After watching their advertisement for this IQ cam I guess I was hoping for it to work as advertised. Not at all, it doesn't even read license plates of cars that are literally in front of me, I decided to buy another IQ but this time I went with the 4K, I thought this would resolve my issues of clarity and quality. WRONGGGGG, I have both IQ cams, 1k on my wife's car and the 4K on my truck, LET ME TELL YOU GUY'S, THEIR IS NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER IN VIDEO QUALITY. I WISH I CAN ADD THE VIDEOS HERE AS PROOF. To make things worse, I've been trying to contact customer service that doesn't exist, thru phone the line is always busy and it hangs up after 5seconds, thru chat it's a bot that doesn't answer any questions and thru email, well I'm still waiting for a response....... I'll we wait one more week before I return this 2 junk cams. I have it to 2 ⭐ because you do get notifications if you subscribe to a $10 or $20 per month.

      Hello Fernando,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, and I genuinely apologize for the experience you've had. We completely understand your frustration, and we deeply regret that the IQ cams have not lived up to your expectations. Your feedback regarding the quality and clarity issues is invaluable, and I assure you, we're committed to continuously improving our products to provide the best possible experience.

Regarding the image quality, please keep in mind that the app connects to the camera via a 4G connection, just like with your phone. Poor reception can sometimes cause the image quality to decrease while being streamed. However, when downloading the video, you have the option to select either Low or High Resolution. To experience the full resolution, please choose High Resolution. If it's a recent video, you can also download it directly to your PC from the SD card, where you should be able to access the file in High Resolution.

We're also truly sorry to hear about the challenges you've encountered with our customer support. This certainly isn't the level of service we strive to provide. Please know we take this seriously, and we will work hard to address this gap. We'd love to make things right for you. Please reach out to us directly at [email protected], and mention that the Reviews Team has referred you for escalation, so we can assist you with a resolution that aligns with your needs. We value your trust and want to ensure you're completely satisfied with your purchase.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to have the opportunity to restore your confidence in our products.

Stay away for the moment Nextbase needs to workout ALL the bugs. Sometimes it records and sometimes it doesn't. When it records the video quality is good. Combined this with the price of the front windshield camera all the current bugs aren't worth the hassle. Hopefully Nextbase will get this together in the future. But for the moment let this bake a bit longer.

Neat addition to the Nextbase iQ Dash cam!

The Nextbase iQ rear window camera is a neat little addition to the main Nextbase iQ 2K camera that I have installed in my vehicle. On the back of your original Nextbase iQ dash cam, there is an additional slot that you can plug in a rear facing camera. This rear facing camera really is plug and play. When you initially plug it in, you will want to have your vehicle running, not just in ACC mode, but running. The rear camera will have to be triggered to do a software update as well on your main camera. You need to make sure that the power cable is securely plugged in (the end that it towards the rear of your vehicle) because if it is not securely attached, the camera will not be recognized by the main camera. This was an issue I had when setting it up. Once I realized that the connection didn't 'click' together, I made sure that it was a strong connection, and the camera was then recognized by the Nextbase iQ app, and began to download the latest software. That stage did frustrate me a little, and I almost gave up the installation process, as the app just cycled through two pages back and forth. However, once I realized that the connection wasn't securely attached, I remedied that, and the software was updated. The camera would then show in the Nextbase iQ app. The original camera shows a front view and a cabin view of the vehicle, this rear view camera is designed to be attached to view out of the rear window. During the process of ordering the Nextbase iQ rear view camera, I changed my vehicle from a 2023 Camaro Convertible to a 2024 Corvette Convertible. The new vehicle has a small rear window (only about 7 inches tall) that can actually go up and down like some truck windows do. This has presented me with an issue when mounting the camera, as I need to be able to have the camera in two positions. In the closed position for the window, the camera is right at the top of the window and has a good view out the back of the vehicle. With the window in the open position (ready for the convertible top to be down), it actually lowers about 5 inches, and leaves only about 2 inches of available space to mount the camera. And in order to do so, I have to mount the camera sideways, and not in the traditional 'hanging down' position. What that means for me is that the image is then saved in a 90 degree rotated position when saved to the camera and then transferred to my phone. It is possible to rotate the video in the phone after the fact, but I have reached out to Nextbase to find out if it is possible to rotate the video image in the app (I wasn't able to find that option looking though the settings) so that the video is recorded in the correct orientation. The video quality is great from this rear view camera, it's nice and compact when mounted, and has the same red ring around it when recording an event close to your vehicle, just like the main camera does. Connecting to the camera in the app via my phone (iPhone 15 Pro) is a little hit or miss, sometimes it will say that the camera is unavailable, please try again, other times, you will be able to connect to it, view the library and download the files. Now, downloading the files, you click 'download' in the Nextbase iQ app, but it doesn't automatically download to your phone. It downloads the video to the SD card, then you have to select the downloaded files and add them to your gallery on your phone, THEN you can view them on your phone. The quality is really nice and you are able to see all the details you need, just like the main camera. So far the operation has been decently intuitive, having had the main Nextbase iQ 2K dash cam for about 9 months now, it was a similar process to adding that original, when adding the new rear camera. There is plenty of cable and it's a thicker gauge than the main camera, so bear that in mind when routing the cable. I chose to route the cable through the passenger side footwell and up behind the front seat to the rear window in the Corvette. Very simple and the included 'poking' tool made it easy to conceal the cable. The additional cable I was able to hide under the carpet behind the front seat. Overall, this is a great little camera, a nice addition to the Nextbase iQ dash cam, my situation is a little unique with having such a small rear window on my vehicle (see photos) and hence me reaching out to Nextbase to see if there is a way to rotate the video within the app by 90 degrees, so that it shows in the orientation that I would like to see, rather than having to rotate the image after the fact in my phone. Nice quality camera, great functionality and added security for my vehicle.

