This coffee maker has a great minimalist design, but unfortunately it is not functioning properly as it is leaking on all sides.

I had been using K-cups for quite some time but wanted to stop using them so much because of the cost. I love the smell and taste of freshly ground coffee and the K cups can't offer that. But I did like the convenience of brewing a single serving size. With this Hamilton Beach Scoop model you just scoop the coffee into a large measuring spoon with a mesh filter bottom and pour water and it brews a perfect cup. No waste, no filters, easy and fresh! The price is much less than some other single serve models and you'll save money on the cost of buying regular ground coffee over cups or pods. Better yet, buy beans and grind yourself, the aroma is awesome!

I was over pod coffee makers as they can be costly and make passable coffee. Let's not forget the environmental impact as well. This was a good solution as I only need to make a single cup to get out the door in the morning and quickly. Dripping in to a thermos is fine, a cup will splatter all over. Also, the size of the grounds is a major factor unless you don't mind some in your coffee. It has served it's purpose, wasn't bad for the price.

Makes a cup of coffee easily with little cleaning up. That's a plus.
I like dark bold coffee and it is hard to get it via this machine. I usually drink Expresso and use this coffee maker occasionally. When I want stronger drip coffee, I fill basket up with coffee and use only 5 oz of water to get darker coffee. Rinse repeat. Coffee is hot.

After quite a bitt of research, I purchased the Hamilton Beach 49981A Brewer. I do not care for the K-cup models because I like stronger coffee and am not fond of water reservoirs. I prefer to use fresh filtered water feach time I brew. I also wanted to have the option to make a larger cup of coffee. The unit is marked for a 10o or 14oz cup and also has the option of a regular or stronger brew. The two stage filters do a great job of keeping the grounds in the basket and not in my cup. Clean up is fast and easy.

Efficient machine, coffee tastes good, although I would have liked the water container to be a bit larger to have a bit more coffee. Also, the water container is black, so sometimes it is hard to peer inside. But so far, so good.

We purchased the Single Scoop to take to our cabin. We decided to try it before bringing it out. So easy to use and makes great coffee! We were really happy with it since so many family members buy me coffee for gifts...yes, I enjoy coffee. This way I can make one cup at a time instead of a pot that might not get all used up.

It does a good job but it does take about 2 minutes to make a cup of coffee. I make the coffee the night before and when I wake up I just push the button and my coffee is ready. I like the stainless steel look. Easy to clean. Doesn’t take up much room since I don’t have much counter space.

This is a great little coffee maker, It also looks very nice setting on my counter. All stainless steel and black. It also makes great coffee. I wasn't quite sure after using a K cup for the last 5 years but I honestly love this better. The coffee is filtered thru 2 filters before it drips into your cup so the taste is smooth and the coffee is clean, no grinds, and to top it all off, it's quick. You'll be glad you made this choice if you buy one. I just love it!

I've cut my coffee intake to about 1 maybe 2 cups a day. This litlle coffee maker is AWESOME. Makes 8 oz. or 14 oz. cup of coffee. You can make regular or Bold cup of coffee. And the best part... you can use regular (or grind your own coffee beans) coffee. No Pods and no coffee filters either. It has its own (removable) coffee filter. Super easy to clean, the coffeei HOT and great flavor. Two settings Regular and Bold flavor. Sturdy well made and. I love this little coffee maker.

Good Small Cup Brewer

This coffee brewer is pretty much what you would expect it to be. It has a nice feature that allows you to have the stand up higher when brewing in a normal coffee cup and flip the stand over when you want to brew in a travel mug. I have three minor complaints about this item, but not major enough to make me return or not use it. First, my Contigo travel mug I always use doesn't fit underneath it. It is an average sized travel mug, so I am not sure what size this is designed to have fit under it. So I typically just brew into a glass Pyrex measuring cup that I use to fill the reservoir up and then it makes for easy pouring into the travel mug. Second, the reservoir in the back doesn't hold enough water to brew a decent sized cup for traveling. I typically have to add more water and brew again to get enough coffee. It brews enough for an average sized mug and that's it. So good for just brewing a cup to sip at home. Third, the coffee honestly isn't that hot when it brews and I often heat it up more a little bit in the microwave to get it where I want it to be. Like I said minor things, I wouldn't return it and ill continue to use it because it functions well and it is compact and nice to be able to brew one cup at a time instead of brewing less in a big bulky coffee pot.

This is the second one of these I have purchased. They are well made, easy to use, and easy to maintain. The only thing I would like that would make it 5 star is that it could be more user serviceable. We have particularly hard water and after 3 years of use it finally gave out. If replacement parts were available, I could have repaired it and gotten several more years of use.

I love this little brewer! It doesn’t have a keurig system in it, but for me that is perfect as I always use personal ground coffee. It’s very easy to use, easy to clean, and I love the stainless steel look. Only negative thing I can think of is the first 3/4 cups I brewed had a faint taste of plastic, but I used the BOLD option once and after that the taste has been gone. So only advice I have is run water through it multiple times, and put on bold to get rid of that taste, maybe put a splash of white vinager in it if it’s really strong.

I love my new coffee maker. It doesn't have all the gadgets of the larger machines....just a simple one cup brewer. And it makes a great cup of coffee. Best Buy offered it at a great price compared to other sellers. FYI....It does not come with the stainless mug!
