• A:Answer It means that the full function of the keyboard only works with Apple Silicon macs. I just bought it, connected it to my 2017 Intel MacBook Pro, and the keyboard works great. The only function of the keyboard that doesn't work with non-Apple Silicon macs is the Touch ID built into the keyboard.

Q: QuestionI have a Logitech and turning off backlighting greatly extends the battery life, but there is no Touch ID in the Logitech. Does the Apple Magic keyboard have key backlighting? Can it be enabled/disabled as needed? Thanks

• A:Answer I purchased a TouchID keyboard to use with the new 16" MBP that has TouchID. While the answer is yes, the keyboard will work with any Apple Silicon Mac that supports TouchID, I have found some apps do not support TouchID with the lid closed. I have a password manager that falls into this category, that works when the lid is open, but not closed. When I contacted the author, I was told I have to wait for a new version that will have this support. Something to be aware of.

• A:Answer No, the keyboards are designed to work with APPLE SILICON as it says on the description - so that means with M chips. Not with Intel. It won't work with older Mac devices with Intel chips either according to the information provided. When Apple was ONLY using INTEL chips then the old ones will work but the old ones don't have the TOUCH ID feature.

I just got mine a few days ago Compatibility iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation) iPad Air (5th generation) iPad Air (4th generation) It definitely doesn't work with intel Mac Minis. What I do see is this info: "Apple reuses its product names often, which can make this especially confusing when trying to buy a new Magic Keyboard. Out of the three Magic Keyboard models above, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro might sometimes just be referred to as a Magic Keyboard. As a result, here are the key differences to look for: --the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro includes a function row of keys at the top of the keyboard for changing controls like volume and brightness --the standard Magic Keyboard does not include that function row, so the top row of keys is the number row Finding your iPad device model If you’re unsure which model your iPad is, there’s a quick way to find out.
