The Mac Studio 2025 M4 Max is a powerhouse of a desktop, delivering exceptional single-core CPU performance, impressive AI processing capabilities, and strong efficiency for creative workflows. While it may not match dedicated NVIDIA GPUs for gaming or CUDA workloads, it excels in optimized Apple software and AI-driven applications. The seamless setup, high-speed storage, and robust build quality make it a compelling choice for professionals seeking a reliable and compact desktop solution. However, its pricing, lack of bundled peripherals, and the necessity for additional accessories could be drawbacks for some users. Overall, it is an outstanding machine for those who prioritize macOS, Apple’s ecosystem, and performance efficiency over raw GPU power. I really enjoy using mine and it seems like a very capable machine.

Greatest piece of hardware you’ll ever need for anything from professional editing to professional mixing and mastering vocals for music. This thing is a beast with my thunderbolt 5 and 3 compatibility. you can pay some CS go to to unwind and don’t get me started on the tons of options you could add to your MacBook studio that are Apple accessories, supportive exclusively for Mac. The keyboards are great and so are the mouses you will not be disappointed and realize you would’ve been wasting your whole time with the Intel computer instead of chasing your dreams and doing something productive for once I know I feel it the genius vibe, check out the setup rough wrangler

After working with a Mac Mini M1 for some time, upgrading to the Mac Studio M4 has been one of the best investments I’ve made in a long time. The performance leap is incredible, and it has completely transformed my workflow. Highly recommended for anyone looking to take their setup to the next level.

Had the mac studio for about a month now and its working well. Its confusing that the front two ports are weaker than the others. That is my only negative and its a small one. It works mostly well with my protools edits which are pretty hefty. I'm satisfied.

I would have gone with a base Mac Mini M4 but for my use case I needed multiple monitor support for trading stocks. The most I appreciate about this machine coming from a desktop AMD AM4 platform is how power efficient and quiet it is. Another huge plus is that even under load it doesn't heat up the room. I priced out building a custom small form factor PC using AMD/Intel parts and the costs would have been almost the same as just buying the Mac Studio M4 Max for the same amount of (single core) performance (my stock trading programs are heavily single threaded) and monitor support that I wanted. The old argument getting more bang for your buck with x86 architecture machines isn't as clear cut as before. Also, with raising graphics card prices new and in the secondary market the value proposition isn't there for me (I don't game much anymore). So far my experience with the Mac Studio M4 Max has been wonderful. The machine never stutters and my trading applications are a lot more snappy then when I used them on my Windows 11 machine (it mostly has to do with the applications simply running better on Apple Silicon). I view this machine as an appliance and it just simply works is well worth the investment. It's a hassle free experience as compared to my AMD desktop where things would randomly fail or error. I had an opportunity to use Crossover 25 for Mac to help play Windows based games on Mac. The latest iteration provides a lot of performance improvements and more titles such as Red Dead Redemption II. Since this Mac Studio M4 Max has 32-GPU cores it gets very playable framerates across multiple titles. As long as you are not trying to play AAA newly launched titles or games that are online and require anti-cheat mechanisms it should be supported. Playing Windows games on a Mac is very feasible in 2025 and support for it is only going to get better moving forward. If the upfront costs of this machine is still pretty high to dissuade you then consider that the resell value of this machine a few years from now will still be very high as compared to reselling PC parts. Also, if you are using this machine to make money then it will pay for itself eventually with the time you save in either not having to wait for projects to render or not having to troubleshoot random component failures that costs you time. I only see myself upgrading from this machine maybe 2-3 years from now at minimum and will probably last me 4-5 years or something else comes out from Apple that is very compelling.

