This printer is THE college printer. I am a grad school student and have limited space, but need resources printed and this was PERFECT! and the price point was really good too!! I love the look and cleanliness of the printer, and i can’t even describe how easy it is to set up and use with the app. You can print, fax, scan documents all from your phone!! I definitely would recommend being gentle with it because I worry that one drop on the floor and it’s dead, but if you take good care of it, it seems to run really well!

I am really happy with my printer. I have a small apartment and was able to place it on a small shelf near my work desk. It is really compact and I like that it has a nice blue light on the front. It also has a chime that sounds when it is done printing. The pictures come out flawless and 4x6 photos are free to print when enrolled in the HP Instant Ink. I have printed almost 100 pages and a few photos and still have plenty of ink in the setup cartridge. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the scanner app is a bit of a hassle to use.

I like the HP approach to make a printer that is basically made for portable devices. As everybody know now, most of us (people) are using portable devices (phones and tablets...) more than wired devices like desktops. Most of the time when you get one of these wifi enabled printer, you may still need the help of a computer to do most of the tasks (installations, management, ... etc) With this Tango printer from HP all the functions can be done easily using your portable device. I used my iPHone X to setup this one. The iOS recognized that I am trying to add a device to the network. It took care of it for me automatically. I didn't even had to enter my WiFi password or anything. After installing the app, I was able to check the printer status, change and modify the settings, print photos from my phone and also use some camera related functions like scanning and making copy. The file explorer for the printer can retrieve printable materials from your phone or from other on the cloud services (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, ...) Printing speed was fairly fast (tried couple images) with very good quality on regular paper type. The good thing about this printer (I was surprised) that it also support Instant Ink program. I have another HP printer (Envy 4520) that I am using with Instant ink for years now. It helps not worrying about ordering/buying ink supplies. I am not fan of Alexa, Siri or Google voice commands. I am kind of old school. I bet somebody would like to have this feature on their devices. I am sure I will be messing with them later this weekend. I like to be on the updated side. In summary: Small package (acceptable size for a printer), nice design (user friendly), relatively a quite printing and fully compatible with mobile devices. Old style printers (not supporting mobile devices) will become obsolete soon I guess. It would be perfect, for this Tango, if it was completely wireless... No power cord required unless for charging.

    Awesome Easy to Setup Printer

If you're looking for a small printer, that's semi-portable, prints great quality pictures and documents, and has a great app experience, buy this one! I unboxing was an experience in itself. This printer is really nice looking, and is packed very well! It comes with two ink cartridges (black & color), and a bottom tray that stores the printed paper tray neatly underneath. Setup was a breeze! All you need to do is install the HP app (scan the QR code on the inside of the box for a quick link launch), plug the printer in and power it on(don't need to have the cartridges in yet), and then connect the printers broadcasted WiFi connection (shows up as HP Tango and some numbers). Once powered on, you'll see a nice light show from the LED lights hidden behind the front casing, and hear some light audible tones. The LED's won't blind you, and the tones aren't loud enough to be annoying, just sound like a relaxing chime (you just have to hear it). If you have an iOS 12 (not sure about 11) device for the setup, your iPhone will actually walk you through the "Accessory Setup" and connect the printer to your WiFI network with a push of the button. Once the accessory setup is done, you can use the HP App, hit "Add Printer" and it connects quickly! You can see the status of your printer, and adjust settings from within the app (such as renaming it). What I really liked, was when I launched Google Chrome browser on my Mac, it immediately identified that the printer was Google Cloud ready! When I confirmed my desire to register it, the printer printed an instruction sheet, and the panel on top of the printer began to display some indicator lights. You just have to tap the "i" button when prompted. This printer was very well thought out and designed. It's one of the smallest, quickest, and nicest printers I've ever owned. It is just a printer, with a great experience, so don't expect to use it as an All In One. This is great for minimal documents, or avid photo printing! If you're looking at this wondering, is it worth it! Yes it is!

