First off I'm a trucker so this was a one shot deal for me. I had a 43" sansung prior but I got damaged from a fall. This 50" cover the entire area for the TV with no room to spare. So it's snug and pinned down. It's like im at a movie theater when I lay down or chillout. AMAZING.
NOW, If you're debating this TV over another TV or is wondering if it'll be what you like. Let me tell you, THIS TV IS EVVVVERYTHING! I was and is still mind blown at how amazing this TV is. I'm a gamer an the way this TV ups the scale on how well and good the game plays is mind blowing to me. I couldn't believe it honestly. The speakers that come on the TV and the way the sound moves depeing on where it's coming from in the game is again mind blowing! The bass and clarity as well. I also enjoy a good movie or show before bed and the way the lighting changes it's not just your usual dimm due to the lighting in the area changing it really does something that's again mind blowing. It took me awhile to just watch something or focus on the game I was 0laying because I was just staring at the TV and how well it played and sound.
I have zero regrets from making this purchase and I see why the price tag is over 1k. Again no regrets. I'd HIGHLY recommend this TV to anyone who asks.

I bought an Excellence open box Tv, however the experience is bad. The box is like a scrap box that got left outside under rain for days. Within the box, all the supporting pieces are smashed and broken. The TV came without remote, power cable, hdmi, but the stand. Afte several day of usage, this TV got flickering in the lower half every 5 mins. The flickering happens more frequenly to the point that it completely turn off thr screen for several seconds.

Bought an open box (excellent condition), said it was inspected but that must just mean they looked to see if it turned on and off…No hardware provided and a string of LEDs are out. I would hate to see what a fair condition looks like. I got the 5 yr warranty so we’ll see how that goes…

Although there are a multitude of rave reviews regarding the picture quality of this television set, actually achieving that goal is both frustrating and tedious. After unboxing and setup, don't expect to plug in the new TV, sit back, and enjoy your favorite programming as you will be sorely disappointed with the factory settings.
There are myriad "Expert" settings and combinations thereof with which the user can experiment in search of that satisfactory balance of color tone, brightness, sharpness, eliminating the "soap opera" effect, etc. Picture calibration (restricted to "Movie" picture mode) is even an option with the use of a mobil phone, but my experience with it proved to be less than satisfactory.
By all accounts, reviewers rave about the quality of the picture while streaming which may very well be accurate; however, there remains a large segment of the population who continue to subscribe to cable/satellite services. Therein lies the problem. Once you've managed to navigate the settings and achieve that perfect picture; change the channel/station and it all goes out the window. Nothing is consistent between broadcasting networks, programming, and even advertising; which only leads to more time wasted tinkering with the settings.
Viewing the spatter of 4K pictures and short videos in "Retail" or "Maintenance" mode provides an experience of unparalleled awe and wonder; a fantastic preview of the capabilities of this television. Unfortunately the translation is lost in "Home" mode.
In short, I have been a dedicated purchaser/user of Samsung televisions dating back to the early 90's and currently have two "older" LED sets, a 32" and a 49" (UN49NU8000); and though less technologically advanced, by all appearances they provide a better and more consistent picture with a lot less tweaking to achieve the consummate viewing experience than either the QN50QN90D or QN50QN90C . The older models have a "Natural" picture mode which has been eliminated in the newer models; unfortunate, as that mode seems to provide a good starting point to achieve a great picture with a lot less work.
One final observation: When entering the "Home" screen of the older models (now referred to as the "Smart Hub" in the new models), the current programming passing through the cable box/AVR continues to be displayed in the background which allows the user to exit and maintain the input source; even when exiting an app. Not so with these new models; though there is a "Live" option for live programming as a background, it lacks an ability/option to connect to the main source of input (ie: AVR). So, if an alternate input source is used such as an app, when exiting in an effort to return to the main source of input (again AVR), the user is forced to navigate to, and select/change the input source back to AVR, as it is no longer displayed in the "Recent" window; an added and aggravating extra step.
Overall, I give the QN50QN90D a grade of C; primarily due to my inability to achieve an acceptable, well balanced and consistent viewing experience across the entire spectrum of programming that our satellite network provides. To be clear, that programming is also available to us via fiber optics which offers no discernible difference in reception. In my humble opinion, for the current price of this unit, it should be blowing my socks off. In that respect, I'm disappointed because it doesn't.
Finally, my genuine thanks to BestBuy's management and support staff at our local storefront. They displayed an exceptional amount of patience and professionalism in dealing with my many concerns, as well as making every effort to ensure that I departed as a satisfied customer. They deserve to be recognized here.

