Customers have good things to say about the sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, and ease of use of the STRDH190 stereo receiver. Many appreciate its affordable price and the inclusion of a phono input for turntables. While some users mentioned the bass could be improved, and the volume control could be more refined, the overall feedback is overwhelmingly positive. The receiver's compact size and straightforward setup are also frequently praised.

Speaking as a self-described "audiophile" (but a true audiophile with deep pockets would likely laugh), this was one of the best gifts I've given to myself in recent years (as I have a fairly large music library of nearly 600 albums of 1/3 vinyl, 2/3 CDs and some cassettes).
Bought mine back in March--used to be $200, but when I saw it for $150 any hesitation went out the window and I grabbed it. I have been in love with it ever since. Fabulous sound and power (do you really need more than 100 watts per channel?), great remote control (not used to that, believe it or not), and it lives up to Sony quality. Powers my vintage components perfectly:
> MCS Series 6202 Belt-Driven Turntable (had it since early 80s)
> Nacamichi BX-300 Cassette Deck
> Sony DVP-NS725P Disc Player (DVD but used mainly for CDs - audio-only connection)
> LG TV connected via optical-to-analog adapter
> KEF Reference Series 103/3 Stereo Speakers
Interesting observation about the way the ports are labeled on the back: what would traditionally be identified as a tape deck port (with IN/OUT) is just "Input 4," and while it's connected to my tape deck for playback, the REC-OUT is connected to a USB audio adapter to digitally record anything (mostly vinyl of course) to my laptop for mastering and iPod/digital library access.
The Bluetooth connectivity is awesome as well with powerful range - great for playing music from mobile devices (phone and iPod Classic with BT adapter). The front line-in 3.5 port, identified as a "Portable" is also a great feature.
At first, I was surprised that there was no input for optical, however since digital-to analog adapters are inexpensive and readily available, I think it's best to leave it that way. Would rather have the option, rather than an optical-only port that would otherwise go unused unless one had a component that required it.
HOWEVER, if I were to make any improvements, it would be to add a USB Out port (preferably on the front), for digital recording on a PC. However again, since adapters are inexpensive and accessible, and for the price I paid for this device, I ain't gonna complain. Front level analog balance, bass and treble controls would also be nice, but you have access to all that through the menu.
If you feel due for a simple, powerful and awesome stereo receiver/amplifier upgrade without breaking your monthly budget, this is a winner.

Typical Sony Quality - Sound Quality is Excellent. AND when used with a higher bit rate Internet Stream (Amazon Music/ Apple Music) the sound is deeper and clearer which is to be expected from "High-Resolution Audio" NOW the facts: 2-Ch. Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth & Phono Input for Turntables - Black. 4 2 channel inputs. 100 Watts - 8 Ohms Get good speakers and you will really appreciate them with this unit.

Yes, it's only two-channel. But that's what makes it perfect for going back to one's youth by listening to all the saved and carefully preserved stereo albums. Yes, I have all of my ORIGINAL records from when I was in high school and college. And I'm retired now, so that gives you an idea...Lol.
This unit has the ALL IMPORTANT phono input for playing records...and the grounding terminal to prevent hum and feedback. It also has four additional RCA phono input sets and a buetooth in put as well for connecting to mobile devices. FM only but who listens to talk radio anymore, anyway?
The stereo sound is quite good for those of us who aren't audiphiles, and the volume steps per Sony's standard goes from "1" to "50" I rarely have it set below 10 or higher than 35. Through my large Pioneer uprights...plenty loud.
The case is something of a Sony standard size, as it seems to be the same size as the Sony six-channel receiver it replaced. That unit was at least fifteen years old when I replaced it...there's something to be said about continuity of size...you don't have to rearrange your "stack" to accomodate a different size component.
I paired this with an Audio-Technica turntable and all is right in my audio world again. :) ;) <3 <3 <3

Hi SkyeK56, Thank you for this amazing and detailed review of your STRDH190! Good to know you like the sound quality, inclusion of phone input for your record player as well as 4 RCA audio input and Bluetooth feature. And whether you choose to enjoy the warm sound of vinyl via the phono input, or stream music from your digital music collection, you’ve found a perfect match. Don’t forget the receiver’s A=B function lets you connect two pairs of speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use them all together at the same time. When you factor in the low-profile design, we’re sure you’ve found the flexibility and performance you’ve been looking for! Thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam

I purchased a pair of Sony Core bookshelf speakers with a Sony STRDH190 stereo receiver originally for my home office. I have since relocated the system to my bedroom. For a budget receiver, it's really nice. I'll point out a few things I like about this receiver. One, it has built-in bluetooth. I can easily pair it with my iPhone and stream music. It also has plenty of inputs, including an 1/8" PORTABLE IN mini jack on the front that allows you to make an easy wired connection to your phone or computer. That saves you from having to get a flashlight and reach behind the receiver to make the connection. It's a nice convenience option. The remote is excellent too. I also appreciate the moderate size and weight of the receiver, which makes it easy to lift. My Sony Core bookshelf speakers sound great with this receiver. I've had this Sony receiver and Sony Core speakers for more than two years, and have had zero issues. Thumbs up!

It was very surprising to hear the sound quality from this cheap Sony receiver. Very nice sounding that’s better than my higher end Denon 7.2 channel AVR.
Bluetooth hookup is instantaneous with my iPhone 7 and receiver turns on automatically when I touch it’s name. Best sound quality is achieved with RCA connection and clean setup with minimal cable interference from interconnects.
Remote is very functional and simple which makes it so much easier to manage.
Very powerful amp at 100W per channel which easily drives my Polk Monitor 70’s at loud volumes. I made a very clean hookup using monster gold connectors and cables. Speaker toe in with rubber isolation. Sounds clean and audiophile quality.
Radio has 30 stations preset. Very clear reception. Looks like Sony engineers made a serious effort to get back into the audio market once more.
I highly recommend this. You won’t regret this purchase.

