A:AnswerIf you are trying to get into photography, I would save the money and get the SX530 or SX60 as a stepping stone to a DSLR EOS series or better. This camera is good for about the 15-20 foot range at most, digital zoom leaves a little to be desired and is not the fastest shutter speed by any means.

A:AnswerThe overall case is either metal or hard plastic. The retractable lens cover is plastic and you have to be careful not to put it in too much. I have been able to pull it back out if that happens. I've not tried many night photos...sorry.
