp. With 4K recording and big lenses, the cameras do an impressive job of picking up even small details like fall leaves or snowflakes. It has a night vision mode, but here in the city even on dark nights there was enough light that the camera worked great in regular mode. There’s also a really bright floodlight to help illumination (but again, it never got dark enough here to need it).
HOMEBASE
There’s a separate device that you put indoors that holds all the recordings and sort of interfaces with the cameras. I’m really impressed with this setup for a number of reasons:
First, privacy. A lot of systems like this will provide security and peace of mind by sending all your data and recordings to the cloud. The eufy system seems to do virtually everything on-device, not in the cloud, which means all your data is still your own data, and there’s much less risk that it will get hacked, stolen, or used for purposes that you might not want. Even advanced AI for detecting specific objects and doing facial recognition (to tell if a person is someone you know or not) is all on-device.
Second, ease of setup: Any system that involves connecting devices to a network is a little bit complicated and finicky, but setting this up was a breeze. It was basically plug and tap connect with the app. Curiously, the cameras pairing to the HomeBase used some kind of ultrasonic pairing mechanism, which was kind of cool and really easy to do. There was no error-prone steps like typing passwords or codes, no fuss with signal strength or anything. It just worked, without a lot of extra steps. The setup process on the app also walked through mounting placement, signal strength, etc. to head off any potential problems.
One downside to the setup was that apparently HomeBase needs to be plugged in to Ethernet to set up. It actually does support WiFi, and can operate as a range extender for the cameras, but I wasn’t offered a way to set up WiFi until after it was all configured with Ethernet.
Third, ease of use: HomeBase’s AI for detection and faces seems to work really well. I haven’t seen any false positives. This morning it even detected a human on the edge of the neighbor’s porch, and I had to look 3 times before I saw it myself! It’s got all the features you’d expect, and they all work really well. The HomeBase has plenty of onboard storage. Additionally it has a slot for an additional hard drive, plus USB ports for external storage. The system is definitely designed for expansion, and with as well as these cameras function I’m eager to try out other components of the eufy Security ecosystem!

INCREDIBLE NIGHT VIDEOS!

