Most 500 series motherboards have to have a bios update, but most of them have Q flash capability which make it easier (ive done this by just downloading the bios update from motherboard manufacturer and putting it on a thumb drive). Some motherboards even have a Q flash button on the board itself which is very convenient. To be safe though, check in your boards manual, there will almost certainly be instructions on how to update the bios.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My x570 tomahawk bought in Nov 2020 didn't have the latest compatible BIOS (Nov release). However it was extra easy to flash with only a usb key without CPU or anything, just the PSU connected at it.

If you're buying a brand new motherboard then the chances are that you will receive a board with a current BIOS version on it and it will work, unless you purchase from a vendor that has older stock on hand.
