Fantastic subwoofer. Quick. Elegant. Compact. Integrates well with speakers using the high-level connection. I recommend watching Rel’s YouTube channel for tips on how to set up the sub and to optimize it. Ideal for small to medium rooms. Stellar product for 2-channel listening. You might want two of them if budget and space allow for it.

The tx5's are a very decent upgrade. They fill in the lows well and help the rest of the system's speakers sound very nice, too. You can spent more but these are probably good enough. If your room is 10 × 15 foot with 9 foot ceilings. You will also hear them in the rest of the house and on any floor of it. And my neighbors hear them, too.

If you want floor shaking bass, this isn’t for you. But if you want reference sound to match quality speakers then it simply cannot be best for the price. Design is absolutely beautiful as well.

Amazing sub that integrates well with any bookshelf speaker. Bass sounds like it's coming from the center image of your speakers. If you are looking to add some tight and accurate bottom end to make your speakers full range. This is the sub to get.

I was looking for a musical sub(subs) to strengthen the low end of my paradigm speakers. The reviews on this particular sub were almost all positive. I started off with a single sub and was amazed at the difference in the frequency spectrum. So I decided to add a second sub. Placement is not critical, but affects the soundstage dramatically. Mine are not placed the way they should be as my room won’t allow it. But after adjusting the crossover and volume level, I was still able to get them to merge with the speakers without the “boomy” junk you get with home theater subs. On a side note, I also added an inexpensive Douk Audio T 8 pro tube equalizer, what an improvement. It’s like I have a new system!

Rel subwoofers are really better categorized as woofers. That being said, it sounds very good. The rca input is way cleaner than the lfe input. Maybe a little overpriced, maybe not. Either way, definitely sounds good in 2 channel stereo.

Awesome product. I switched from a cheap $150 12" Sony subwoofer to the T5X - 8". I'm running it through high frequency into my stereo Marantz reciever. Sound is more musical and is able to be blended into my towers with little to no difficulty and with less power being pushed. Love that it fires down, crossover for LFE & High Freq / built quality. Wish it had a standby mode. Would like to get a second to experience stero bass.

I tried SVS Micro, SVS Pro 1000, with my Marantz PM8006 and Polk Audio R200s. Neither can do what this REL does. I used the high output speaker input from the PM to the REL. Within 20 minutes set up and adjustments were set. I know my system and room, so placement and settings were a breeze. The SVS subs were a chore to try and integrate, even with their phone app. They never really made a difference. The REL was instant. The depth, texture, weight, pressure of the sound was immediate. The entire music spectrum sounded fuller and complete from Vocals being fuller, drums having texture and different sounds, even high notes had a weight and presence to them. Yes presence was added to everything. If you truly love 2 channel music add this sub and you will thank yourself. It is that much better and different from the SVS Micro and 1000 Pro. The high level input carries the tone of the PM to the REL, a perfect match with the R200s. The REL is a tank and performs all the heavy lifting you will need.

All I can say about this sub is wow. I have a 2 channel system that I mostly listen to vinyls on. I wasn't lacking bass, but I wanted to fill in the soundscape.
This little sub has far exceeded all my expectations. Its small, but feels like its built like a tank. If I wanted to shake the dishes in my kitchen i totally could, so it has plenty of power. It really made my music come to life. Great job REL! Im a believer!

I am a total noob to hifi and this was a my first venture into it after about 20 years. Bought this for a 2.1 set up. Cambridge audio integrated amp and Dynaudio emit 30 speakers.
The good - subjective, but I think the sub looks beautiful, probably the best looking sub I have seen.
Build quality is premium, feels like a little tank though this the second smallest sub from REL.
The bad- bad is a little harsh, but you get what you pay for ( though at a premium). Goes down to 32 hz, If anyone is into chest thumping bass, don’t bother. My other problem is that it is / was a pain to set up the “right” volume and crossover. A few common sense additions like input selection indicators for the knobs will go a long way. Surprised that there were no visual indicators, that would really help rather than “set the volume at 14 clicks and crossover at 8 clicks with the knob”. Also the online advice to place the sub isn’t really gonna work if you aren’t a rabid audiophile (spend hours setting up and listening and adjusting) and unless you have a dimensionally accurate “listening room”. My real works scenario is a finished basement with real world shapes and dimensions where the room opens up to a larger space. I can’t keep it in a corner, period. The high level input is grossly overrated and to my untrained ears, a gimmick. Rel should probably supply a high quality cable instead, again just my opinion as it’s my review! If I had the budget I would have bought the 7 or 9x or bought something with more power ( at least in paper) but less expensive.
Bottom line - do your research, you may love it or be left wondering why you didn’t try other models/makes in similar category. Will probably use it for couple of years and see if REl have an exchange program similar to svs

Replaced a Velodyne Mini Vee. Definitely an upgrade with the same price range. Did not ever bond with the Velodyne. Purchased the sub woofer specifically for music listening and not for special effects associated with movies. Sounds amazing very musical, as in produces even bottom end without the boominess and not at the same time being too sterile. I am a hobby musician and play electric guitar and bass. This sub woofer provides the bass/lower end I would hear in a live performance.

nice sub to match my revel m16s. not for bass heads as it is more of a speed woofer vs a subwoofer for movies. if looking for a good sub for music perfect. not for movies

The REL Subwoofer is an absolute game-changer for anyone looking to enhance their audio experience. Its deep, tight, and musical bass adds incredible depth to both movies and music without ever sounding boomy or overpowering. The build quality is exceptional, and setup is a breeze, thanks to REL’s high-level connection options. Whether you're a home theater enthusiast or an audiophile, this subwoofer seamlessly integrates with any system, delivering clean, articulate low frequencies that truly bring sound to life. Highly recommended!

Great build quality and a very clean look. I purchased this to support a pair of bookshelf speakers in a 2.1 configuration. Excellent sound for listening to music.

This is an incredible sub for music listening. Plenty of low bass extension and plenty of punch to give the impression of drums and anything it is replicating. Tight and musical. I love my REL!

I was very sceptacle about buying this subwoofer but I must say, it really blew me away. Great sound and love the glossy piano look. You will not be dissapointed. Kudos to REL.

Works very well with my system. My main speakers are rated at -3dB at 40 Htz. So they don't need much help at the bottom end.
Very nice quality.
Only minor negative that I have found, is that the knobs are metal. When I get up out of my chair to make an adjustment, I invariably pick up a static electricity charge. When I go and touch a knob, I get a shock, and it creates a loud "Thump" from the sub. The knobs should be isolated from the electronics. That's why I deducted 1 star

Have two of these, one for each speaker. If you take your time with placement, gain settings, you can get these subs to blend in nicely with the mix. Remember, these subs shine for music and do a great job adding to the soundstage.
