I purchased the Onkyo TX-NR6100 to replace an older analog Onkyo home theater I had purchased several years ago. I researched online and found that this model checked most of the boxes for me (at least 100W/channel, WIFI connectivity, multiple inputs, 2nd zone, etc.). Once I solved a connectivity issue with my TV (more on that below), the setup was fairly easy to navigate through. I was disappointed that it does not connect to SiriusXM directly but found that linking it to my iPhone allowed me to play from a variety of sources over WIFI. The iPhone app is easy to use and very convenient when using the 2nd zone (in another room) and allows you to select different sources, control the volume, etc. Since it operates over WIFI, I assume you can place the receiver behind a cabinet door and control it with your phone.
Biggest issue was initial connectivity to my Vizio TV. I purchased this product initially elsewhere but returned it when I could not get the setup screen to display on my TV. I returned it, thinking the unit was defective, and bought this one from Best Buy. I had the same problem and was going to return it as well but after waiting approximately 30 minutes on the phone with Onkyo Tech Support, I reached a Technician who worked with me and we eventually figured out that the HDMI input had to be set to version 1.4 in order to work with the receiver. Once I did that, setup was fairly straightforward.
Overall, very pleased with my purchase. The receiver does not come with a manual - just a setup guide - so you will have to locate the manual online to do anything but the basic setup.

Bought this receiver for my daughter's home. The home has a small living room and this receiver is paired with a set of Klipsch Atmos top firing speakers. As far as loudness it is plenty for this space and sounds very good. I had purchased the speakers before purchasing this receiver. It did not supprort the speaker setup that was needed, it is 7.2.1, and the needed setup was 5.4.1. I wired the the L and R Atmos speakers in series making the load 8-9 ohms, the rest of the speakers are a 4-5 ohm load. The receiver handled this without issue as it is rated 4 to 16 ohm load. Speaker setup was very easy with the included mic.
I am not an audiophile. I've heard systems that costs thousands of dollars this is not that, the speaker and receiver combo was bought because of its price and features.
The receiver is also connected to two existing Polk outdoor speakers and the sound is good.
So far the receiver has been used to playback movies, games, and some bluetooth audio and has not had any issues. Again the volume level is fine for this area and it is more than they will need until the are old like me.

Wow, I have had this receiver now for 90 days and I love it.
I started with the TX-NR5100 but it didn't have a few items this one does so I traded up.
First off, I use this receiver in a home theater setting.
It is the main audio source for my TV, DVD, Streaming,
It is on all day everyday so it is being used a lot.
Runs a little cooler than other systems I have owned and fits nicely in a cabinet.
( input selections on the remote, BD/DVD, GAME, CABLE, CD, DVD too name a few.
All the different sound modes allows you to hone in on what YOU want to hear, I pretty much use Dolby surround 5.1, it is 7.1 capable.
With 3 different zones to can have you music anywhere in the house or outside. Handy if you have a pool or something.
I'm using a Bose Powered Acoustimass for speakers, however I would like to swap my center for a Klipsch R-52C center speaker.
I paid just under $500 at $479 so I am pleased.

I needed to upgrade my old receiver and the tech rep. told me this would be a great fit for my home theater set up. It was a very easy to hook up there was no need for any assistance. This receiver is awesome! I learned that Onkyo added some new features and they fixed the chip failure issue from the previous model.

This is an awesome receiver for the price. Alexa and other things built into it plus the two zone feature that I have set up for my back patio and it replaced my older Onkyo receiver, which was great for what it was, but was lacking in the new features. I highly recommend this receiver for a home theater set up.

Set it and forget it, plenty of power for most setups without the need for an amp. Onkyo really nailed it with this one, 4k 120hz capable for gaming and THX certified for crystal clear sound with no signs of artifacts. Very happy with this purchase.

My second Onkyo TX receiver. This one is the upgrade that includes the better HDMI, which became necessary after new tv did not handshake with my older Onkyo. So for me I love this new upgrade. I am familiar with the hookups and settings. Great home theater receiver. It does all I wanted and more. I run Bose speakers through which sound great.

It work well for the surround, but the amplifier does not streaming some contents from website using the HDMI inputs due to copyright issues. I had to cast it directly to the TV which was a pain, but other that, it play music and movies better that i expected.

Super upgrade to Dolby Atmos… very nice unit. I don’t know if all new receivers do this, but every time is a diferente mode makes a click noise. This is the only reason I didn’t give it a 5 stars. But it’s a great price for all the features that is offers.

Once I got the unit set up correctly it worked perfectly. I had trouble getting the unit to switch from one system to another. I finally found that one of my HDMI cables was not compatible. I changed all of my cables to HDMI 8K 2.1 ultra high speed and the picture and sound are great, and switching from one input to another is seamless and easy. The sound quality and volume are excellent. I particularly like the ability to increase vocal from the remote.

The Denon receiver is far superior and out performs other big name receivers. I had actually bought an other brand receiver and it was not able to handle the speakers I had even though it was rated to exceed what I was installing. I ended up having to return the unit and buy the Denon. From the moment I installed my speakers which are wired, it worked perfectly and seamlessly with my setup. Watching movies and concerts are a treat and sound like I am immersed in the sight and sound.

Its been a month now since I hooked up stereo receiver. It works great so far. I have everything running through the receiver. It's nice to have to use only 1 remote now to control everything. It also works well with Alexa. It replaced a 10 year old Sony surround sound system. I paired the new receiver with the Klipsch surround sound system.

I just replaced my 3 year old Pioneer Elite with this feature-rich Onkyo and couldn't be happier. HDMI 2.1, THX, Dolby Atmos / DTS:X, 8K, 4K 120, HDR10+ etc, this receiver has it all and more.
Unboxing and set up was pretty straight forward as long as you planned ahead and know where your speakers are going to be and wiring it all up. I had about 200 feet of 14 gauge oxygen-free pure copper that I used to set up my 7.1 Klipsch system. In the box is the standard paperwork, receiver, antennas and a super useful speaker setup microphone.
Firing the receiver up for the 1st time greets you with the setup menu and walks you through every step of the way to configure everything the way you want. When I setup the 7.1 Klipsch and did a speaker test, everything worked beautifully including Atmos. The system will tell you to plug in the included mic and place it ear level to where you sit and automatically adjust every speaker and subwoofer setting to the best levels for you. Loved this feature.
There are 6 HDMI inputs. The 1st 3 are 8K compatible and the last 3 can do 4K. I don't have a 8k screen/monitor so I could not check to see how well it performs. But I did have my PS5 and Xbox Series X on the 1st 2 inputs and can confirm 4K 120 works perfectly. Playing games felt super immersive and the sounds were on point. In front, beside and behind, you hear it all. Movies were great. If you are a super video/audiophile, you will obviously use a high end stand-alone Blu-ray player instead of a gaming console for the best of the best in audio and visual.
The Onkyo connected to the internet via my WIFI and started to update itself to the latest firmware. I did download the Onkyo Controller app via Google Play and used it to not only control the EQ settings but also connect my phone via Bluetooth to stream music. I could not get it to pair the first couple of times and did not realize that once it said Now Pairing, I had to manually go into my phone's BT setting and select the receiver to finish the pairing process. After that, music just filled the house perfectly.
The receiver overall is a powerhouse behemoth that will easily be future-proof for the next 4-6 years easily. Can power a 7.2 setup without breaking a sweat. Super user friendly and easy to use/setup. If you are looking for a receiver for next gen gaming, theater-like surround and all the most recent and modern creature comforts, then look no further.