Having used windows since v1, I decided to move to a Mac platform, starting with a MacBook Pro about 5 months ago. I was impressed with how Apple has such a tight integration with the iPhone, watch, other Mac’s, etc., that I decided to replace my ryzen9 windows pc (which I built) with the Mac Studio. These days I focus on photography (Lightroom and photoshop), video editing, music recording, etc and the Mac Studio excels at these tasks. In addition, little things like Airdrop is so nice and much faster than any cloud service -iCloud, OneDrive, google drive etc. Previously when moving files between my MacBook Pro and windows, this caused delays and periodically issues when trying to use cloud services. Obviously using a flash drive or shares via networking would work but who wants to do that? Airdrop just works. This one feature- as simple as it is- really sold me. Especially between the iphone and any other mac offering. Stability- recently with windows little things such as pauses or delays with file manager were driving me nuts. In short when creating a folder it would take 4-5 seconds. Having troubleshooted this issue for weeks, I read it had to do with a redesign of file manager. This issue has come and gone over the years. This all occurred after an update. Registry changes and/or disconnecting external drives, etc seemed not to really help. I tried every fix with the exception of a reload of windows. So tired of the delays, moving to a new OS seemed like the right choice. To some this is minor issue, but when working with new photos, system delays just stifles my creativity. Storage- As you know, ssd upgrades are costly on a Mac. The work around is external drives. I bought the 512gb studio model and have added about 38TB of external drives and the speed transfer is great. I discovered that Mac OS and ntfs formatted drives do not work spectacular together. All drives have been formatted to Mac OS file system now. Navigating the new OS- Mac OS is very different from windows and I’m still adjusting. I need to read the manual. Overall the multitasking capabilities is robust and really haven’t caused me any issues with several apps open. Form factor- the size is fantastic. Previously my windows pc was a tower with 3 venting fans. The room heated up quickly when the pc was being used. The Mac Studio small design is very welcomed. It’s not noisy either. Transfer of apps- most all of the apps I used on my windows box, work on the Mac. The exception for me was an app that replicated/backed up files automatically. This was solved by finding the Mac equivalent that essentially does the same thing. The cost was nominal. If considering moving from windows to Mac, take an inventory of your key applications and make sure the same app functionally exists on the Mac. In some cases, you may need to buy new software. I look forward to creating things on the Mac Studio.

A Powerhouse for Video Editing and Coding

I purchased the Mac Studio M4 Max (36GB RAM, 512GB SSD) primarily for 4K video editing and coding, and all I can say is—this machine is incredible! Performance Coming from a MacBook Pro M2 Max (38-core GPU, 12-core CPU), I immediately noticed a huge leap in performance. The M4 Max makes editing high-bitrate 4K footage feel effortless, handling multiple layers, effects, and rendering without breaking a sweat. The responsiveness in video editing software like Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Premiere Pro is unmatched compared to my MacBook. Similarly, for coding, compiling large projects and running intensive workloads is noticeably faster. Whether it’s Xcode, Docker, or AI/ML workloads, the M4 Max powers through without any slowdowns. Storage – Don’t Overpay Apple! If you’re considering upgrading storage from Apple—don’t. The base 512GB SSD is fast, but internal storage upgrades are ridiculously overpriced. Instead, I opted for four 4TB Samsung SSDs, giving me a total of 16.5TB of ultra-fast external storage at a fraction of the cost. This setup works flawlessly for video editing, keeping large project files accessible without filling up internal space. Thermal Performance – Zero Overheating One of my biggest concerns with high-performance machines is thermal management, but the Mac Studio M4 Max stays impressively cool. Unlike some laptops that throttle under heavy loads, this desktop maintains consistent peak performance without overheating. Even during long video renders or complex AI model training, the system remains quiet and efficient. Verdict If you’re a video editor, developer, or power user, the Mac Studio M4 Max is an absolute beast. It’s significantly faster than my M2 Max MacBook Pro and provides desktop-level performance without compromise. Skip Apple’s storage upgrade and invest in high-speed external SSDs instead. Highly recommended!

I recently began searching for an upgrade to my old MacBook Pro, driven by the desire to have a machine that can handle various tasks with minimal effort. Initially, I considered MacBooks or Mac Minis equipped with the M4 Pro chip, but when I stumbled upon a reasonably priced open-box Mac Studio M4 Max, it was an obvious choice for me. Best Buy offered the best deal, even surpassing the price of a comparable used Mac Studio on eBay. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend the Studio over the Mini if you prioritize a flawless workflow and are one of those individuals who keeps their computer for over five years.

I love how stable this thing is the amount of ports available, and somehow it plays wow classic with a more stable framerate and about the same fps than my desktop while drawing 500 watts less power (just 100w max) i think i will be using this instead of my space heater of a desktop in the summer! ive been picking around xcode and blender and it seems to handle those just fine - i havent put it thru its paces yet but wow classic barely stresses the thing so i imagine it will rip thru most workloads just fine! iphone mirroring works great although apple pay doesnt work unless you have the touch id keyboard. its silent and the fans rarely turn on while staying cool just thru natural convection. If you wanna play some games after work this is the device for you!

This machine is unbelievable. It could run and never get warm. As fast as stable is quiet, unbelievably quiet there's no kicking us. This thing can really do a job fast for 32 courses and 36 gigs of RAM there seems to be no problem with anything I've run so far is one mean machine.

The Mac Studio M4 Max exceeded every expectation. I use it primarily for video editing, development, and some light gaming—and it handles everything effortlessly. The system stays whisper-quiet even under load, and it barely draws power compared to my older custom-built PC. Apps like Final Cut, Xcode, and Blender run smooth without hiccups, and the extra ports are a big plus for a clean desktop setup.

I upgraded from the M1 Max and although that was super powerful, this one just feels more fluid. It's also quieter than the M1. I haven't had the chance to push it yet, but I imagine I'll be pleased when that time comes.