The Tango printer is small with a very minimalist, clean-looking case. The only things in the box are the printer, ink cartridges, power cord.and 3 info. cards; a quick start guide, a guide to what the different-colored lights on the printer mean and setup info for the automatic ink ordering feature. There is no traditional software to load but you do have to install the HP Smart app on every device that you want to print from. At least I think so. The app guides the setup process. With the app installed I first opened an email on my iPhone and tried to print and it went right through. Next test was a word document on my PC. The computer couldn’t find the Tango even though they were on the same Wi-Fi network. I went to the Microsoft store and downloaded and installed the HP Smart app onto my PC and the document was able to print with no issues. It’s a bit annoying to have to use an app to access the printer settings but it’s the only way as there are no buttons on the Tango except for “power” and “WI-FI”. Not really a big deal, just different than I’m used to. Print quality is good and with the app installed on 2 iPhones, 3 iPads and 2 PC’s every device was able to print to the Tango. The Tango doesn’t have a scanner bed but you’re supposed to be able to scan by taking pictures of what you want to scan and sending it to the Tango, which then converts them to PDF but that’s not something I will do. I’ll stick with my dedicated scanner as there are better saving/formatting options available. I appreciate the size and look of the Tango and the app, while a tad inconvenient to install on ALL devices that will need printing capabilities, is simple to use and allows access to all settings and function options. It’s probably a good deal as the monthly charge seems very reasonable at $2.99 for 50 pages/month up to $9.99 for 300 pages/month but I declined to enter the Instant Ink program. I’ll buy ink as needed instead of a monthly subscription as my printing needs vary greatly from month to month. All in all, the Tango is a lot of printer in a small package and will certainly meet the needs of most home/home office users. 1 star off for no function buttons on the printer, app install on every device and lack of instructions. I know the instructions are available online and some users appreciate the app-only function control but call me old fashioned.

First apartment with the GF and we finally gave in and purchased a printer. But we did not want just any printer. It had to look good in our space and be functional — and it does just that! Perfect for printing out resumes really quickly and cute photos were made for Christmas cards of our ferrets!

I have to say that my wife and I both LOVE this printer. It was extremely easy to set up and is so compact that we were able to put it down in an empty shelf in our reading room. However, it’s got an extremely handsome design that’s very minimal. Honestly, it’s so sleek that I’d almost prefer to have it sitting out somewhere since it’s so aesthetically pleasing. Setup does require you to download the HP Smart app. However, once you’ve completed setup, you can delete the app and still use the printer through AirPrint on Apple devices. I can’t confirm whether or not that’s the case with Android devices. I would highly highly recommmend this printer. We just got a much more expensive printer from a different brand that has been terribly unreliable (always loses connection with our network). This printer was a breath of fresh air. Good work HP.

This is my second wireless printer that i own. My other is for office use, so this one is primarily for photos. First of all let me say that knowing my past experience with wifi printers my hopes were low for a positive experience. With that being said, this printer is solid. Before i get too far into the technical review of this printer i need to say how impressed i was with the unboxing. I felt as if i was opening a treasure chest. It gave me a real positive start to the visuals. The companion app that is to be used with this printer is a piece of cake to use. Select, print, done. Literally 2 steps. The app is truly an all in one when it comes to functionality of this printer. The design of the products is compact, super compact. The printer alone is only about 3 inches thick, this impressed me immensely. My old printer is the size of a dishwasher. Comparing the nearly side by side was quite eye opening... how far the technology has come in the past ~8 years. The only real gripe i had about the printer was that i felt as though the material it was constructed out was on the flimsy side. I must note that it has not fallen apart or anything like that, but the plastic does seem a little light weight.. but then again that might be a good thing depending how you look at it. All in worth picking up due to its ease of use and compact design

Wow! This smart printer is cutting edge, every single feature in it works perfectly. Compact size, paper tray, indication light, power brick is eleminated finally, printer app on smartphone is well created and responsive. I like the idea of being free of having my phone or tablet or computer connected to the same local wifi in order to order print and take advantage of features of the printer. HP came up with this smart compact printer to eliminate all the headache where I can print from anywhere at no limits. I tested it by turning off my wifi on my iPhone and select print from anywhere and just like that “done” magically and also I can scan documents or pictures from its application on smartphone that allows the smartphone camer to open up and do the scanning and send it to printer directly, Also I like the design of the app is friendly designed and easy to use. HP printer icon shows the status of where you are printing from whether its local wifi or cloud based “anywhere” so happy with this smarty printer.