I have been using Eufy security cameras for several years, including a 2K video doorbell, eufyCam 2 Pro 2K security cameras and eufyCam 3, 4K Security cameras. Their performance has generally been good, and the advantage of not being required to have a subscription cloud storage account is important.
The eufyCam S3 Pro attracted me with new features which I feel are an excellent improvement on the eufyCam 3 cameras that I already have. The fact that these new cameras also integrate easily with my current Eufy ecosystem is another important consideration. My experience with Eufy cameras over the past several years has generally been good, but not perfect. I have experienced some hardware and some software/firmware problems. The assistance received for those issues has been a mixed bag.
The eufyCam S3 Pro Security Camera System (Model T88921W1) is a complete kit which includes two S3 Pro, IP-67 rated, “Weatherproof”, solar charged 4K video cameras and a Model S380 HomeBase 3 hub. The kit includes all of the necessary camera mounting items, including screw-on mounting bases (camera attaches via a ¼”-20 threaded stud), as well as the hardware to facilitate mounting on various surfaces including wood or masonry. A USB-A to USB-C cable for the initial charging of the cameras and a flat Ethernet cable for connecting the HomeBase 3 to a router during the initial setup process are also included. Eufy also includes a 5.5”x5.5” solar panel, which can be remotely mounted in the event that one camera is in a location with insufficient sunlight to maintain the battery charge.
The eufyCam S3 Pro camera is an improved and upgraded evolution of the prior Eufy S330 cameras. The most significant improvements are the “MaxColor Vision” feature and a superior camera module. While the S330 cameras have an f 1.4 aperture, the S3 Pro cameras have a larger f 1.0 aperture and 1/1.8 inch stacked CMOS sensor with a 135° wide angle field of view. The MaxColor Vision feature significantly elevates the nighttime performance of these cameras! While the cameras also have four LED IR emitters for night videos in monochrome, infrared mode, and four adaptive intensity LED “spotlights” which can be selected for color night videos at the expense of additional power consumption and calling attention to the cameras, the MaxColor Vision produces video images which appear as bright as if they were shot during daylight. This “night-vision” capability is really incredible for home security cameras. Apparently the large, f 1.0 aperture combined with the stacked image sensor gathers as much ambient light as possible, and the powerful AI augmented image signal processing and interpolation synthesize a daylight bright, full color video during the dark of night. The MaxColor video loses some sharpness and detail as compared to native videos, but it is still good quality.
One of the appealing attributes which differentiates many Eufy systems from others, is that videos are stored locally on the Eufy HomeBase 3 hub which is equipped with 16GB of built-in eMMC flash memory. No cloud storage account is required with a recurring fee. 16GB of storage will hold many videos for a long time, before older files will be overwritten by new videos. The storage capacity has never been a problem for me with my S330 4K cameras. If there are video files that I want to preserve, I download them from the HomeBase contemporaneous with their creation. In the event that you really need or want to store lots of videos for extended periods of time, the HomeBase 3 has a hard-disk slot which will accept any 2.5” hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD) up to 16TB.
Setup of the EufyCam 3 Pro Security Camera System is very simple and straightforward. Initial setup and all device configuration and management functions are accomplished with the Eufy Security smartphone app (Android or iOS). Initial setup requires connecting the HomeBase 3 to a Wi-Fi router with the supplied Ethernet cable. Thereafter the Eufy Security smartphone app and HomeBase 3 provide step-by-step instructions, including audio guidance. Adding the new HomeBase 3 and two 3 Pro cameras to my existing Eufy “Home” and migrating the HomeBase 3 from Ethernet to Wi-Fi only required about 15 minutes.
The EufyCam S3 Pro features and capabilities are extensive and robust. Well implemented Artificial Intelligence (AI) software with Eufy “Bionic Mind” AI learning, accurately and effectively differentiates humans, animals/pets and vehicles, and supports creation of a Facial Recognition database using images supplied by the user or captured from the Eufy cameras. Attach the person’s name to the face and receive notifications of who is captured on a camera with known persons being differentiated from “strangers”. I cannot help but chuckle whenever the app asks for confirmation “Is this a pet?” when bobcats approach my house and trigger the cameras. “Small animal” would be a more appropriate label rather than “pet” to accompany the “Is this a person?” and “Is this a vehicle?" interactive AI confirmation prompts. Eufy has augmented the motion detection mechanism of the S3 Pro cameras by adding radar detection to the passive infrared (PIR) technology. The use of dual-technology motion detection should reduce the likelihood of “false activations” for triggers like windblown foliage. Additionally, Eufy claims a new expanded motion detection sensitivity distance of up to 40’.
Camera features include user-defined motion detection zones, privacy zones (motion exclusion) and detection sensitivity settings for each camera. Among the important features and options which can be configured are those of motion detection boundaries and sensitivity, video quality, power management, notification options and more. I particularly like the “Automation” option to activate recording from both security cameras when motion is detected on either one. Another new feature is “24/7 Smart Snapshots” which creates a quasi-time-lapse record. I am presently using the feature with the snapshot capture interval at 15 minutes. The new “Cross Camera Tracking” AI feature which stitches together videos from both cameras for the same event has not yet been implemented by Eufy. In motion activated video mode, there often is a latency interval while the camera awakens for video recording, as well as for the second camera to start recording after the triggered camera. There is also a variable, sometimes lengthy delay for the transmission of the smartphone alerts. Resultantly, some recordings begin too late to capture the initial several seconds of the triggering event, and the phone notification is sometimes delayed even further.
The cameras have a large 13,000 mAh Li-Ion battery. The S3 Pro cameras have a solar panel on top that is intended to maintain the battery at full charge under most circumstances. The solar panel is of a redesigned construction from the panels on the original S330 cameras which sometimes suffered from delamination. The panel is also physically larger. If options such as “Optimal Surveillance” mode, which allows for clip length up to 60 seconds is used, battery drain is increased. There is also a “Customize Recording” selection for even greater flexibility. The new Solar Plus 2.0 technology is claimed to improve solar efficiency to where one hour per day of adequate sun exposure will maintain a full charge.
So far, the built-in solar panels are not maintaining a full charge on either camera despite plentiful direct sun exposure. I am forming the impression that the S3 Pro cameras are more power hungry than my S330 cameras which also have a 13,000 mAh battery. I may need to change settings to consume less power at the expense of functionality, or to explore other potential issues. Only time will tell.
Live streaming is supported, as well as bidirectional audio via the cameras built-in speaker and microphone. However, it experiences latency, and effective real-time communication can be difficult. Live camera feed also encounters a delay.
Eufy cameras communicate with the Homebase on a private 2.4 GHz network, and the Homebase 3 connects to only 2.4 GHz channels of your Wi-Fi network. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not supported for either. Eufy represents utilizing 256 bit AES encryption for both video transmission and storage on the HomeBase 3. However, it is not clear where the videos which are being streamed or downloaded are decrypted. I suspect that decryption is a server based operation along with the thumbnail image creation for activity alert notifications.
The S3 Pro system has crisp, clear high-resolution 4K video. This allows enlargement / zooming-in (8x digital zoom via screen pinch) with reasonably sharp detail. Infrared video during hours of darkness is also sharp and clear, and the 4 LED IR emitters appear to have good illumination range. The cameras also have four white LED “spotlights”, the use of which is selectable in the app. These LEDs allow full-color night videos. I found the LED light to have excellent reach, and the new “adaptive” brightness prevents “washing out” / overexposure of subjects close to the cameras. The camera specifications and features are impressive, and integration with the HomeBase 3 and configuration and utilization with the Eufy smartphone app are all very good.
I like the EufyCam S3 Pro Security Camera System. I am hoping that the solar power performance will improve. S3 Pro supports integration with other Eufy devices as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit (limited to 1080p video by Apple). Eufy promises a future implementation of the ability for continuous video recording (rather than motion activated) when a camera is connected full-time to an external power source. I imagine that a large disk drive will be essential in the HomeBase 3 when serving as an NVR around the clock. The bright night videos are very compelling!

