After google aquired them and have changed the ecosystem to google home, they have come out with the new camera. Basically the same thing. Same functionality etc. But the only difference is the old cameras work in both the nest app and google home app. The new cameras only work in the google home app.

On-device processing also gives our customers intelligent alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. Nest Cam (indoor, wired) has a 2MP sensor, 135-degree field of view and 1080p video with HDR (High Dynamic Range) that’s optimized for the clearest possible view both day and night. Nest Cam Indoor (black) only offers motion alerts without a subscription. It does not offer Familiar Faces, animal or vehicle alerts. Activity Zones require a Nest Aware subscription. Nest Cam Indoor has a 3MP sensor, 130-degree field of view and 1080p video but does not support HDR video. You’ll need the Nest app to guide you through setup and installation. After setup in the Nest app, you can add your Nest camera to your home in the Home app. This lets you control your camera and other compatible connected devices (like a smart bulb or Google speaker) in the same place.
