This is replacing my Denon x3600. This is a big unit and it definitely packs a punch. The bass is much more meaty but also refined. Everything just sounds better and the proprietary 360 spatial sound has to be experienced.

APP is basic could be better but not necessary (web 10.144.1.200 has full setup including remote = easier to use IP vs remote) ____ (used with a90k and ubpm800) _____1st and last AVR (SONY ES For life) ES AVR alone is 5x better for BT (CURRENT soundsrd sounds better without the need for a subwoofer due to DSEE = not intended design but perfect) ____ also setup as a 2.0.2 with Core speakers/atmos (planning @ sony SA-RS5 & SA-SW5 = FULL 4.1.4 SETUP) = core speakers alone sound crystal clear but will require a subwoofer

So far pretty darn good receiver. Sounds great. Looks great. And it’s only missing pre puts. But if you don’t need it. It’s perfect. Take your time setting up the sound to the room and you should be very happy as well. It was the least expensive for the features and sound quality you can get that also can bi-amp my front speakers and still have atmos height for my fronts as well. Love it.

I am way over surprised with the power in this receiver. Wow, super powerful and an awesome theater experience. This replaced a Denon receiver. Which worked well but would never have the punch that this Sony does! I absolutely love this, the theater experience is well with the upgrade.

Excellent receiver. My only complaint is that it does not have a sleep timer.

Easy install. Screen is very difficult to read. Not as impressed as I'd hoped. Definitely better than my Pioneer!! My DT speakers don't light up like they did before. No auto detect regarding the content...which is extremely disappointing considering today's tech.

I originally bought this receiver a few months back, but it failed on me. Shortly after receiving the unit, I turned it on one day and I heard a “pop”. I didnt think too much about it, until I started hearing buzzing noise randomly coming from my speakers. Sometimes it was the fronts, sometimes it was the center speaker. Everything was good up until that popping sound from inside the receiver. Obviously I returned the unit. I did reconsider giving it another chance and I just purchased it again along with new speakers. So far its working great. Its paired up with the Kef LS50Meta for front and center and Kef KUBE 8 for subwoofer. I like the Kef LS50 because its 8 ohms and doesnt require a lot of power. I dont like a lot of bass, so the Kube 8 adds just enough bass without rattling the walls. One thing I really like about this receiver is that I can use the Sony RS5s wireless speakers as surrounds. They work, nothing fantastic, but they randonly loose the RF signal. I dont know if thats a receiver issue or a speaker issue. Other than that, it works really good with xbox, ps5 and apple tv. The onscreen menu is nice and very easy to navigate. A few things i wish it had, preouts and a brighter display. Even on the brightest display setting, its still dark, c’mon Sony. The other good thing is that, unlike Marantz and Denon, this receiver stays pretty cool.

      Hi Wayne,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're truly sorry for the issues you had with the previous STRAZ3000ES Receiver that ended up in you returning the unit, at the same time, we are happy to hear your satisfied with the set of speakers you paired it with!

To address the concern about the SA-RS5 loosing the RF signal. try resetting them by disconnecting the AC adaptor from the AC outlet, then press and hold OPTIMIZE for more than 10 seconds, pair them again and make sure they're up to date when re-pairing to the receiver, consider they have to be within 8 feet when pairing.

About the display being dark even at the maximum, we value your feedback and we'll pass it along to improve our products. About preouts, it does have. You can connect external power amplifiers and subwoofers using the PRE OUT jacks on the rear panel of the receiver. Additionally, the receiver features ZONE 2/ZONE 3 AUDIO OUT jacks for flexible audio setup in different zones. Hope you'll find this helpful and thanks for choosing Sony!
