The Asus RT-AC88U does not have a built in modem. But it is a great router overall with lots of features. You could always turn your current modem into a bridge and just use a new router. At CES this year Asus did announce that they will be coming out with a model that has a built in cable modem. I think the model will be called CM-32 AC2600 but then again that is just for people with cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it's just a router no modem
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is a router not a modem or modem plus router. You have these confused. Your carrier provides the modem unless you buy one that is on their list you can use. Always better to have modem and router separate. So to answer this is just a router and not a modem. Will it work with the modem. Yes. If your carrier provides a modem with built in router - call them - have them put in bridge mode and then you can use this. But this router has issues. I bought and took back. The Asus 68U had better signal, ping and less connectivity issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No there is no DSL build in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Routers do not come with Modens only when your actual provider supplies them to you, like Fios as an example. Also in general you need to use their routers because they use the system for their TV/ DVR network communications system. They use STB systems to link there DVRs and IP Boxes. You can piggy back your Asus Router from theirs and shut down their wireless network you can use your router as an Access Point or you can give it a diferent IP and use it as a Wireless router mode. I also ahve a AC3100 in the system and 2 Viao 5GHZ
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This doesn't have a modem. This doesn't have a place to plug in a phone line into. You will need a modem that will talk to CenturyLink. If you have a 12Mbps or faster connection through CenturyLink, you will need a VDSL modem. There's a VDSL netgear ac1900 for $250 which is going to give you what you need.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you wanna save $30 and dont need all 8 ethernet ports then grab the RT-AC3100, its the identical router as the 88U but it has 4 ethernet ports instead of the 88U's 8. But to answer your question, the 88U is just a router, you need a separate modem. If your with century link, I'd recommend the Arris SB6141, it has the speed and the price is very competitive.
