    Great Idea. HORRIBLE execution!

First, take note that there is no way to leave a review about this product on NordicTrack's website, yet there's a ton of glowing reviews about how great the CST is. Take that for what it's worth. This thing is so bad, it drove us to pay the $700+ in wasted shipping costs and restocking fees it takes to have it sent back. The hardware itself is fine, but like another reviewer said, we bought this thing because of the guided workouts, the automated resistance settings and instructors that are heavily sold as the primary value of this thing. After using it for a month and a dozen or so workouts, I got ONE workout to run without excessive buffering, timeouts or just flat out quitting in the middle of the workout. We bought our own tablet because it seemed to be clearly the issue of the tablet included. That greatly helped the initial 10 minute+ buffering and took it down to one minute (the new tablet has a 70Mb connection to our wifi, included one would get 3-4 at best). Now it just buffers mid-workout, never to load again. And you can only start workouts from the beginning. There's no resume feature. There's no way to fast forward a workout. For the many that I'm sure are trying to replace the guided gym experience during COVID lock downs, this falls woefully short of doing so. The unfortunate thing is, if it weren't for the constant buffering or general unreliability of iFit (the app that runs on the tablet), this thing would be awesome and exactly what we wanted. It's clear the software was such an afterthought. The hardware is otherwise solid. When I opened a ticket with NordicTrack about the software issue, they told me they couldn't help me since it was an iFit problem....it's the same company and ships as the same piece of equipment. What?! The app hasn't been updated since 2018 and there is zero correlation with the CST and any other NordicTrack product even though they all use iFit. The CST is clearly an afterthought for NordicTrack and a waste of floor space. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from the same expensive mistake we did and choose something else.

Hello there. We’re sorry to hear you feel your purchase was a mistake. We’d like to improve upon your experience with us. Let’s take a closer look at a few of your points.

We can verify with iFIT that their app is indeed updated monthly and we keep a steady communication with them to ensure our equipment is compatible and in sync with their app. We don’t know where you are getting the 2018 date for that, but it is not accurate.

Older tablets we have used had less robust WiFi capabilities but anything new should have 5 ghz capability for higher speeds and reliable connection. Since this model was from 2016, it seems fair that it’s got a more outdated tablet. For an updated tablet, consider a newer model.

We appreciate your dedication in writing this detailed review. Let’s keep communicating. We’d like to support you in your journey toward those fitness goals of yours. Let us know how we can help by emailing us at [email protected] with the case #1-R101337.

      Thanks -NordicTrack

Included Tablet and Fusion CST is a Dealbreaker

I really wanted to like this product. It's a great idea but the table and the Fusion CST app make it unusable. I bought it because of IFit and the classes with automated resistance, I did not buy this to manually adjust myself and look at a poster on a wall to do workouts and adjust resistance based on experimentation. The 1 year included IFit membership (that goes for over $400 supposedly) is not usuable since the Bluetooth and videos on tablet have a very difficult time syncing and videos buffering. This makes workouts unusable. You cannot fast forward or rewind so if a video loses connectivity you have to start all over, with all progress unsaved. I have to wait 15 minutes for a video to load and then it will buffer for 5 minutes, just to play 1 more minute of video. All the while the timing for the machine resistance is ongoing so it comes out of sync with the instructor and class. This is a very common issue from back in 2018 and it hasn't been fixed since. I won't spend $2500 with warranty and the next couple years frustrated with this equipment when Nordictrack hasn't even updated their app in a year, which also says is not optimized for the tablet they give you. No other Android tablet cannot be used. It must be the Portal 10i, which is total garbage. I will look into other options at this point.

We love this machine EXCEPT the tablet that comes with it is CRAP! We did have to go back and purchase a Samsung Tab A and now it works perfectly. This has been a major complaint in 2020, so I would check that is does not come with a Portal 10 tab or just plan on purchasing the Tab A at the same time. I HIGHLY suggest paying for BestBuy delivery and installation, this is heavy and it took 3 of them to bring it inside and assemble it.