Buggy setup, but excellent quality and features

Last year I got the opportunity to review the Nextbase iQ 4K dash cam, and about 9 months later I've been given the chance to review the rear camera addition for this connected dash camera system. The total cost of this setup is substantial, almost 6 times the cost of the midrange non-connected non-GPS front and rear camera kits on the market. Plus, with the Nextbase iQ you only get the full value of the features if you maintain their subscription. #Physical setup# The camera comes with plenty of cable for routing the wiring to your rear window. Fortunately, the vehicle I'm installing in (a Nissan Rogue) was exceptionally easy to run cable along the door seals and headliner and I was able to bundle the excess cable up into the rear cargo side well area. I left additional slack to allow the camera to tilt with the rear window when the tailgate is open, as there weren't any convenient spots to attach it due to Nissan's headliner design. No fault of Nextbase there, and the additional cable was definitely welcome. #Software setup# Here's where the install went a bit off the rails for me. When I connected the camera to my iQ 4K front dash cam and opened the app, I kind of expected it to "just work." Unfortunately this wasn't the case. First, the app tells you to add the rear camera while the front camera is unplugged. So I disconnected the rear camera, disconnected the power cable from the front camera, then plugged them back in. In the app, it just sits at the stage waiting for me to connect them up, and then goes back to the first step. Eventually, I unplugged the rear camera, unplugged the power from the front cam, then plugged in the power and reconnected the rear camera, and immediately the app went to the next step: updating the firmware on the rear camera. Note that this is the exact opposite of what the app is telling you to do. Updating the firmware was very buggy as well. I don't think the percentage on the little chart they show is based on reality - it would get to 100% in a few seconds and say that it failed in the app, and that I needed to go to an area with better 4G (T mobile, I think) reception. After a few failures, I noticed the gauge on the front camera itself was still showing (and rising) despite the phone app saying it had failed. Eventually the camera reached 100% and restarted, and the app showed that it was successful on a refresh. After this, the camera worked normally. This setup would require some handholding for the average user. I was about to give up and contact support when I stumbled on the right sequence to get it to work mostly by chance. #What I like# The quality is outstanding for the iQ rear camera. Typically the rear cameras for most systems seem to use much lower quality sensors than their front cameras, but in this case the rear camera seems to be great in both low light and in traffic. My state doesn't use front plates, but you can easily make out drivers in the cars behind you depending on glare. The video feed is well integrated into the Nextbase iQ app, and it's easy to transfer the videos to your phone (and easy to select which feed you want out of the 3 available: front facing, cabin view, rear facing). I also like that the iQ Rear camera features the same style LED ring as the front camera, so when it detects something through the "SmartSense" parking capability, it glows red along with the front camera. I feel this draws attention to the system and may save some headache if someone is approaching the vehicle with ill intent. #What I don't like# While I don't mind the idea of the subscription fee even with the current 'live' feature set, I think it's wrong for Nextbase to continue to include Roadwatch AI in their feature set as "coming soon" when the camera system has been out for about 9 months without this feature ever being available. Also, the setup experience was pretty bad - I managed to figure it out with sheer perseverence and doing the opposite of what the app was telling me. I'm a platform engineer working in cloud infrastructure. I wouldn't expect most people to figure it out on their own. #Conclusion# If you want the absolute best dash camera, which doubles as a security system for all intents and purposes, the Nextbase iQ system is it. Adding the rear camera to my existing front camera wasn't as easy as it should be, but once configured, the rear camera adds a fantastic quality video feed to the experience as well as additional security deterrence thanks to the LED lighting during alerts.

