Customers are saying

Customers commend the 65" Class BRAVIA 8 OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV for its exceptional picture quality, particularly its OLED display, which delivers rich colors and deep blacks. They also appreciate the excellent sound quality, eliminating the need for a soundbar. However, some users express concerns about the remote control's functionality and the TV's brightness levels in extremely bright rooms.

    Personal Review: Sony Bravia 8

The Sony Bravia 8 is a TV that truly delivers on its promise of stunning visuals and a premium viewing experience. The OLED panel produces breathtakingly deep blacks, vibrant colors, and an overall picture quality that feels cinematic. Whether you’re watching movies, sports, or playing games, the clarity and detail stand out. One of my favorite features is the Google TV interface. It’s intuitive and gives easy access to all streaming platforms, making it a breeze to switch between apps. The TV’s design is sleek and modern, blending seamlessly into any room setup. On the gaming side, the support for 4K at 120Hz and VRR means fast-paced action feels smooth and responsive, which is a huge plus for any gamer. However, I did notice the TV could struggle in extremely bright rooms since it doesn’t quite reach the brightness levels of some competitors. Overall, the Bravia 8 strikes a great balance between performance and value, making it a perfect choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment system without breaking the bank.

What would you expect from a Sony Bravia 8 TV? Great picture? Great sound? Great connectivity? This model has all that and more. Beautifully styled, thin, light weight. It’s a great choice for any place in your home. I mounted mine on a wall in our bedroom, replacing an older 55” set, and we couldn’t be happier. I have a JBL Bar 5 soundbar already in place in there, but I did listen to the TV speaker output. It is plenty good enough to stand on its own. If the soundbar ever gives up the ghost, I won’t need to replace it. The attached pictures are from DirecTV, Roku and a couple of Blu-ray movies played on a Sony 4K blu-ray player. Consistent quality across all inputs is evident. I primarily use Roku for streaming apps, but this set seems to have plenty of capacity for onboard app storage, should that be your preference. The one slight disappointment is the remote. It lacks a backlight and a separate button to directly select an input source. As is, you must go into settings first to select a source. Not a big deal, but it could be more user-friendly. Still, this model is a great option if you are looking for a superior 65” set at a less-than-top-tier price.

Hi MikeJL, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with your Sony BRAVIA 8 TV. We're thrilled to hear that you're satisfied with the picture quality, sound, and connectivity, and it's great to know the design fits your style! Regarding the remote, while the bundled remote doesn’t feature a backlight, we have good news—you can upgrade to a premium backlit remote. We recommend checking out the RMFTX910U or RMFTX920U models, both compatible with your TV. Additionally, you may find this link helpful for directly selecting inputs on your remote: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/lusltn1/v1/en-003/01-07-05_02.html Thank you for choosing Sony, and enjoy your BRAVIA experience! - Maria Sony_US

I bought the 65 inch for my man cave in the attic and it displays an incredible picture. The black look fantastic and the upscaling is superior when watching 720 or 1080p. The Elf movie look like 4k. I have last year model in my living room xr77a80. So this is an upgrade. They are a few Sony perks that l will personally look hard to buy a non Sony TV. Google TV is by far the best smart feature. It’s not even close. You dont need Fire stick since you get all the app and features and it at the palm of your hand and dont need extra gadgets. And even thought i really liked the LG G4, their smart Web-Os was non starter for me. I love the ht-a7000 soundbar and you can pair any new Sony tv with Sony soundbar to make the TV as center speaker. When l paired with the 77 inch oled as center speaker with my 7000, it make monster music, very impressive. Granted the 77 inch doesn’t need additional speakers. I also look into pairing my Sony PS5 with the Sony TV. The new Bravia TV come out factory calibrated with Prime video, Netflix and Sony Core which gives the buyers 5 Sony free Movies to chose from old or new movies and a year subscription to use it.