HP Tango: I’m probably like a lot of people in the ways I use my printer. I often want to directly print from my phone/tablet. I don’t want to think about the process or whether the ink level is adequate. I want my recipes, or directions, or photos of my family . . . now. The HP is a success for me. It has SMART features (Voice Activation via Alexa/Google/Cortana, Print/Scan from anywhere), which I didn’t find necessary for my purpose, but you may find useful. In the final analysis, the HP manages to be sensible, practical, convenient, and attractive . . . all while generating great looking photos and documents. SETUP: EASY. The directions are on one heavy stock card, and a (simple) 2 page brochure. Plug in, turn on, download the APP for your phone (Google or Apple) and the LED colors on the front of the Tango let you know where you are in the process. I also installed my printer on my MacBook Pro (OS10.13) with no difficulty. After I finished the printer prep, everything went well. Paper feed is the more reliable gravity feed, which should minimize paper jams or misses. I had one misfeed, and a printer icon notified me. The printer knew which page needed to be reprinted. PRINTING: FLEXIBLE and RELIABLE. Printing from my phone was very simple. I chose the TANGO printer after selecting which picture I want printed. I EDIT (crop / color, etc) in my photo App first, before sending to the printer. You can directly SELECT the TANGO printer or you can select HP SMART which gives you a few more printing controls. The former appears to default to your last print setting of copies, paper size, and B&W/color. HP SMART allows you to modify copies, print quality, grayscale, paper size. and paper type. Photo printouts are fairly slow under BEST quality; standard paper (B&W) printouts are quite fast. PHOTO QUALITY: VERY GOOD. The results are pretty, colorful, frameless (up to 5x7”) photos which looked like the quality my local photo processors (pharmacies/stores). However, I can go back and apply special effects, or crop more closely, or choose to print more . . . seeing the results immediately. I used heavier, high gloss print paper to get my best photo results. Even 8.5x11” color prints were bright, contrasty, and flawless using HP’s 3-color+black system. Be mindful of the resolution of your originals . . . blowups of low resolution images will soften. Can you get better color with more expensive, multicolor (5, 8,10) ink cartridge printers? Of course, but not at this price. The Tango is so easy and reliable, it is easy to get addicted to printing out your trips, your kids (and especially grandkids). Oh, and it prints out B&W documents, full color documents, with very nice and readable text. COSTS: FLEXIBLE, maybe even a bargain. This brings us to the very interesting HP INSTANT INK supply options which help you ensure your printer is ready when you are. I’ll summarize here, and add that this is my first time seriously considering subscribing to an ink supply program. . . because it looks like it could save me money. The PRINTING PLANS: Occasional Printer, $2.99/mo (50 pages/mo and you can roll over 50 pages ); Moderate printer, $4.99/mo (100 pages/mo and you can roll over 100 pages); Frequent printer, $9.99/mo (300 pages/mo and roll over 300 pages). But, prints UNDER 5x7” from mobile devices aren’t charged against your plan!!! Let me repeat . . Photo prints up to 5x7 inches printed from your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet are free. SUMMARY. HP is the sensible, convenient, compelling printer choice in the low priced ink-jet printer category. It’s even attractive in a modern, compact, non-techy way, so it fits into any home.

HP - Tango Wireless Instant Ink Ready Printer is very easy setup. It came with printer, power card, one black and one color cartridges along with quick setup guides. I have downloaded HP smart app in app store and setup was done less than 5 mins. It automatically detected the printer and connected to home network quickly. After installing the cartridges, it automatically did the alignment. It was one of the smooth and best installation experience. During setup, it will ask to sign up HP instant ink (two month free trial if you sign up during setup) with various monthly plan options starting as low as $2.99 per month with 50 pages. You can select the plan depending upon on number of prints per month. If ink is getting low, it automatically order the ink for you which is really convenient. I like the compact size of this printer and it has very stylish look. The LED colors are very useful to indicate the status of printing. It also indicate if there is no paper in phone app as well on the printer. I have installed the software in my PC and able to print without any issues. If you print 5x7 photos, it is free and it does not count to your monthly page limit. I was able to print the document from google drive from phone. The print results are really good and i did print a photo with the samples provided with printer. I was amazed with the quality of photo print. The Tango printer is very easy to use and very convenient to print from anywhere. This is one of the best printer i have ever owned. Please sign up for HP Instant ink and you will never worry about running out ink. I highly recommend this printer for home and office use.

This looks modern and sleek on a white desk. It’s small unlike traditional printers and my 17 year old set it up and was printing within 10 minutes. Scanning (which can be used as a workaround for copying) and printing are managed through a simple app and WiFi connect is super easy! There were cheaper options. This one is worth every cent.