Let me tell you, this little camera has been a lifesaver. I was getting so stressed out about parking lot dings and tailgaters. It felt like every time I turned around, something bad was happening to my car. But since I got the Nextbase iQ Rear Window Camera, I’ve felt so much more relaxed. The video quality is incredible, even in low light. I can clearly see everything that’s going on behind me. Plus, the parking mode is a total game-changer. I’ve had a couple of close calls where someone bumped into my car, and thanks to the camera, I have all the evidence I need. This little gadget has completely changed the way I feel about parking. I used to dread backing out, always worried about hitting something or someone. Now, I can relax knowing that the camera has my back. The video quality is fantastic, and the wide viewing angle captures everything that’s happening behind me. Installation was a bit of a challenge for someone as technically inept as me, but I managed to get it done. The instructions could have been a little clearer, but I figured it out eventually. Overall, I’m really impressed with this camera and would recommend it to anyone who wants to protect their car.

The Nextbase iQ Rear Camera is essential in completing the IQ setup, offering a compact design and excellent rear view that seamlessly integrates with the dashboard and cabin views. Driving a Subaru Ascent, I was initially concerned about the connection cable’s length. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find about 5 feet of extra cable after reaching the back of my car. I managed to tuck the excess cable into a panel near the lift gate, with only a few areas across the entire vehicle where the cable is slightly visible. The rear camera connects directly to the dashboard iQ, simplifying the power process and ensuring synchronization between devices. I recommend setting up the rear camera before running the installation cables. I made the mistake of installing the cables first, only to discover difficulties with the app recognizing the rear camera. This issue took some time and troubleshooting to solve, but was resolved by downloading the latest firmware onto my SD card and manually installing it on the iQ camera. My main issue is the app, which still needs development in some areas, and doesn’t always work as expected. I frequently struggle with the 4G connection when away from my car, which is frustrating, especially when receiving notifications about activity around the vehicle. Overall, the camera is a great addition and completes my setup. The video quality is impressive, and now that everything is installed, it works as intended.