Recently purchased the Sony Bravia 8 - 65" TV from Best Buy (ON SALE). Beautiful picture, but you will need to adjust the picture settings (brightness, gamma, black level, black adjust & so on) - very easy to do. I do highly recommend if on sale. I do wish Sony made a center stand and not the ugly side feet (but glad they made the feet adjustable). The REMOTE sucks! The buttons are way too small, and the remote IS NOT BACKLIT! We ordered two Sony remotes off Amazon that look identical to the remote that comes with the TV, which is backlit and works great. I didn't lower the 5-star rating for the remotes as the picture quality is superb. First OLED we purchased and we are extremely happy with the TV and picture quality.

It was time to upgrade my TV after 9 years with my Samsung UHDTV and after looking at Samsung and other brands I decided to go with this Sony Bravia 8 65in. I just fell in love with the cinematic picture quality on the movies. Sound is spectacular and then added the soundbar. I love the colors, not as bright as the Samsung but just fell in love with this TV. Great buy.

This is my very first OLED TV purchase after dedicating ample time to comparing other brands and posing numerous questions at various BestBuy locations to gather insightful feedback ultimately leading to an incredible OpenBox deal discovery from a Ocoee location. Picture Quality – Stunning OLED Brilliance From the moment I powered on the Bravia 8 OLED, I was floored by the sheer clarity and richness of the image. The self-emissive OLED panel delivers perfect blacks and stunning contrast. Shadow details in darker scenes (like nighttime shots in The Batman) are nuanced, never crushed or washed out. Color reproduction is natural and vibrant thanks to XR Triluminos Pro, which handles subtle skin tones and vivid landscapes equally well. The XR OLED Contrast Pro engine dynamically adjusts brightness, so HDR content pops without oversaturating colors. • Resolution: 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) • HDR Support: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG • Peak Brightness: Impressive for an OLED — much improved over older models ⸻ Sound Quality – Surprisingly Full Without a Soundbar Sony continues to innovate with Acoustic Surface Audio+ — the screen itself acts as the speaker. It’s wild how sound feels like it’s coming from the actor’s mouths or the exact spot where an explosion occurs. Dialogue is crisp and clear, and bass is respectable for an all-in-one system. That said, pairing it with a dedicated Dolby Atmos soundbar (like the Sony HT-A5000) truly elevates the cinematic feel. Smart Features – Google TV Done Right The Bravia 8 runs Google TV, and it’s the most intuitive interface I’ve used on a smart TV. Content is well-organized, and voice control with Google Assistant or Alexa is responsive. It also supports AirPlay 2 and Chromecast built-in, so casting from an iPhone or Android is seamless. If you’re a Bravia XR user, the Sony Bravia Core streaming service offers IMAX Enhanced content and near-lossless quality (far better than Netflix compression). Design & Build – Elegance in Simplicity This TV is gorgeous. Super thin panel, nearly bezel-less design, and a solid aluminum stand with adjustable height for a soundbar-friendly setup. It oozes premium quality. Eco & Smart Features • Ambient light sensors adapt brightness and tone automatically • Energy-saving modes are customizable • Auto Power Saving via presence sensors Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It? 101% Absolutely. The Sony Bravia 8 OLED is the perfect blend of performance, design, and smart features. Whether you’re watching 4K blockbusters, gaming, or streaming, it delivers a rich, immersive experience every time, Thank You BestBuy

I was able to talk my wife into letting me get this one as our old tv was on the way out. Despite my old tv only being a 5yr old 4k LED, I didn't think the picture quailty could be approved upon. I was wrong! This Sony looks beautiful in our living room. The OLED gives it the best contrast and richest colors I have ever seen. Everything we have watched so far has been an eye joygasm. I have an XBOX series X and this TV made it seem like I had a next gen console. If you're looking for the best, this is it!

The Sony Bravia 8 has a beautiful picture and wonderful sound. The picture is bright, clear and rich and doesn't have the glare that our 8 year old Samsung had. The sound is vibrant and a sound bar isn't necessary. The sound can be configured to the user during setup up using the remote control. We were also looking at the Samsung S90D and the LG C4. Because we don't have cable TV and only stream YouTube, Netflix, Disney, etc, we wanted a smart platform that was streamlined and easy to use. Sony's Google TV platform is easy to navigate and we don't need Roku anymore! We love our new Sony Bravia 8.