It’s great, for the new home office. Listen to steaming music all day, when not on phone with co- workers. Bluetooth works great with cell phone. Getting new speakers for Xmas, currently have my 15+ year old Pioneers hooked up to it. The stereo sound is much better than the one rechargeable blue tooth speaker that I’ve about wore out. Book and receiver are easy to read and not much to setup, unless you want to program the input names or radio stations. But the book is very simple and clear to do those. Remote is nice and simple to use, figure out. Sale price at Best Buy was $99 in late Nov., 2020.

I had a magnificent Onkyo multimedia receiver a friend gave me, but the thing sucked power and put off heat like you wouldn't believe. We have a small house, and it was just too much for the space. I had been looking for something, and based on most of the reviews, a couple of tech reviews in particular, I decided this was the unit I needed. I was not wrong. I have a pair of restored Advent Legacy, a pair of JBL 4206 studio monitors, and a Polk Audio 10 inch subwoofer. The sound is very clean, and the 100 watts per channel is plenty of power for our small space. It doesn't matter whether the source is flac files from the computer, or an LP on the turntable, the sound is crisp and sweet. I am nothing but happy with the purchase. The fact that it was on sale when I purchased it was just honey on the muffin.

I bought this to replace a remote controlled Sony receiver that finally died after 35 years. I chose this model because it included a phono input, which works very well. Setting up the tuner on this one is more difficult because it lacks a numeric keypad on the remote, so you just have to cycle up and down the frequencies and save the ones you want as presets. You can save up to 30 of them, I think, but only 3 can be directly accessed via buttons on the remote; the rest have to be reached by moving up and down your saved presets. It’s a bit of a nuisance, but I pretty much focus on only 3 stations anyway, so I don’t really mind. The unit comes with a rudimentary FM wire antenna but lacks a coax antenna input, and there is no AM tuner at all. It has a reasonable number of device inputs, including Bluetooth, but only 1 line output, and as far as I can tell, no Bluetooth output (but I could be wrong about that). It doesn’t handle video at all, so you have to choose a different model if you want something to control a home theater system, but that’s not what I wanted and this unit meets my needs fairly well overall. I used to rely on the AM tuner of my old unit to switch among radio stations for traffic reports before my morning commute, but fortunately I’m now retired and can mostly do without AM, though I wish it was still included. Sound quality seems okay to my not-very-critical ears. All in all I’d recommend this receiver despite its limitations.

Open box special saved me a little on this receiver, but would gladly buy it at full price.
Paired it with an Audio Technica turntable and a pair of Sony SS-F6000 Floorstanding 4-Way Speakers and it sounds awesome. Better than anything I’ve ever heard before.
Even playing music from my iPhone through Bluetooth sounds 100x better And a few FM channels I’ve listened to rock.
Would buy this Sony receiver again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just purchased the Sony STR DH190 stereo receiver to replace my old Yamaha that finally crapped out. Set up was a piece of cake. I have my turntable, cassette deck, CD player, and 8 track player all connected. I also have a sonos connect connected so I can access my amazon, apple, sirius, pandora and other digital music. I have the receiver connected to my original Polk Audio Monitor 10's. I have that combined with a couple of Sonos Play 5's and it sounds like I'm back at L'Amours Brooklyn in 1984 watching Raven and Exciter! Black Sabbath and Priest never sounded so good crankin' through this receiver! Very happy with the purchase! Oh yeah and for $98 dollars it was a complete steal!

I added a couple of nice Sony speakers and hooked up my turntable. It sounds awesome. RCA to my tv and Bluetooth to my phone. It’s everything I need to make my living room a powerful and nice entertainment environment. I will add another set of speaker to fully use it’s capabilities. It’s a steal if you compare others, not only a great receiver in terms of quality and sturdy built the will last forever.
Oh and don’t forget it has a phono amp built in, which works a lot better than the ones in most turntables

I was looking for an inexpensive receiver with a phono input for use in my basement listening room. I ordered this. It far exceeded my expectations. This is a very heavy unit indicating a robust power supply to feed the output stages. The phono input is very clean and sounds wonderful connected to my vintage Akai turntable with an Audio-Technica Elliptical stylus. I would rate it right up there with my Onkyo received/Rega turntable pair upstairs. I am also feeding it with a early 80’s Sony cassette deck and a Sony CD/DVD player. Everything works as expected. I didn’t buy it for the Bluetooth capability, but it was easy to pair with my phone and sounds good streaming as well. If you are looking for a reasonably priced receiver with a phono input, look no further.

I'm currently refinishing a record room in my home and wanted a new receiver for it. I was unsure if this inexpensive receiver would be good enough, but decided to try it. This receiver exceeded all my expectations. It drives my 1985 ohm Walsh speakers perfectly. Listening to my records in pure direct mode using my Sony 1000XM3 NC headphones in wired mode is nothing short of magical. I have never heard better stereo sound from any of the many, much more expensive receivers I have owned over the past 40 plus years.

I purchased this wondering if 100 watts x 2 would power my large 40 year old Xfinity speakers,. They have 12 inch woofers with separate mid and tweeters. To my delight playing at higher volumes it didn't even break a sweat as the unit was only slightly warm. Bluetooth paired instantly to my phone and tablet for unlimited online listening pleasure. The FM sounds good with great reception. I also liked the ability to switch to a second set of speakers for my outdoor deck. Don't hesitate to buy this because it's Sony quality at a bargain price!
