I use this machine for my small law practice, and I am very pleased with the scanning, printing and copying functions. The fax results are less than stellar so far, but that may be a problem on the recipient's side. The scanner took some work to set up to transmit documents in pdf form, rather than as individual images in jpg. or tiff., but its now automatic. I've gotten very good life out of the toner cartridge it came with, but the Brother replacements are pretty expensive, so I'm going to try off-brands and hope for the best. Print speed is excellent--just as good as much bigger machines I've used over the years. I've never had a paper jam or a bad copy.

We ordered the MFC-8480 DN because it was close to our previous model, the MFC-8860 DN (now expired). New feature we love - the paper tray has an extra guard to protect the paper from falling out, an improvement from our previous model. The only reason why we are not giving it a 5-star rating is because this model does not allow us to do manual 2-sided to 2-sided copying (one can only do 1-sided to 2-sided copying). This office used this feature on a regular basis. Other than that, it performs as well as the expired model. Overall, we would recommend it!
