Essential wilderness device

The connected app works great. Service plan is somewhat expensive but it could literally save your life with all the dead zones everywhere still.

Nice device, but service is spendy

The device is great, but keep in mind Garmin demanded a monthly charge for using it, plus a setup fee.

Battery life as expected with the amount of use. We used tracking during the day and turned off the device at night to conserve battery. You do have to have the subscription to use, which is clear in the product description. Have not had to use the SOS function (*knock on wood*).

I don’t know if it uses more power searching for satellites like cellular does but I camped in a bit of a canyon. It took I long time to send messages and my battery was down to 13% after 4 days.
