It runs fast and is nice and compact on the desk. I will probably upgrade the memory in the future but for now it works perfect for what we need! I am very happy with it!

This computer filled the bill. It has plenty of storage, memory and speed for remote working from home. The setup is fast and easy, had this machine running in time. While there are machines with more speed and power, this one can’t be beat for someone who needs a good basic computer on a budget. The only thing that it lacks is enough USB connections on the back of it, I had to use one from the front of the computer to hook everything up.

Also, you can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. It's small, light, portable and durable, and < $280 price is reasonable. I had to spend hours to set it up twice and reload my programs. Other than that this one seems to be great. Very fast, huge 1TB memory and a great low price. More disappointed that they wouldn't fix it.

And, I needed to keep everything simple and familiar. Her only significant requirements were for using email and Internet surfing. I was able to easily set up this very inexpensive computer and show her how to operate it. We were able to use her old HD monitor, too. I'm sure this small PC is suitable for many other applications, so I can give it a good recommendation.

I bought it for internet (browsing, social media, watching YouTube), reading books (PDF and Kindle), watching movies, and writing documents. I would point at two good features for IdeaCentre 310S: First, the price is very good. Second, if you know what to expect from the hardware - it works great. Of course IdeaCentre is a bit slow, especially after the start (the processor is working on 100% for about a minute), but after that it works great depending on applications and tasks you initiate. If you consider using it for any resource-heavy tasks as editing photography in Photoshop or something like this - you'd better buy more RAM, or downgrade the system to Windows 7 (you have to have a Windows 7 though).

I really recommend that you do two things: 1) buy an ethernet cable - the wifi receiver is weak and cuts out often and 2) buy and install additional RAM. It's not hard. I recommend Crucial 8GB UDIMM DDR4 2666, which is compatible (not all RAM is created equal!!!)

Good little desktop for everyday things

It could have used 4 more GB of ram to really work. I'm pushing the limits of everyday use by running GNS3 networking labs (Cisco Routers under Dynamips) and Vmware guests in it. It does have the AMD-V for virtualization. It kind of slows down when the 4 GB memory gets close to maxing out. Firefox web browser likes to eat a lot of memory especially on complex web sites like Facebook. It's hanging in there though. I heard it doesn't have cooling fans ... but I haven't seen temperature warnings like I saw on my old machine. Even while watching HD video content. It's playing movies and videos just fine. I like that it had HDMI for audio and video right out of the box. I never used Bluetooth and I don't put it on WiFi but it has both of those as well. I've had it about a month now ... and I'm keeping it. :-) :-)

I got off the phone tried option one and all has been fine since. overall the unit is a good value for the money and a idea unit for a retired guy just doing surveys and web browsing.

With only 4 GB Memory it is very slow

I added 12 GB memory for a total of 16 GB and changed the hard drive to 1 TB Solid State Drive (Samsung V-Nand SSD) This made a world of difference. So for the price of the computer and an extra $120.00 for the upgraded SSD and Memory it is well worth it.

We do not stream movies or do any online gaming so there was no need for advanced graphics or such...but, from what I've seen doing the basic stuff, this machine could keep up if needed. The size is right and I got our computer off the floor and on the shelf minimizing wiring and messy set-up.

Windows 10 seems a little doggy at times and the subscription to office 10 is somewhat aggravating at times, though it could easily be me. Hate the fact I have to tell it to save to the computer instead of the cloud. I do like the fact that if it saves to the cloud I can access documents on my phone. The one problem I have run into was when I tried upgrading the ram to 16 gigs, the computer would not startup, just sat there. Removed one memory stick and the computer started right up. Changed it out with the removed stick, computer started right up. My conclusion is either there is a glitch in the firm ware or it is not up-gradable to 16 gigs like they say. The other issue is the constant notifications from Lenovo, almost daily.

You can add a second stick of 4GB DDR4-2666MHz. If you are getting daily notifications from Lenovo, your 30-day trial subscription to McAfee virus protection software is most likely expired and your computer is no longer protected from virus. You do not need to use McAfee, you can uninstall McAfee and install any 3rd. party virus protection software you choose.
