• After many attempts, used dental floss & tweezers To pull loop through the slot...very difficult!

• Followed John's advice above and used dental floss - managed to do it without tweezers but it was fiddly. It took me about 45 minutes. Are you reading this, Canon? That's 45 min. of my life that I won't get back...

• I had the same problem. I finally straightened out a small paperclip and used it to hook and help pull the loop end of the strap through the opening. Just be careful not to scratch the camera.
