The specs should read 27.5" deep, 27" wide. I've got the washing machine in my home. It would be 27" X 27" but there is a metal panel on the back of the machine that sticks out 1/2".

Answer

The 27" depth seems to correspond only to the body frame of the washer. There are a couple of "panels" attached to the rear frame that protrudes round another 1/2".