No monthly fees! Great, speedy motion/human notifications. Pretty easy to integrate into Apple HomeKit. Cameras are in a moderately sun exposed area, and after a week, I see no reason to ever take them down to manually charge, though that seems pretty easy to do if I ever have to. I’d recommend!

I first stated using Eufy as my main camera system 5 years ago and this set of cameras is definitely the best one I’ve used yet. One of the main things I liked about Eufy the first time I used their cameras was the ease of use, especially during the setup process. With this system I was able to upgrade my two HomeBase 2 systems I was using to the HomeBase 3. This allows me to use some cameras I had that would only work with a HomeBase 3.
Unboxing you get the two solar powered cameras, one external solar panel, the HomeBase, one USB-C cable and mounts. It’s nice having the external solar panel if you want to mount one camera in an area with limited sunlight like under an eaves. Also, it’s nice to see Eufy has moved to USB-C for charging. The HomeBase 3 comes with 16gb of storage, but you can add your own SSD for up 16TB of storage, which is massive.
Using the cameras I noticed a huge improvement in terms of quality from my other Eufy cameras especially when zoomed in at night. With this system you notice a lot more detail due to the 4k sensor, this is especially important when you’re trying to get detail of something like a vehicle or the license plate at night. Although the Eufy app is excellent, I wish they would add the ability to snooze all the cameras you have with one button. When doing work outside my house like say cutting the grass, I have to silence my cameras individually, which can be a pain sometimes. I’ve used Eufy cameras for many years and though not perfect they’re still one of my favorite security camera brands. You get an easy to setup and operate product without a monthly subscription and local storage instead of the cloud for extra piece of mind.