No Doubt - Best Vehicle Cam on the Market

The Nextbase IQ Rear Cam is the perfect companion for all-around safe security for watching your vehicle 24/7. When connected to the Nexbase IQ front-facing Smart Cam, it provides comprehensive security coverage with surround visibility of the front view, rear view, and view of the interior cabin. Impact and vandalism can easily activate the camera while in Park and while the vehicle is even unoccupied. The Cam syncs with an app on your phone and delivers video in 1440p HD, as a clear and excellent image. The 450-degree angle covered by the triple images from the combination of both cameras is ready 24/7 for whatever your vehicle may unfortunately encounter. The front camera has a 60 GB smart disk storage card that can be erased and reformatted. It can store video and function as a Guardian if another family member is driving your vehicle and as a second witness to accidents, threats to the vehicle, or bodily harm. Installation is designed to be straightforward and hassle-free. Everything needed for a thorough installation is included in the retail packaging. The rear camera operates off of the main forward-facing Smart IQ Cam, which is also the source of power by either being connected to the fuse box or OBD (onboard diagnostics). I have always had mine connected to the OBD with no problem. Packaged with the Rear IQ Cam is a 24.6-foot-long cord that connects to the forward-facing IQ Smart Cam. No Smart Disk is required for the rear camera as it saves video from all three views together on the Smart Disk that remains installed in the front IQ Smart Cam. There is a fitting tool to help tuck the cable behind the vehicle’s headliner, cable clips and ties if needed, an adhesive for sticking the Rear IQ Cam on the rear windshield window and even a spare. A cleaning pack also ensures a clean, tight connection with the crash-tested adhesive. Everything works great and installs easily, but I did have significant trouble with the app recognizing the Rear IQ Camera and applying the needed firmware. Without the app recognizing the installation step of the Rear IQ Cam, the rear camera remained unrecognized, and even though I knew that the rear cam was getting power because it was hot to the touch, it remained offline. I repeated the connection steps countless times over several hours and days, and only because of this frustrating issue did I consider giving this product four (4) stars. However, I reached out to the company directly and encountered exceptional, friendly, and excellent customer service help from an employee of the company. With his staff, he tweaked the app, hopefully making it better for all in the future, and without my verbal assistance, he completed the rear camera installation from afar through email communication of both directional updates. The process was stressless for me, and the Cam has continued to work great every time I drive the vehicle or open the Nextbase app. Because of this excellent and cordial customer service, the quality of the product, the continued excellence of the video, and the responsiveness of both CAMS, I have to give this product five (5) stars. It is an excellent product that I am happy to own, and I feel more comfortable and assured of my own safety and well-being when on the road, especially for long distances. I have had other dash cams, but nothing of this comprehensive responsiveness and security coverage, and I believe this is the best vehicle CAM system on the market. If you need peace of mind with your vehicle or family members’ driving and safety, this is a smart choice and a great investment. I would not hesitate to pick the cameras up and install them in your vehicle.

If you have a NextBase iQ camera, 1k, 2k, or 4k, then this is the camera you need to complete your 360 degrees of recording ability. Putting aside the lack of full promised features of the app and camera since it was launched over 6 months ago, this is a good addition to have. This camera offers 2k recording (1440P), allowing for viewing of license plates in ideal conditions. Night and dimly lit conditions, I was not able to make out plates very well, but I also have tinted windows so that may have affected it. All the good features are locked behind the paywall so unless you are prepared to spend $9.99 or $19.99 a month then I would not recommend this to you. The 4G connectivity is nice and handy, but it does come at a cost. Installing the camera is easy, the cable is long and it is pretty thick. I would have preferred a thinner cable, but I was able to make it work. The adhesive that comes with it is strong and keeps the camera in place. You are also given a spare one just in case. Hopefully NextBase will release all of the promised features, but at this point it still may be a way off. They recently released the Guardian mode, which alerts you to speed and location, but the Roadwatch AI is still yet to come. Setting up the rear camera in the app was not an easy experience either, I tried following the directions and it kept failing, but then it eventually worked. Also, it would have been nice if they offered you a free month of service with the purchase of this camera to your already pricey front camera. I do like the looks of the cameras, and they work great, but the subscription model is not for me.

When I first got my Nextbase Front dash camera the rear camera was still unlaunched and “coming soon.” Knowing how much I really like the front camera, with its 2K resolution, interior facing camera, and very protective alerts, it was perfect sense to pick up the rear camera as soon as it was available. I generally wouldn’t talk about any issues that a manufacturer had with their product because I don’t want to be disparaging. It’s actually quite the opposite. I want to commend them for how quickly they were able to address a firmware update with my main camera that kept the installation process going in a loop. I have never experienced such a rapid turnaround with any piece of technology! I got an email saying they’d already looked at the logs and the engineer was ready to send a patch out over the air. This is one of the big advantages to having a connected camera, and I got to see it in action! Kudos to the entire team at Nextbase for being so customer focused. That includes having a trim prying tool in the box for your adventures in cable running to the back window. The camera itself has a wide field of view and good resolution. It integrates into all of the other Nextbase sensors seamlessly and I feel more protected knowing my car has a near 360 of view. Yes, it’s a little quirky - as we speak it’s sending me push notifications that there’s motion near my car while it’s still on. I wish it would voltage or vehicle state sense and know it’s time to cut that out, but that’s about the only suggestion I could make. If you have the front camera, buy it. If you need a front camera, make sure you pick up this one too!

