I have only had my new dehumidifier for 8 hours. So far, I can say I am very happy with my purchase. If my opinion changes in the future, I will update my review. I live in a hot and humid area and it seems I am constantly battling humidity. This is my 3rd dehumidifier, all different brands. My experience is after this review. So, I picked it up from Best Buy and they loaded it into the back of my SUV. I guess to prevent it from tipping, they laid it on it's side. When I got home, the writing on the box states to not turn it on for a couple of hours if it was not upright. So, to play it safe, I unpacked it and let it sit upright for 3 hours. I knew I wanted to use the pump feature so I located the pump tubing in the bucket and proceeding to install it according to the manual. I really liked this installation. My old dehumidifier had a push to connect attachment. This one uses a hose barb that is in the center of the garden hose cover. So, right off the bat, that was the first difference I noticed. I read through the instructions to make sure I understood everything. They were not the best written, but not the worst either. I plugged it in and the display lit up to display the current humidity level. I also noticed that fan was set to high and it also indicated that pump is on. At one place in the manual, it suggests to run at 45-50% humidity for the first 24 hours. I set mine to 45%. My current humidity level at that moment was 47% and nothing was happening. I walked away and didn't worry about it. I figured it needed some time to acclimate. Later I thought I heard a quiet fan sound. I checked on it, nothing was happening and there was water in the pump hose. I was impressed. My last one was really noisy. Then I checked the bucket and the bucket was bone dry. This really made me happy. My last one had to fill the bucket before the pump would kick on. On the control panel, you depress the words, "Fan Speeds", "-", "+", "Timer" and "Filter Reset" to make adjustments. My last one had weird icons. So I appreciate the words that make sense. I don't have to pull out a manual to see what a symbol means.
So, to sum it up, I am impressed on my first day using this dehumidifier. I did get the service plan through Best Buy for peace of mind after my experience with my first dehumidifier. I hope I do not need it.
My experience with dehumidifiers is I bought a different brand dehumidifier last year and it failed in 6 months. The stats were similar to this dehumidifier. The manufacturer did nothing to honor the warranty. I also purchased a very pricey crawl space dehumidifier that has been working well.

Great dehumidifier but missing the filter

Great dehumidifier. It does the job well. It sucks the moisture out of the air in my basement. I love the auto shut off feature. Smart dry is my favorite part. But mines did not come with a filter and I didn’t realize it until weeks of usage and then having the change filter light come on.
I asked Best Buy in-store representatives for a filter and they said they do not have it but told me to visit Home Depot. I went to Home Depot and the agent there said they do not sell GE filters for dehumidifiers.

As I am the first to give my review on this new dehumidifier model, I want to tell you something. I had already had another dehumidifier of the same brand and it was noisier than this one and the drain pump was even louder and after a year it broke, luckily the two-year best buy warranty helped me. I had also had a Whirlpool and that filled the tank and the pump was removed when it was full. The downside is that the bucket catches mold and from time to time you have to take out the bucket and pour products to remove all that dirt that sticks to it. standing water for so long. Now I will talk if this model is quieter, the compressor and the pump are so quiet that you can feel the pressurized water coming out of the machine. Something I don't like about this model is that the (Nonstop) mode is not real, the compressor turns off more than 4 times a day, I have not only seen this in this model, since in the two previous dehumidifiers the compressor works continuously for 23 hours. a day and it will only turn off to rest for an hour that helps you get more moisture. This is my second unit of the same model, GE has a good design of its devices but they are no longer reliable like years ago and they are more likely to break after a year of being in operation. I recommend you pay extra for the Best Buy warranty for this type of unit. products trust me

Solid performance in dehumidifier class. Love the gray color, display on top is easy to understand and operate.
Really like the built in pump, so far it is trouble free.
Maintenance is normal, filter clean, water bucket clean and pump cleaning.

Have only had this dehumidifier since Aug, now it keeps getting E6 error every 4 or 5 days. I have to unplug wait and plug in again for it to work. I have a Keystone dehumidifier that I purchased from 2016 that is still running fine. From other reviews, it looks like this is a common issue with these units. I will look at warranty information for options.

