Take the Bad with the Good.

The dishwasher is OK. It has some drawbacks. The biggest drawback is the way most of the space on the inside is made for a specific size and shape of dish. The prongs on the bottom rack that are intended for plates are slanted to the side, meaning it can really only hold plates. When I put my large water goblets there, they simply tip over. With half the bottom rack dedicated to plates (with the plates slots spaced too closely together to use for much else) the remaining space is limited. There's a silverware basket there, which I've resorted to removing, to try to make space for more dishes. It's difficult to put in a large frying pan without crowding in on the plates. The very top rack is for silverware and utensils. It is pushed absolutley up to the top of the interior, so that if you try to set a spatula, carving knife, etc., on its side for proper washing, it is knocked over when you try to pull the door open or closed. Forks and knives that do fit have to be painstakingly layed into the little slits--and again, the slits vary in size so that many things only fit in one particular slit--so good luck if you have more than a couple of a particular item. You could use the silverware basket on the lower rack, but of course then you won't have room for all of your dishes. I was excited to have the little holder for stemware, (middle rack) until I found that it will only accomodate a very narrow "stem", like would be on a chamagne flute, etc. My water goblets, that we use for everything, did not fit there after all. The goblets also would not even fit standing up, until I lowered the middle rack as far as it would go. This will ultimately interfere with any "tall" things that I want to wash on the bottom. And again, with the middle rack, the majority of the prongs on the rack are slanted, meaning things have to face a certain way, and you have to brace tall items against other things so that they won't just flop over. Very frustrating. Places to stand things properly upright are very limited, and this rack has to be used on it's lowest setting, or it's simply too narrow for many things. A very problematic thing is that there is no "full" indicator on the rinse-aid dispenser. As near as I can tell, you have to guess as to when it's time to add. And then when you do, the rinse aid simply runs out the cracks of--and out the bottom of-- the dispenser. Is it defective? I don't know. It's been like this since day-one. There is no section of the owner's manual addressing this. And forget about the "crystal dry" setting. Are the dishes drier than they were with the old washer? Yeah, but there are still water droplets on many dishes and of course puddles inside of all the nooks and crannies where the water can't drain away. Nothing is dry as a bone. The dishes come out clean enough, but you'll still have to rewash the frying pans and deep kettles as usual. Would I buy it again? Maybe. But first I would look for a dishwasher with straight up-and-down prongs on its racks, (spaced a little farther apart) so that I could put what I want, where I want, without my tall glasses falling over and without the interior space being so cut-up, specialized, and compartmentalized that it severely limits how you load it. In the end, despite having three racks instead of two, this dishwasher holds fewer dishes.

    Rack-afrackus

Nice and quiet. Difficult to load. Racks are all slanted. We would have preferred them straight or movable. Third rack pretty much works for silverware only. Cleans well, does decent job on plastic drying. Guy that installed it said his wife took their Bosch out after 2 weeks for above reason.

    Bosch 800

I purchased Bosch 800 to replace the one I used for 10 years. This product is very quiet and clean the dishes perfectly even with full loading. Crystal dry works fantastic dry and clean. I am really satisfied and it proves why Bosch ranks as top tier of home appliances.