[PROS]
Quick Feed Retrieval: Accessing live footage is crucial for any security system and the S3 Pro. As a preexisting owner of eufyCam products, I've always had issues with getting feed video instantly. I was able to rule out my internet connection quickly given that I have a 1 Gbps service. It seems that having the HomeBase connected to via ethernet makes accessing the cameras easier.
Crispy Video Quality: I have a 1440p eufy camera, but the 4K is a nice bump up in quality. The video looks clear even at night. I've attached a screenshot for reference. The footage is best viewed on a 4K display but a 1440p phone should still show an impressive shot.
Accurate Detection: The eufyCam performed exceptionally well in detecting faces. In videos, it actually captures multiple face shots of people walking on the sidewalk. Functionality like this helps me to breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to theft or mischievous activity.
Other positives: Microphone and alert features like lights/sirens work pretty well. They do stand out well enough to deter criminals.
[CONS]
Solar Panel Mount Dilemma: I'm very appreciate of the inclusion of a Solar Panel as well as a mount. Unfortunately, it's a drill based mount, and I had to purchase a rain gutter version because I didn't want to drill into my roofing structure. Regardless, this was the first security suite that actually included a mount so I'm thankful.
Lost Footage: I added a physical hard drive to the HomeBase but seem to lost access to older footage prior to setup. When I click on the days prior to installing the HomeBase, the previous videos are lost. It also seems like my video footage may not be transferring to the drive properly or could be filling up the internal camera storage before transferring to the hard drive. I'm still troubleshooting so hopefully I can provide a positive update.
[CONCLUSION]
The eufyCam S3 Pro kit is a professional level product for a security needs. Having a pair of wireless 4K cameras that can be connected to an internal hard drive make this a complete solution. It's responsive and provides easy access to files. I'm just working through setup quirks that may be self induced however. Overall, I will continue to happily use this product moving forward.

Best Outdoor System I've Seen

TL;DR
Pros:
- Free local storage, no monthly fees
- Great wireless connectivity
- Clear video and sound
- Lots of features
- Great detection
- Fantastic low light
- Simple, easy app
Cons:
- DIRECT sunlight
- Limited Web access
The eufyCam S3 Pro bundle is awesome. The 4K looks so good. My favorite part is having local expandable storage so you don't have to pay a monthly fee. So far I've used 25% of the storage in a week. So this should last about a month and then I can clear off or archive the footage. Through the app you can easily access the videos. There is a time slotted web page you can view too but the max timeout is 24 hours. I understand the privacy protection but it gets annoying to have to authenticate the web page everyday. The videos load quickly and motion notifications are near instantaneous from the app. Installing this system I felt immediately safer especially with my packages.
Installation on wood siding was pretty easy. The screws are a little soft and I ended up stripping some so I recommend using pilot holes even though the instructions don't suggest it. The solar panels MUST have DIRECT sunlight. I can't get the slightest charge from them on the sunniest days this winter because where I need them the sun apparently doesn't hit directly. This is a little disappointing since they aren't tucked directly under an over hang. I will have to find time to check outside hourly to find a sunny spot that will also get me the area coverage I need. Luckily the battery life is pretty good and seems like one charge could get you about a month. It only comes with one external solar panel that I will most likely have to use. I think a better design would have been making the on camera solar panels detachable since most people will have to mount them separately. My porch has a two story ceiling and apparently the sun just never gets past it.
I'm very impressed with the video quality and sound. The cameras pick up a lot of little sounds from the end of my driveway to the garage. My porch was pretty much black with the light off and the cameras were able to produce a good color video with the low ambient light. The object detection for human and animals worked very well. I'm also impressed with the speed of everything. 4K videos are captured and motion notifications sent out fast over a wireless network. The signal is surprisingly strong at the far edges of the house. The encrypted connection is fast to view the videos. There are a lot of AI features I don't plan on using but a nice one was to not trigger on family faces. I didn't use this because I want to see all activity around the house so that I knew when people come home or leave.
I would definitely recommend this system but caution with the solar panels to make sure your desired locations are compatible. Else just save the money and get the non-solar ones. This is a big reason I had to drop the overall rating down. Other than that these are the best outdoor cameras and system that I've seen.

I upgraded my eufy 2 cams to these because I felt they didn’t pick up movement from far enough away or consistent. The pro cams pick up movement almost everytime and from much farther away. The video is very clear too I’m glad I bought them. Highly recommended

The cameras, video quality, build quality, and base station overall are very very great, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t trust the battery life too much especially if you have a lot of activity notifications or want to use a majority of the features of the camera. It definitely should last if you have proper sunlight, but if not, it might be a bit more difficult and the cameras might die a bit more often especially if you like to watch the feed live a lot. Overall, I would highly recommend them, but I would say get them on sale instead of full price.