EricB,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your QN90D TV. To ensure you’ve got the latest image quality updates, please confirm that your TV is up to date with the latest firmware version. You can check by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
If the picture you’re seeing is still not to your liking after updating firmware, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode ...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments 2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments 3. Eco: Provided to save energy 4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room 5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
Intelligent Mode enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings > Intelligent Mode.
While your TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it, the closer your content is to 4K, the better the image will look on the screen. Here are some tips to help improve the picture clarity: 1) HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing. 2) If you have an analog cable box or satellite box, upgrade to a digital cable box or satellite box. 3) Change the output resolution of your devices, such as digital broadcast receiver, IPTV, and set-top box to UHD or HD.

Great picture with better menu than the 90C.

The 50" inch Qn90D version has a wonderful picture, it is easier to use the new menu than on the 43" inch Qn90C version, which I also recently bought and I think the 43" 90C has a slightly better picture, but the frame of this 50" is horrible and has a lot of flex, The 43" 90C was built sturdier.
Get the warranty.
Compared to the Q70R it is moderately better in the 4K picture detail department but the Qn70R is built much more robustly and will likely be working 10 years from now. I am very worried this one. With standard Blu-rays there wasn't that big of an improvement over the Q70R.
My biggest dissatisfaction was the banged up box packaging that they gave me when I picked up the television. It was treated so badly the styrofoam had stress fractures and was crushed in areas.
This television should have been RTV'd and not sold because of the damage to the shipping box.

The picture quality is great and the audio synced up with our Sonos sound bar without a hitch. Our last TV was also a Samsung, and it performed flawlessly for 12 years. The price on this new set, however, is pretty steep. Hoping it holds up as well as its predecessor.

I haven’t had to buy a new tv for 17 years so this tv was a major change from the older technology. I found the “smart” features a little confusing and even difficult to use. I think the fact that it is a Samsung oriented “smart” similar to a Roku “smart” that it will take some time to fully utilize the features. I’m hopeful over time it will become
easier. The picture quality is outstanding. I opted to buy the Neo QLED as opposed to the OLED based on how the store displays looked to me.
The sales person preferred the OLED but said either version is great. Samsung rates both TVs as being on the same level so I suggest you go to the store and compare for yourself.
I do have a downside that I’m sure Best Buy will address once I tell them about it and that is on some programming, mostly non-streaming programs, the volume fluctuates without any obvious reason. It gets loud then soft and back again. Once I get this addressed I’ll add to this review.

I have had this 50 inch Samsung QS90D for about 2 months now and it is great for every aspect. The sound is great, watching movies is great, and awesome for PS5 Pro owners because of the high frame rate. It's amazing This is my first OLED and I got it at a great price and not only do I get out of a great price 30 days after I bought it it went on sale for $200 less and Best buy matched the the sale price that was $200 cheaper than when I bought it. So I received the $200 back. This TV is great when you just leave it in intelligent mode it does everything for you when it's dark it gets dimmer, when it's bright in the daytime TV that's brighter. That's the AI setup but you don't have to have it that way you can set it up anyway you want. I bought this TV because I wanted the best out of my PS5 Pro and it looks beautiful. I took my Sony 50-in Bravia 800 and put that in the living room input the new TV in its place. This is an amazing TV and I would encourage anyone to take a look at this one especially now that it's on sale It's a great buy.

My dad needed a new TV to replace his older Samsung (that was running out of internal hard drive space).
I got him a Google TV Streamer but his old TV only had 2 HDMI ports. Since he has satellite and cable, and since HDMI splitters are more of a hassle than a fix, we couldn't even use the Google device to bypass the storage issue. I'll never again buy a TV with only 2 inputs), so we couldn't even use that to solve the storage issue since he has cable and satellite and HDMI switches are more hassle than they're worth.
I checked Reddit to get some info. r/4kTV had a link to a US/Canada buying guide on r/HTBuyingGuides and wow, it was very detailed and went into which models to avoid, and which to buy.
This model was one of the ones without any weird issues. Setup was easy enough, you do need to have a space to lay the TV down flat to install the base, but it was very easy (just need a Phillips screwdriver). The TV is not too heavy either, and I like how the base is a single thing in the center, not like models with the 2 cheap legs on either side. Having it in the middle allows you to place the TV on a narrower TV stand.
So far, my dad has really enjoyed the TV and it has plenty of HDMI. It also seems like this TV integrates with his Spectrum and Direct TB's better, and the last Samsung always had ads and imI haven't noticed them on this one.
Oh, also the LED's are like 1/40th the size of typical/older tech, per what I was reading.