Excellent machine for what I need. My wife and I are both trying to condition a little better and this machine is exactly what we wanted. If you’re looking to bulk up and do heavy weight training, this probably won’t suit your needs. This is all resistance high interval training that works on cardio and lean muscle mass. I’ve had no issues with the app or included tablet that other users have had. Footprint is small so it fits really well in our basement workout area. Great piece of equipment from NordicTrack!

DO NOT BUY! This product has a defect an Nordic Track does not have a fix yet. It goes into a buffering loop every 5-20 seconds making the video classes unusable. After hours waiting the 2nd Nordic Track tech I spoke to was honest (eventually) and admired they are not even sure if the problem is the proprietary CST app, the proprietary tablet software or the tablet hardware or a mix of them. He also admitted this is has been ongoing for at least 45 days...the worst part is this could be a great product the machine itself is well built but selling it like it is borders on a reckless disregard for the truth ...

This could be an outstanding machine. However, the proprietary tablet that is shipped with the machine simply does not work. The tablet is required for any of the training videos, which also control the resistance of the machine. NordicTrack says that they are working on a fix, but I will believe it when I see it. Again, if you can confirm that the tablet and endless buffering videos have been fixed, then go for it. It will be a great experience. Otherwise, STAY AWAY.

This works well as just a strength trainer for the average person. It's not for the heavyweight body builder. I like that you can also work in cardio and strength training in a workout. Having 1 year free with ifit is a plus. The possibilities are endless with this machine. Love it!

We are extremely impressed with the NT Fusion CST. We are always pressed for time when it comes to exercising, and we feel like this machine allows us to squeeze in quick workouts. It's easy to set-up, and use regularly. Simply press the power button, dial in your resistance, and go! Quality is impressive, and the machine operates smoothly. There are a few exercises where I could use more resistance (like chest and curls), however if you focus on form you can get just as good of a workout. We do not regret this buying decision, and openly recommend it to everyone.

This machine is amazing. iFit is a great platform and it can be as challenging as you want or as light as you want. The metrics are awesome and it doesn’t take up much space. You will need someone to help you put it together unless you get super creative. The base is quite heavy.

Nice Machine, Horrible Software and Tablet

The tablet is like a $30 non branded Android 5 tablet. It is complete junk. Now, I have a TV in my workout room and have a Chromecast, which should allow the tablet to be mirrored. That works pretty poorly honestly. It may be my wifi, but having only one screen for the machine makes doing workouts difficult in my opinion. If you are trying to mimic what the trainers are doing, half the time you are facing away from the machine and half the time you are facing the machine. They included a stand for the tablet, but that is marginal at best. Plus, the tablet is pretty small once you start getting any distance from it. Connection between the machine and the tablet leaves a lot to be desired as there are constant issues with it not working. The software does not get updated very much, and the tablet probably never will. No matter what security risks that creates. iFit, does not work great, and the software leaves TONS to be desired.

The machine is nice but the Tablet is absolute CRAP. I would never, ever, ever have spent this much money on something that essentially does.not.work. I have been a trainer for years and thought this would be a nice add to my home gym/office with peloton and weights but the fact you can't even use the app on your own ipad, nor phone and they instead force you to use their own tablet which is always processing for some reason and buffers videos throughout entire workout...I am livid.

We are sorry you have had a less than exemplary experience with the tablet on this fusion treadmill. Coming from an experienced trainer, we know your opinion is knowledgeable.

The tablet is meant to connect easily with iFIT features and so you can take advantage of the expansive library of workouts. It does require a stable WiFi connection. Please ensure that the buffering and delay is not due to any interference with this connection.

