I've owned this Indoor camera for a week and I've been pretty impressed so far. I've been a SimpliSafe customer through two generations of products and this has been one of my favorite upgrades.
[PROS]
Sleek, Intuitive Design: This camera looks great in more ways than one. The slim frame is a great space saver for any shelf or ledge you would want to place this one. Also, the white color finish blends in well with my walls so it doesn't stand out as much.
Long battery life: I've owned this camera for a little bit over a week and battery life is still at 99%. That's stellar performance for a security device.
Very responsive: This device is a big step up from the first generation indoor camera. Viewing a live feed almost feels instantaneous. Whenever I disable my system, the camera immediately start to record. The older indoor camera just felt too sluggish and was very buggy.
Crisp, picture quality: The Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Camera presents very crisp video quality. When viewing the feed, everything appeared very detailed.
[CONS]
Micro USB charger: I'm not a fan of still having to use a Micro USB cable to charge up this device. Although these cables can still be found in the store, USB C is a widely accepted standard now and much more convenient to use. However, I do understand the design choice that allows owners of the 1st gen camera to still use their previous cable.
Setup woes: This could be a one-off, but it took several attempts to get the camera connected to my WiFi. I finally had to do a factory reset and then the camera connected on the first attempt. As a longtime, IT employee, I can say that I'm pretty tech savvy so this did leave me puzzled.
[CONCLUSION]
This camera should be more than serviceable for home security needs. I'm extremely happy that I made the upgrade to switch. I enjoy this product so much that I might get a second camera.

Incredible Camera From SimpliSafe!

I love love my SimpliSafe Alarm System. It’s simple, SAFE, easy to set up, easy to use and super affordable, without a long-term contract. As long as you continue to pay SimpliSafe’s very reasonable monthly monitoring fee, you’re as protected as can be. I just added this new Smart Alarm - Wireless Indoor Camera to my system, which was beyond easy to set up and it’s simply the best camera SimpliSafe has offered yet. You need to provide the camera a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection for it to connect. Most modern routers offer 2.4GHz and 5GHz anyway, so this shouldn’t be an issue for most people.
It comes nicely packaged and includes the camera, a Micro USB to USB A cable, which is very long, mounting hardware if you want to mount the camera on a wall, a warranty manual and a very simple user page. Maybe a bit too simple, but all you really need to know is to fully charge the camera, which by the way, can take up to 5 hours to charge. Then open the SimpliSafe App on your cell phone, press the little button on the top of the camera and your app will easily walk you through connecting the camera to your SimpliSafe Homebase. It took nearly 4 hours to charge mine out of the box. And while there wasn’t anything in the documents provided, you can do what I’m doing and keep it plugged into power 24 hours a day, so you don’t ever have to worry about the camera losing its charge. Note that you do not get a charging cube with the camera. But chances are that like me, you already have a drawer full of charging cubes (it needs to be 7.5w, which most are anyway).
This new camera has a privacy shutter, which clicks audibly when it’s opened or closed, and it has a LED light which lights when the camera is in use. But the real advantage of this Camera is how SimpliSafe monitoring agents can access it during an alarm and in real time speak through the camera to alert an intruder they have called the police and advise someone who shouldn’t be in your home to leave. Plus, the camera is fully encrypted and can ONLY be viewed by monitoring agents when the alarm has been triggered. Now to get that service, you do need to be paying for the Fast Protect Monitoring Service from SimpliSafe, but if you already have a SimpliSafe system, you likely already pay for the service, which is as I said, very affordable. You can change the settings for when the camera shutter cover is open or closed in the SimpliSafe app on your mobile phone.
Compared to the previous generation SimpliSafe camera, this new camera has very wide viewing angle (125degree diagonal) and the motion detector has a 90degree horizontal field of view and it can detect motion up to 30 feet in front of the camera’s field of view. The camera is HD with 1536p HD Video Capture, 10x Digital Zoom and should someone trip the alarm, it has an 80-decibel siren. It has night vision and I have already captured some video in virtually total darkness and the video is crystal clear without digital noise. That’s impressive, for sure.
I’m mightily impressed with this new HD Smart Alarm - Wireless Indoor Camera from SimpliSafe. If there was anything I’d change, it would be the charging cable which is Micro USB to USB A. It’s 2023. Virtually no one uses Micro USB and USB A is a dying connection. I would encourage the folks at SimpliSafe to go with the modern world and incorporate USB C. I’ve pretty much moved over to USB C for everything I use these days. I was lucky to already have a USB Charging Cube available, but if you don’t have one, you can buy one from SimpliSafe or BestBuy as well and they’re by no means expensive.
Otherwise, this is a truly exceptional intelligent, extremely competent camera from SimpliSafe and if you have a SimpliSafe system in your home, it’s very reasonably priced, is super easy to set up, provides a degree of security unmatched by anyone else and would be a great addition to provide even better protection for your home.