The sound quality being so good that a soundbar isn't necessary is a significant advantage, and it's great that you can tailor the audio to your preference during setup. Your choice of Sony for streaming services highlights the intuitive design of Sony's Google TV platform. I purchased a Sony 65" Bravia 8 OLED UHD Smart Google TV (2024) in July 2024 after reading extensive reviews of other manufacturers reviews and speaking with Best Buy customer service in store. I purchased this TV soon after it first became available. I owned Samsung and Sony TVs prior to this purchase. I still own a Samsung and Sony TV. Both have provided reliable service for years. I settled with this TV after seeing it on display and comparing with other TVs displayed at Best Buy. I compared Sony with similar Samsung and LG TVs. The reviews and comparisons I read provided customer issues with the reliability of current similar Samsung TVs. Reliability was also brought up by the Best Buy representatives during three visits to the store. I do use the sound from the TV as the AVR to provide sound. Pros: 1. Clarity in viewing with vivid colors. 2. Great viewing at night with no other lights on. 3. Black and dark colors are impressive. 4. Ease of use of remote and programming. Cons: 1. Not good in a highly lighted space due to screen reflection of room lighting. 2. Pricy

My new home demanded a new TV. I knew I wanted a 65" OLED - saw the choices and read the reviews online so it was going to be an LG, a Samsung, or the Sony. Went to Best Buy and looked at each of them - they all had great pictures and features so it was not an easy choice. Decided on the Sony and I am very satisfied...! Beautiful set, beautiful picture quality, be it a football game or a movie - an excellent choice! As with most all flat screen TV's the sound needed improvement so I did add a sound bar.

An excellent tv. Although there are multiple reviews that show others tv are good in terms of pure specifications, when you see them side by side the picture quality and the way Sony's image engine works is absolutely stunning. It's not the brightest or the one with the best contrast but I would choose watching my favourite movies on this TV anyday. The Google OS is icing on the cake and is smooth. The sound quality is Amazing although I would like to setup a soundbar for more stunning audio. The TV itself looks sleek and stylish. When I got this, Tv was a little reluctant sign in between Samsung and LG because on the floor room they did look a little bit brighter however I haven’t had a Sony that is still going after 18 years and much research. I realize the bill quality is incredible. I bought this brought it home. I have it in the bedroom and it’s a matter of fact I have to bring down the brightness depending on the movie because it is too bright for my eyes image quality. It’s great. It is so good. I have taken a video off the TV. Send it to someone and they thought it was real Additionally, the sound it’s incredible. The operating system from chrome it’s great seamless to use not clunky like Samsung and LG.

Of all the TVs I considered purchasing to replace my 10 year old Samsung, the Sony Bravia 8 had, by far, the best picture and sound. The only word to describe the Bravia 8’s picture is “stunning”. The fine definition, clarity and truly vivid colors put it in a class by itself. The sound is surprisingly good for a flat panel TV. I also purchased a Bravia 8 sound bar and Sony SW5 subwoofer. This combination of picture and sound creates a truly movie theater like experience.

Love the color and OLED clarity. Perfect blacks are no joke. Sometimes between scenes it looks like the TV turned off. Google platform (android tv) is king and was a consideration when getting a TV. Much cleaner and easier to navigate, which is a preference. Only complaint is the brightness which I think the Bravia ii has addressed with the new panel. Even though we are in a semi-bright room it does struggle a little with indirect sunlight from and adjacent window, but surely still watchable. Covers for the back panel ports are a really nice touch. Upscaling content to 4k content is unmatched with Sonys XR processing, period.

Amazing! I'm blown away at the screen quality. This is my second Sony and first 65 inch and OLED! Never going back. Holy moly this makes watching tv series and movies fun. I have it connected to my Sonos so can't speak of the speaker quality on the tv. My previous Sony tv speakers were lacking hence the Sonos. TV remote is a little smaller than previous but everything still feels natural as does the home screen. I did the $199 delivery and thought my guys were great but felt this is overpriced after the service was complete. $99 makes more sense.

I would recommend this to a friend