This is a new product and has been very good so far, you do need the monthly subscription to work the the machine. It is more for cardio does not compare to a cable machine you can still the same type of workouts but it does not give you the same weight. It is a magnetic resistance so a different type of workout. the machine is large and takes up alot of room and weights alot two person set up

If you don't like going to the gym this is a great workout machine for home. It is well made good quality, very stable and covers a lot of different muscle group workout. And it doesn't take up too much space. The only challenge is the setup, parts are really heavy and you need to align the footing right and the spacing to the wall for the arms before permanently installing all the parts. If you don't measure it right you will end up redoing everything and believe me the bottom parts are really heavy. Save yourself a headache measure the area Well where you will have the equipment stationed And lined up the footing or the base of the equipment before tightening all the bolts. Other than that once it's setup right you will have a full enjoyment and satisfaction in your daily workout.

    Fusion CST Review

This machine only provides resistance on the positive movements. There is no resistance on the negative part of the movements. If you are used to heavier weights and normal gym workouts, this is not the machine for you. If you are looking for cardio and some light toning, it’s more suited for that. The Fusion workouts on iFit are not categorized and are not searchable. If you want an arm workout, or leg workout, or any other body part focused type of workout, you can’t search for it. Overall, I’m not happy with the product. I wouldn’t purchase this machine if I had it to do again. And returning it would cost too much.

      FusionCST

We apologize for any misunderstanding that has occurred with how this product functions and navigating the iFIT workouts. We’d like to take this opportunity to provide clarity and support around these issues.

      Resistance and machine use:
The Fusion CST is a versatile strength training machine that offers an immersive and personalized workout experience via iFIT. Resistance can be customized and is felt both when pulling and releasing any of the six hand holds. If you are not feeling the resistance when releasing the hand hold, this could be due to two reasons: 1. Releasing the hold two quickly or 2. The resistance isn’t strong enough. These issues are resolved with proper form and appropriate resistance for your fitness level.

      FusionCST Workouts on iFIT:
The included tablet has a preloaded iFIT app that is specific to the FusionCST. This app simply needs to be opened and logged into to search machine-specific workouts. The instructions to do this are found in the user manual.

Know that our expert team is here to help you get the most out of your workout experience. For additional support, contact us directly with case number 1-R100877 at [email protected]. We’ll make sure you find the right workouts and have a full understanding of operating your new Fusion CST.

      Thanks! -NordicTrack

Purchasing at best buy was super easy. Tried originally purchasing from nordicktrac and it was a nightmare. The machine itself is getting used daily and we love it. There are buffering issues but we knew that when we bought it and we worked with ifit to fix the issue and after about 3 weeks the buffering issue is mostly resolved and rarely an issue. We are in our 50's and we were going to the gym 5 days a week before COVID-19, doing both classes and personal training. We bought the nordicktrac treadmill a year ago and now the fusion and the ifit programs are keeping us on track and engaged in our workouts. Not missing the gym at all.

We love it. We were concerned about the buffering issues but haven't had a problem yet. It's been about a month and haven't experienced it yet. Syncing the HR monitor to the machine took a minute but it works good after that. The guided workouts are great for someone that needs it. I am one of those people.

The tablet that comes with the equipment is meant to sync with the machine so that you use the recorded workouts. The IFit app is horrible, the streaming freezes or disconnects 95% of the time. I spoke with IFit and they sent me a new tablet to see if this fixes the issue. It did not, same issues with workouts freezing or disconnecting. Spoke to a customer representative and he mentioned that this has been an issue for them. That they have had a team working on the software to make it run better. Could not give me an estimation on if and when they would have the issue solved. Have had the machine for a month and have only been able to complete two workouts. This so far has been a 350lb paper weight that does not function like their ads. Plan to return item and look into a Tonal.

I have had this machine for a few months and really like it. It keeps me motivated to work out and the classes are well done. It is a large machine and was very very heavy to move. Would likely opt for delivery and set up if I had to do it again. I have not run into any issues like some describe but I haven’t had it that long. The classes are good and after a few months I have only gone through about 5% of them.