Excellent Wireless Camera

I have been a SimpliSafe customer for several years and currently use their previous generation 1080p HD wired cameras. These have worked well but I have always wanted to have a camera that can be placed away from an outlet. Well, SimpliSafe finally released their next generation indoor camera and it is wireless!
Pros:
• Easy to connect – There is a quick start guide included with the camera; however, the app makes the steps required to connect and use the camera very clear. After it is charged, you login to the app and select add a camera or device. Select the camera and follow the directions. Make sure you are near the base station during setup. Of note, it only supports the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.
• Lightweight – The camera is very light, weighing just under 0.5 lbs. It comes with wall mounting hardware or can simply be placed on a self/ledge.
• Privacy shutter – The camera by default keeps the privacy shutter closed and it is easy to tell when it is actively recording.
• No false alarms – During setup I selected for the camera to only detect people. So far, no false alarms by either of my large dogs or cat.
• Good video quality – Overall, the video quality is superior to the old generation camera. I do not get any significant lag when watching live. The night mode pictures are quite clear. To take advantage of some of the recording features, you need to have the “Requires Fast Protect” monitoring plan. Not a big deal for me since I use many of their products including the professional monitoring.
Cons:
• No charging brick – I mean I understand not wanting to create waste but for the price include the charging brick and not just the USB cord. This seems to be the new trend all big-name companies are doing. The problem? I now have a ton of USB cords and not enough charging bricks. I shouldn’t have to constantly try to track down the correct charging brick to use the product. Alternatively, you could sell a “starter” version of either the whole monitoring system or the camera and include a charging brick with it.
• Cord type – It is time to adopt USB-C to USB-C. This is the future.

This camera is super easy to setup and is of the same high quality that all SimpliSafe devices are made. My entire house security system is made of SimpliSafe devices and have several other SimpliSafe cameras installed inside and out. The mount installs easily with four screws. The camera slides onto the mount is held in place very secure. You have the option to charge and use completely wireless, or the USB power cord is plenty long enough to leave it plugged all the time. I choose to leave it powered all the time and I had plenty enough cord to run from the top of an inside door, down the door frame and to a nearby outlet. Connection was simple and fast using the mobile SimpliSafe application. Note, you must have a SimpliSafe account base for it to work. It cannot be used as a stand-alone device. I really like the fact that it has built in privacy shutter that you can easily see if it is in place and it automatically retracts only when you are actively viewing video. I am using this camera to keep a watch on my son's room and he instantly knows when we are viewing because he can tell when the shutter is retracted. Not only does it function great, it looks modern and it does not need to be hidden. There is an additional subscription fee if you would like real-time all the time monitoring of the camera, but it works great as an on demand device as well.

A Great Addition

I’ve been using SimpliSafe for our home security for around a year now, we had a traditional security system in our home since we moved in around 15 years ago. We decided to go with SimpliSafe since they seemed to offer the same protection, but allowed us to customize the smart features in our home; all of this for less than half of what I was paying with the other one.
Setting up the new camera was very easy. We already had the keypad and base station setup so adding the camera was simple. After charging the camera up, with the included cable, I was ready to add it to my system. I needed to update the keypad/base station so after I ran the update it was simple to use the app on my phone to add the new camera to our system.
I love that you can run it wirelessly so you can mount it or place it just about anywhere in your home. If it is anything like our outdoor wireless cameras, the battery should last for a long time. I really like that the camera allows SimpliSafe to communicate with anyone in the home should the alarm be triggered. This allows the agent to either speak to the intruder or communicate with someone in the home to make sure that everything is OK.
We’ve been very happy with SimpliSafe over this last year that we swapped to them. All of their components work flawlessly so I expect this new camera will be the same. Luckily, we have yet to have to have an actual intrusion so haven’t experienced that part, but everything else is great. The app is easy to use, and allows us to keep an eye on our home when we are away.