The Nextbase iQ rear camera is a nice addition to complete your iQ dashcam system. In fact, I think it’s the only option if you want to add a dedicated rear camera to an iQ dashcam, so luckily it’s built just as well as the front facing units. Physical installation is pretty breezy depending on your car and comfort level. All you essentially need to do is run the USB-C extension wire from the front camera to where you want to mount the rear camera and stick it on. How you hide the wire is another story, but it comes with the same installation kit as the front cameras, which include a trim tool, zip ties, a cable manager, and alcohol wipes. This is an inside mount camera so you shouldn’t have to drill any holes to the outside and it’s nice to not have to splice any wires. I mounted mine centered to the lower part of my rear windshield, but had to flip it around when I realized the camera is designed to mount only one way up. This leaves a wire coming down the top of the camera in my install, which isn’t as clean as I like it but it’s a small detail that I barely ever look at anyway. However, while the physical install is fairly easy the software setup was a bit maddening. I think I went through the install process 6 times trying to get the app to recognize the rear camera. I thought I might’ve damaged the wire during the install and went through unplugging both the front camera and rear camera over and over until it suddenly recognized it and automatically began updating the firmware. I had to do this twice because it failed the first time for some reason, but the 2nd time went through quickly and there have been no connection issues with the rear camera since. Thankfully that’s the only fuss the rear camera has given me, because the picture quality is great both day or night. The overall iQ system still has some things to fine tune, but the rear camera works well after it’s setup and is a solid addition to complete your iQ system. PROS - Good picture quality - Well built camera and cable - Compact - Easy physical install to iQ dashcam - Mount has ball joint to slightly pivot - Mount adhesive is strong and comes with an extra pad - Comprehensive install tool kit CONS - App had difficulty recognizing camera on initial setup - Can only mount camera one side up - iQ system still needs work - Need subscription to use iQ features

The additional coverage of the Nextbase iQ Rear camera is very useful. Getting every possible angle of something that may happen during your drive, or while your car is parked is only going to help any situation you may come across. - Installation The installation of the camera was very easy, requiring only a single cable to be ran from the camera that plugs into the primary Nextbase dash cam. The rear cam includes a tool for tucking the cable, and adhesive to mount it to the window. I was able to easily get the camera mounted and the cable neatly tucked along the length of my car within a few minutes. The entire process is very easy. - Software Anyone that already has an iQ camera will be familiar with how the rear camera works already. Basically, you'll have the front view of your primary iQ camera, as well as the interior view. When adding the rear camera, you'll have a third view. You're able to tap on any view and see them live or view recorded clips. I did have a little trouble when I was attempting to add the camera within the app, but I think this may have been a fault of my own. I only wanted to mention it, since the Nextbase customer support was excellent in helping me make sure the camera was visible within the app. Motion alerts and activity being automatically recorded all around my car makes me much more confident that if something were to happen while driving or parked, I would have footage of the incident. I have noticed that there seems to be a bit of a delay when viewing the rear camera. For instance, when opening app, after the primary camera is visible, the rear camera will sometimes take an additional few seconds before it's available. - Picture quality The picture quality of the camera is very good. I have the iQ 2k primary dash camera, and I believe the rear camera is basically the same as the primary camera I have. Meaning they both record at 1440p resolution. If you have an iQ camera, this is an easy to install upgrade that extends the capability of an already great system. Pros: Easy installation, clean install (the single cable is easily tucked into interior panels), good software, excellent customer support, good picture quality, easy to use app Cons: There is a bit of a delay when opening the live view, or when attempting to view clips. I'll often see the primary camera/interior camera view, then after a few moments, the rear cam will be visible.

