Let LG’s 2-in-1 WashCombo do the heavy lifting. Run a complete wash and dry cycle in as fast as 2 hours, without having to transfer clothes from washer to dryer.¹ One appliance does it all—with a space-saving, go-anywhere ventless design. Among the largest capacity combo models available, it can fit your larger loads including a king-size comforter.² As this machine is among the industry’s most energy efficient combos, you’ll use up to 60% less energy with every load.³ Plus, our built-in intelligence and intuitive LCD dial make it easy to get laundry day dialed in so you can load, set and go.
A: The unit does sense the load and makes adjustments to the drying time, which is a thoughtful feature. However, there were a few instances where it underestimated the drying time, leading me to run an additional dry-only cycle to ensure my items were fully dry. One notable point from the manual is that it recommends having both cold and hot water connections. However, during operation, you have the flexibility to instruct the machine to use only cold water if that better suits your preferences or needs.
A: It's crucial to delve into the fine print – the advertised two-hour cycle is designed for a 10lb load. In my experience, it did live up to the two-hour timeframe for a large handful, but when fully loaded, the process extends to around 4 hours. Now, when it comes to towels, it's an entirely different story. Loading the unit with towels resulted in a staggering 7-hour wait for the entire load to dry. While I anticipated a longer duration for bulkier items, I must admit being disappointed by the significant amount of time it took. As a user with this set situated on my upper floor, and with my standard set located in the basement, I've decided to reserve the use of this washer/dryer combo for regular laundry loads. For towels, I'll be relying on my trusty regular washer and gas dryer due to their more efficient drying times.
A: The unit does come with an automatic dispenser feature, but the cool thing is, you can switch it off either directly on the machine or through the app. If you're into Tide Pods, you can go that route, though it might not be as stellar in performance – totally your call. And, just a heads up, fabric sheets might not do their usual magic here since they usually thrive on hot air, and this machine focuses more on pulling moisture from the air without the heat element. Now, about its capacity, I've tossed in a king-size comforter, and it can handle it. But, brace yourself for a patience-testing 7-hour wash and dry session, and even then, you might find a few areas that are not bone-dry. In my experience, it seems like it's optimized for everyday stuff like shirts, socks, and pants. It can tackle towels and larger items if you're okay with investing a considerable amount of time, and there's a chance they might not come out completely dry.
A: Regarding the suggestion by LG to purchase a stacking kit, it's my understanding that there's a top-side lint trap that needs regular cleaning. So the stacking would block access to this lint trap. Would someone from LG please verify this. If so, you should delete the LG response that suggests these units can be stacked. Thank you.
Q: Where does the heat go if it does not have a vent. Will it make the room real humid and hot?
A: The heat pump heats the laundry to dry it, while cooling the resulting humid air, causing the water to precipitate out as liquid into a catch basin, which is then pumped out through the washer drain line. So there is no humid air released anywhere.
A: The door is NOT reversible, LG sidekick pedestal that fits this unit would be the 27 inch wide version
Q: What voltage does it need, and is it a regular plug like for household without 220?
A: Thank you for your interest in the LG Washer/Dryer (WM6998HBA) model. The LG WM6998HBA washer/dryer combo operates on 120 volts. It uses a regular household plug, so it does not require 220 volts. You can download its owner's manual through this link for more information: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-WM6998HBA.ABLEEUS. ^Cris
A: Absolutely. It does a great job at doing quick washes also (super energy efficient as a washer). For every cycle you can choose whether you want to dry or not (or energy save dry for some cycles). I will say the machine is best if you change laundry mindset from "marathons" to daily/every other day "set it and forget it" overnight, so you can take advantage of heat pump efficiency drying (4x as efficient as resistive heater).

I'd like to provide a detailed review of the washer/dryer set I recently purchased for my upper floor, aiming to eliminate the need for constant trips up and down the stairs to my basement set. Before diving into the specifics, a few key points need to be addressed. To start, it's important to note that this review is entirely unbiased, as I paid for the product in full. There were no incentives or sponsorships from Best Buy or LG, ensuring an honest evaluation. Regarding installation, I strongly recommend considering the $29.99 installation service. The unit weighs a substantial 250lbs, and even with two fully-equipped adults, handling it without professional assistance can be quite challenging. Moving on to the positive aspects, the aesthetics of the set are fantastic. Placing it on my upper floor, where it's visible to anyone passing through, required a sleek design – a requirement that this set fulfills admirably. The user interface is user-friendly, with a simple wheel on the display for mode selection. Adjustments for temperature, spin, and soil level are easily made through button presses next to the display, with clear LED indicators. Importantly, you don't have to rely on the app, as all settings can be configured directly on the washer. For those who prefer using the app, pairing is effortless. The LG ThinQ app guides you through the process, making it as simple as scanning a QR code inside the door. The app provides convenient control, allowing you to monitor progress and make adjustments without physically being near the washer. An unexpected but pleasant feature is the interior light, allowing you to observe your load as it runs. However, it turns off when using the app, assuming you're not present – a minor inconvenience. The capacity is impressive, easily accommodating an entire laundry basket's worth of items. The built-in reservoirs for soap and softener are convenient, letting you set usage preferences for each load. In terms of noise, this washer operates quietly – significantly quieter than my standard basement washer. It's so quiet that you could comfortably sleep next to it during the spin cycle. Now, addressing the washing performance, it matches up well with our standard basement washer. The automatic dispensing system may even result in less soap and softener usage over time. Moving on to drying, it's essential to manage expectations. While it dries clothes to the same level as a standard dryer, it takes longer. The advertised two-hour cycle holds true for smaller loads, but a full laundry basket may take around four hours. For towels or comforters, expect a drying time of 6-7 hours. In conclusion, this set is perfect for upper-level laundry needs, offering the convenience of avoiding trips to the basement. However, for larger items like towels and comforters, the extended drying time is a trade-off. We'll still use our basement set for these items due to its faster drying time and cost efficiency with a gas-powered dryer.

Overall everything works great. We lived in a small house and don’t have any vent for a dryer hose so, we got this beautiful beast. Save on electricity and very quiet compare to the washer we had. It’s very convenient and easy to use. A lot of space for this beast.

I have no problem giving this unit 5 stars right off the bat. Does this washer dryer combo clean your clothes, yes very well. Most clothes are very dry, sometimes blue jeans are a little damp around the belt line, towels, sheets almost everything else is totally dry. These combo machines require a few minutes a week for maintenance, you must be diligent about cleaning up the lint to get the best efficiency, it's no big deal and only took 10 minutes. The new machine smell was pretty bad the first load or 2 so we started to use the downy pellets, after about 10 loads the smell is all but gone. This unit has been nice most large loads are finished in under 3 hours. We really like this washer dryer combo, frees up space in the laundry room, you don't have to switch clothes to the dryer, all in all it took a little experimenting with different settings to find the sweet spot but we are happy and glad we made the purchase. The dry time may seem long but the energy savings are worth it.
