But, the plastic canister has began to crack toward the base. We keep the humidifier in a stationary position and it’s easy to fill so I know this is no user error. These cracks have also began to spread and leak so we are no longer able to use this item.

So far this Winix-L200 has been a pleasant experience. I ordered it because it doesn’t have filters to either clean or replace. Also it looks nice. I have tried the essential oil tray too and it’s not over powering. All said I would suggest this model to friends and family.

Posted .Hello Kay, the bottom which has the plug connectivity is supposed to not come with when you pick up by the handle. That gives you the ease to just take the bucket to a sink to fill up. The unit will have lights on in the front indicating it is on and a mist will be coming from the top. My room is approximately 180sqft and this unit is definitely capable of raising the humidity in there. It is very easy to maintain and for my purposes, 2 gallons is enough water to last 3/4 days with constant use. Thus far, no leaks and the unit functions properly including the warm mist function. Just be aware that the warm mist will take time to build up temperature. My biggest recommendation would be to use distilled water with any humidifier, not just this one. It eliminates the concern for mold/mildew build up and also avoids the "white dust" complaint many people have that use tap/bottle/filter water in their units. I did not give this 5 stars because the humidity gauge is not accurate. I have a calibrated hygrometer in my room and, for example, if I set the winix to 55% my gauge will read 65-70%. It always oversaturates the room but I combat this by either lowering the target humidity % OR lowering the mist output.