For the past three years, I’ve been a satisfied SimpliSafe alarm system user thanks to its ease of use and affordable subscription price. I have pretty much all their many different devices. Now I have their wireless security camera added to the crowd.
This is the first indoor wireless security camera from SimpliSafe. I like the small size and modern looks with rounded edges. It offers all the features of the wired SimpliCam such as smart person detection, two-way audio, night vision, privacy shutter and HD video plus additional ones like direct access to monitoring center, a built-in siren and a wider recording field. One big advantage of this camera is the wireless feature that provides more freedom of placement without having to worry about wiring.
My experience so far has been fairly positive. As is traditional with SimpliSafe products, the set up was easy and quick. Be aware that this camera is only compatible with the Gen. 3 security system. The camera charges quickly and will last for a few months with normal usage. I use it every night and the motion sensor works well. The night vision is of good quality just like the previous model. I tried the 2-way audio and there were no issues. I haven’t had the opportunity to test the built-in siren yet. With direct access to the monitoring center, Simplisafe offers the ‘24/7 Live Guard Protection’ service that allows its agents to capture evidence and verify threats. They will call you if anything happens, and if required, request a police response to your home. I signed up for it at no additional cost as far as I know. FYI, you must have the ‘Fast Protect’ monitoring plan to get the Live Guard Protection feature. Only complaint I have is the time it takes to wake up the camera when monitoring live from the app. I’ve run several tests and too often it took 15 seconds or more to wake up the camera while the wired cameras take barely a couple of seconds. Even when wired, it wakes up much quicker. Something that might be fixed with a firmware update one day.
Apart from the slow wake up time, this is a solid first indoor wireless security camera from SimpliSafe. It can easily be customized to your preferences in the app and it can be placed practically anywhere thanks to its small size and its wireless feature. I will add a few more to my SimpliSafe system.

This Smart Alarm camera from SimpliSafe is a great addition to my current system. The camera is wireless and perfect for indoor purposes. The feature of having a privacy shutter on a camera like this is a nice feature that I haven't seen before.
The camera has a small footprint and sits firmly on the stand it comes with. Included is a 10 foot USB charging cable, but will require your own wall plug. The wifi connection works smoothly with my home wifi and 2.4Ghz. You'll need to have the Simplisafe home base in order to make this camera work, along with the app. The USB charging cable works very well to recharge the internal battery on the wireless camera. The video quality on the camera is crisp and precise at 1536p HD video. A nice wide video of 125 degree field of view allows for a broad scope of what is happening. Night vision works really well to make out your image, and the two way audio is precise to speak and hear.
The best use of this highly intelligent camera is to have the Simplisafe monitoring plan. This allows the agent to see and talk to the intruder to deter and stop them in their tracks. There is a built in siren and internal alarm which helps to stop potential situations from unfolding. With the service plan you can get assistance from agents to send appropriate dispatch of emergency services as needed. This 24/7 live protection is a very welcome item for my family's peace of mind.
Overall a great camera that can capture crisp video and has a lot of connected features that allow for added communication with the proper agencies.

This is a great little camera to add to a system. Coming from Simplisafe’s black indoor camera, I wasn’t sure what to make of its slim profile and new white color. But with its internal battery, it makes a lot of sense for placement on a shelf, or to help it disappear into the corner of a room on a wall with cables everywhere.
But more than that, it also serves as a siren and alarm-triggering motion sensor. I had been using their entry-level camera plus a nearby motion sensor for this use, but no longer need to. These are great features. I enjoy how much it’s simplified our setup that I plan on replacing the older cameras with these.
I was also surprised by the new, nearly square video it records. Their original camera has more of a wide format that appears small within the app… unless your rotate your device. This camera offers a better view up and down, while capturing a slightly increased amount of the room with a viewing angle of 125 degrees.
Unlike systems that are designed to continuously record, these are motion activated. I prefer this for security based products as it allows the battery to last much longer and without the creep-factor of having a camera recording at all times within the home. At the same time, I like having cameras positioned strategically on the inside of the home as I’ve seen first hand the need to capture evidence upon a break-in. Footage during our real life break-in was vital to be able to actually book the perpetrator with the crimes of trespassing and stealing.
These cameras also offer the Simplisafe monitoring agents to see live video during an alarm. I think this is a very helpful feature - providing verified confirmation will get the police moving with high priority. Thieves can be fast and it’s likely that you could be away and asleep at the time of an alarm notification, which in itself is a reason to consider monitoring.
*In recap*
Good Stuff:
- Built in alarm-triggering motion sensor
- Built in siren
- Improved low light recording (in color) + night vision
- Better, taller camera view
- Blends into walls better, no cables
- Long lasting battery (at least when set active only while in Away/Home mode)
- When monitored, live-view confirmation by Simplisafe agents to get police moving faster.
Less than good stuff:
- App can still be a bit slow to provide recordings
- Simplisafe app can be slow to start up
- Not as nice looking if used with charging cable attached due to high charge port location.
- No charging adaptor included, only cable.