Buy Geek Squad Warranty- Not reliable

So why 4 stars with no reliability because its better than all of the other brands i tried with pumps. This unit was a replacement to another pump brand that lasted 6 weeks, and a replacement to a non pump GE unit that lasted 18 months. So why still 4 stars, cause it works and you can tell it does. The unit has a clear tube and can see the water coming out. Also it does not fill a bucket and then pump, but pumps as it captures the water from the air. So why not 5 stars? It has limited options, high and low fan; no comfort mode, it is louder than other units and takes awhile to dehumidify the air. Overall happy, but with lack of GE reliability buy the extended warranty, you will be happier. Ps total reqards extended warranty will cost you $49 to replace, if you buy the geek squadr warranty it is less and has no fee for replacement. 2 replacements allowed per year when it fails you!

So far so good with this dehumidifier it is quiet & the hose is long enough to move the unit where I need it closer to the center of the room & still have it drain into the sump pump. The only thing it is missing is WiFi connectivity

I have had this dehumidifier for right at 6 months and it has worked perfectly until last week. I noticed it wasn't running and the screen had e6 on it. That is an error code saying something isn't reading to the panel. Turn it off, unplug it and worked fine for about 30 min. then same code. After a few days of that the panel lights up but nothing happens. I got in touch with GE and they don't want it back so I have to find a place to dispose of it and they will reimburse me to get another one. I will probably get the same one because when it works it works well. Just don't expect them to last like most things. I also got the extended warranty from Best Buy on it so I need to see if I can get some or all of that back.

I really like this dehumidifier. It's so much more quiet than our old one. The provided hose is not very big but so far the pump and hose seem to be removing all the humidity I need them to. I haven't tried the WIFI option yet but it's pretty much set it and forget it.
The hose is in the bucket, by the way and the nice folks at GE label that very clearly with a sticker.

Works well out of the box - pump is a great help as allows you to use different locations and push the water into a sink or drain. Can not comment on reliability though GE products are currently recommended by Consumer Reports. Out prior "generic" dehumidifier lasted just over a year and died.

No complaints so far. Works well, very quiet, and it's great to just have it draining directly into my utility sink instead of having to empty a container every day or two as with my old dehumidifier.

Amazing, bought this as a last ditch effort to rid our basement of the moisture that these spider crickets love because it was an infestation. When we put down sticky pads they would fill up in just a few hours and nothing worked to rid them, we didn't want to pay big bucks for an exterminator. Low and behold within 2 days the new sticky pads had nothing on them, the basement is dry and in the month or more that we've been using this we had maybe 3 or 4 spider crickets as opposed to filling 3 or 4 sticky pads within 12 hours. It's been running non stop and it's fed into the laundry drain. The internal pump works great and we never have to empty it ourselves and the dehumidifier just turns on when needed and turns off a our preset level. Excellent!

Had been looking for a dehumidifier with a pump. Turns out the only one with this in stock was Bestbuy and they were willing to ship to my house with no extra charge…. you have to pay precise attention to the instructions for hooking up the PVC drain line. But once that is done it works like a dream - mine goes to a sink in the cellar. Checkout with my Best Buy card easy as pie.

This has made my life so much more comfortable. I didn’t know much about dehumidifiers only humidifiers. I don’t have air conditioning so on hot days in Southern California, it’s almost unbearable for me with the humidity. This dehumidifier has changed my life, making space in my home more comfortable.

The initial start-up was initial confusing with Instruction as to setting up the 24 hours starting. I did not realize that the unit time had to flash the time to confirm that you had set the 24 hours. It took me about a dozen tries before I got comfortable before I fully understood. I purchased two units for my basement. Otherwise, I really like this GE 50 Pint Dehumidifier.

I have this in my detached garage in Florida. I had a big problem with mold on my motorcycle leathers and other clothing. I figured it couldn’t be good for my bikes either. I considered an air conditioner but decide to try a dehumidifier instead. This one is working great so far ( a few months) and pumps the water out the garage.

This is a must have item for your dwelling if you live in the south. In the summer the tank fills up 2x per day! But as the weather cools off, it can go weeks without filling the tank. It is easy to use and gets the job done. My apartment went from 80% humidity to 50% easily.