Thinking about adding the Nextbase iQ Rear Camera to your dash cam setup? Here’s my experience with it. ***Unboxing and Packaging:*** The Nextbase iQ Rear Camera comes neatly organized with all the necessary tools for installation, including a trim tool, zip ties, and cable management accessories. The long cable provides enough length for larger vehicles, and the packaging is straightforward and functional. ***Setup Experience:*** Physically installing the camera is simple, requiring no drilling or wire splicing. However, the software setup can be frustrating. The app struggles to recognize the camera, and multiple attempts may be needed to sync it. Once connected, firmware updates might fail initially but eventually succeed after retrying. ***Quality and Features:*** The camera is compact and well-built, offering excellent video quality during both day and night, though tinted windows might affect nighttime clarity. The 2K resolution allows for clear footage, and the ball joint on the mount provides slight pivoting for better angles. The camera only mounts in one orientation, which can affect the neatness of the installation. ***Performance and Usability:*** The rear camera integrates well with the Nextbase iQ system, delivering consistently good video quality. However, connecting to the camera through the app can be inconsistent, and downloading videos to your phone involves extra steps. Many advanced features require a subscription, which could be a downside if you’re not interested in paying monthly fees. ***Convenience vs. Functionality:*** The rear camera enhances the overall Nextbase iQ system, providing comprehensive coverage. However, the thick cable can be cumbersome, and the need for a subscription to access all features might reduce its convenience. Despite these issues, the camera offers added security and functionality once set up. ***Conclusion:*** The Nextbase iQ Rear Camera is a valuable addition for those seeking 360-degree coverage and high-quality recording. While the setup process can be frustrating and the subscription model might not appeal to everyone, the camera performs well and integrates seamlessly with the system. If you’re willing to work through the setup and pay for the subscription, it’s worth the investment.

Adds a rear-facing, rear-mounted camera to the iQ’s two built-in cameras. Now your iQ will record all three views so you always know what’s in front, inside and behind your vehicle. Plus, it adds a rear-facing motion sensor for all-around parking awareness. Easy to install and fully integrated to enhance your dash cam’s capabilities and your peace-of-mind whether driving or parked. Highlights: * Records in 1440p (same as the iQ 2K’s front camera) * Wide 140 degree field of view. * Has a built-in motion sensor. * Has subtle status lights that match those on the main dash cam. * Easy single-cable installation. * Flexible mounting with a ball-joint. * Long enough cable (7.5m/24.5’) for even the largest vehicle. * Includes extra mounting adhesive disc if needed. * Includes trim tool and wire mounting clips for a clean installation. Room for Improvement: * The right-angle USB-C plug on the end could make it more challenging to thread through tight spaces. * Cable cannot be detached from the rear camera. Setup: Installation of the Rear Window Camera (RWC) is relatively easy to wire up. As is typical of additional cameras like this, the most time-consuming part of the installation is in cleanly hiding the wire that connects the camera at the rear of the vehicle to the main dash cam at the front of the vehicle. In my case, it took me less than 5 minutes to wire up the camera and another hour to neatly thread and hide the single USB-C cable that connects the dash cam to the RWC. The single USB-C cable provides data and power between the dash cam and the RWC. Threading that single cable made it easier than if there were several cables. I positioned the RWC loosely on my rear window in the general area but didn’t stick it to the glass yet. I then started working the wire from the back to the front and tucking it behind headliners and other panels. Once the cable made its way up to the front, I plugged it in to the dash cam and started the setup in the iQ app to add the RWC and use the app’s live video feed to assist in framing the video before doing the final attachment of the RWC to the glass. Setup with the app was fast and easy. After plugging in the cable and telling the app to add the RWC, the iQ quickly recognized the RWC and showed me a live video feed so I could frame up the video and position the RWC while looking at my phone’s app. There is a lot of flexibility in the ball joint on the RWC’s mount so it wasn’t necessary to perfectly position it - just get it close and then move the camera around on its mount until the framing is perfect. That ball joint is firm enough to hold the camera in position through the roughest of driving. In my Polestar 2, there was quite a bit of excess cable so I just tucked it in behind a panel in the trunk. Most likely there is more than enough length for even the largest vehicle. Now that the RWC is plugged in and the cable is hidden and looking clean, I can start checking out the app’s new third camera feed and settings. Usage: The iQ dash cam has 2 built-in cameras; a front-facing and an interior-facing. There are also motion sensors in the main dash cam to detect things near your vehicle or inside it. The RWC not only adds a third camera but also adds another rear-facing motion sensor toward the back of the vehicle. Once you connect the RWC, you can adjust the dash cam’s settings and motion sensitivity to accommodate this additional camera. The two main settings to update once you get the RWC connected are the Exposure and Proximity settings. I generally don’t have the Proximity set to very far away from the car so I don’t get a lot of false alarm push notifications when parked. You can now set the rear-facing proximity with the RWC installed, and adjust the exposure of the video for that camera if needed. On the main screen, all three video thumbnails now show images whereas only two had content before the RWC was installed. When viewing “live” video from the iQ, you can also now toggle between all three video angles, and when viewing Events, Library or Downloaded video, all three cameras are now available. The only thing to consider when you have the third camera (the RWC) installed is that your storage card will now be saving video from three rather than two cameras, so it might be worth considering a card storage upgrade to keep more recordings from all three cameras. Overall: Easy to install and adds a third camera view and additional motion sensor to the iQ dash cam. No complaints and everything has been working great since installation. The parking security feature now has views out the rear as well as motion sensing back there.