Like all Simplisafe products, the Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Security Camera works perfectly with my gen 3 security system. The Simplisafe app walks you through every step of the installation process, from how and when to mount the camera, to ensuring it is connected to the base station appropriately. Once connected, you can control and customize just about every feature the camera has to offer. Something I like about this particular camera compared to my wireless outdoor camera is the physical privacy shutter. You’re able to customize how the shutter behaves when your security system is set to off, home, and away mode. This greatly helps reduce unwanted push notifications to my phone when I’m home and working in the garage, which is where my camera is mounted. One thing I do not love about the shutter however, is that you hear it physically open when you go to live view. This can be a bit jarring if your phone’s volume is all the way up. My hope is that this will be corrected with a future software update. Simplisafe does include a 10’ USB charging cable with the camera, which is nice, but I’d like to see them throw in a charging brick. I personally keep my camera plugged in 24/7 to prevent the need for periodic dismounting and charging. I’m never a fan of digging through drawers to find a compatible charging brick.
As a whole, I really like my Simplisafe security system. Compared to other brands out there, I appreciate that all of their products can be set up DIY style. Their monitoring plans are also reasonably priced and give me peace of mind knowing my home is being protected from unwanted entry, water, and fire damage, especially when I’m away. The Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Security Camera is a great additional to the Simplisafe lineup and I’m considering purchasing more for other areas of my home.

I have had SimpliSafe home security solution for a year and am extremely satisfied with their products and security monitoring service. Their latest product is the Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Camera. I will use it as a wired power camera with the included long USB charging cable. Note that the kit does not include the USB power adapter (7.5w minimum). This new product and the 24/7 Live Monitoring Protection service allow the monitoring agents to access live feeds, alert intruders of police response, and enhance law enforcement response times. The difference between this camera and the older one is that the agents get live streams versus the agents reviewing recorded footage when an alarm is triggered. This live stream also allows agents to interact with intruders and alert them that police are on the way and that video recording is in progress. You can turn off this feature anytime in the app and create a privacy shutter(off) when the system is turned off or in the “Home: mode. When the camera LED lights an amber color, livestream activity exists. According to SimpliSafe, an agent can’t live stream without an active alarm event. The HD camera video offers a wide field of view and a built-in siren, motion detector, night vision, and smart person detection. The system sends you instant phone alerts to monitor and see what’s happening in your home. The smart camera can be installed on top of a table or bookshelf or mounted on a wall using the provided wall plate (also the mountain screws and wall anchors if needed). Overall, I am satisfied with my SimpliSafe home security solution.

We have had SimpliSafe security for years now and have always enjoyed the protection and flexibility it allows us. Up until now, we haven't used any SimpliSafe cameras as we have another brand of doorbell and floodlight cameras set up. This is definitely going to change.
First off, as all SimpliSafe products are, setup was simple, quick, and very easy to do. Upon receiving the Smart Alarm Wireless indoor camera, I was able to have it up and running in less than 10 minutes.
At first, I placed the camera pointing towards my front door but then decided a wide-angle view of the most vulnerable space in my home would be a better idea. So I've placed the camera in my basement where you can see a wide angle of the sliding doors for the walkout basement, the hallway to the bathrooms and bedrooms, and a good portion of the living space which we use mostly for storage. Having the camera set up in the basement not only seems more logical, but the notifications for movement when pointed at the front door became excessive.
This camera's resolution is very good and meshes so well with the rest of our SimpliSafe ecosystem. I may just have to buy a few more! Highly recommended.

I had high hopes for this camera, however, it consistently failed to save videos to the basestation making it useless as a security device. Through SimpliSafe tech support I tried two separate cameras, both with the same results. I could live stream but motion events were lost. The camera requires 2mbps of data to upload motion events. In-app diagnostics consistently showed my camera had a minimum of 6mbps (three times what it needed) but failed to upload every time. The device was within 10 feet of the base station and within 20 of the router. Tech support escalated my issue but after no response I chose to return the product for a full refund before my warranty ran out. I believe the product is well intentioned but I don't believe it was properly tested or ready for market. I would stick with the older 1080p simplicam.

Thanks for the feedback. The Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Camera saves videos in the cloud through your home's WiFi (and not to the Base Station). But it does sound like your WiFi connection is good, so there might be other factors we would need to troubleshoot. We're sorry to hear that you have returned your camera already, but if you want to try again, please let us know and we'll get it working at 100% for you.