When I decided to buy my iQ 4K dash cam I had to figure, like everyone else buying, whether or not I needed the rear cam. The iQ has a cabin cam and I wondered if that would be good enough. My feeling was that if I bought the iQ without the rear cam I would come to regret it, and I didn’t want to install the system twice so to speak. So I did get the rear cam and I am glad I did. The cabin cam is really only useful for inside the car and right outside the front side windows which makes sense. Anyway, when searching the web for reviews, a lot of users complained that the rear cam wouldn’t sync and this did make me apprehensive. I then found a newer review saying that a recent update addressed the sync issue, so I figured it was worth a shot. I knew I could return the cam if I found it unsatisfactory. First I want to say if the rear camera doesn’t sync during Live View, that doesn’t affect the other two cameras. You can still see those views live. Second, even if the rear cam doesn’t sync for Live View, it is still recording and saving the footage from the rear cam. All of the cameras are working and recording to the SD card whether Live View is working or partially working or not working at all. Also, the sync issue seems to occur only with Live View. While in Parking/Security mode, or while driving, the rear camera always syncs. I’ve never had an issue with this here and the Library in the app always has all three views. That said, every so often you’ll pull up a live feed and the rear camera will need extra time to sync. Usually it will then sync but sometimes it doesn’t. You can close and reopen the feed to fix it. Sometimes you will get a button that will let you try to re-sync the rear camera but the button isn’t always there for some reason. The image quality is excellent, the same as the other two cams. Image quality is consistent visually between the three. The 4K front cam has the best resolution of course but it’s not apparent when watching the full quality files on my iPad Pro. They all look the same and they all look really good. My only other comments are concerning the size and the length of the cable. The rear cam is fortunately not as big as the front cam but it is still relatively big. It is very visible from the outside through my untinted rear window, and it seems to have had an effect on tailgaiters and people pulling up too close at read lights. I drive a tiny car so this is something that I really, really like. The cable, which plugs into the iQ alongside the power cable, is *super* long. It is hard to image a vehicle other than a limo that would need a cable longer than this. All of that long cable has to go somewhere so it was big overkill for my short car. But I think this is long enough for something like an Escalade, no problem. So, overall I’m happy. While the base camera is already pretty expensive I think the extra amount I paid for the rear cam is worth it. I think it would be nice to have the option of buying everything bundled in one box to save a little money. But I am glad anyway I didn’t wait until later and that I bought the whole system at once.

Let’s just say the set up was difficult. The first camera failed miserably and would not take an update. I had to go back-and-forth with the company, not Best Buy, but Nextbase, for about 3 1/2 weeks going back-and-forth troubleshooting the camera. Finally they decided to have me send back the camera to them and they would replace it with a new one. I received a new one yesterday and plugged it in and it failed three times to update as well but then finally it did take and everything seems to be working correctly. As for the experience with the camera I can’t really give it so many stars yet because I have not really got to use it I purchased a camera over a month ago and I haven’t got to use it yet because of all the back-and-forth with the company. But I have the new camera now and it is on and we’ll see what happens in a few weeks. I do not like the fact that you need to spend $20 a month Just to share your login with your household. Because it is such an expensive camera you would think some of the features would become free. But that’s not how this world is nowadays. I also do not like the fact that you need to use adhesive stickers to mount the camera I wish it was a suction cup. I do love how it’s wired to the vehicle, that does make it super simple.

I invested in this dashcam. Bought the front and rear. It was pricey but their ads looked promising. Turned out it was a big dissapointment!!! The rear cams doesnt come back once you turn off the vehicle. Always had to restart the device if i want it to function. And parking mode only senses when somebody is already inside the vehicle. Not as advertised. Completely dissatisfied expense! Hope they fix it as promised but i wont bet on it.
