The FreeFlex third rack fits glasses, mugs, bowls, silverware and cooking tools, freeing up room below for pots, plates, and mixing bowls. The advanced clean water wash system circulates clean water to dishes in all three racks, and the fan-enabled ProDry system provides thorough drying, so dishes come out ready for more enjoying.
FreeFlex third rack
The large third rack has a deep, angled design that fits 6" glasses, mugs, and bowls.
It features rotating wash jets to clean items in the rack, a drying bar with tabs that help wick moisture off glasses, and a removable utensil tray for cooking tools. (Among leading brands based on usable volume.)
44dBA
Provides quiet cleaning without compromising performance, so there's no need to wait to run a wash cycle, while entertaining and enjoying meals, even in open concept kitchens.
Advanced clean water wash system
Uses microfiltration to continuously remove food particles during the wash and rinse cycles and circulates clean water to dishes in all three racks. This allows dirty cookware and delicate glassware to be washed together in the same load.
ProWash cycle
Utilizes sensors to measure soil levels throughout the cycle and adapts wash time and water temperature as needed for tough messes or lighter loads, because no two meals or the dishes that result are exactly the same.
PrintShield finish
Resists smudges and fingerprints. The specialized coating for stainless steel is easy to clean with just water and a soft cloth, so you can spend more time cooking and less time cleaning up the kitchen.
Adjustable middle rack
Adds flexibility to fit tall items, such as a stand mixer bowl. Lower the rack to place large dishes inside, or raise it to make room for platters, pitchers, blender jars and more in the rack below.

- A: AnswerI was compare shopping the 404KPS and 604KPS. The big difference I saw was the "Pro-dry" feature on the 604KPS. We spent the $100 and got the 604KPS. My wife says the Pro-Dry is worth the money. She says it works very well. It dries much better than any dishwasher we have ever had.

- A: AnswerSo I finally got in touch with someone at kitchenaid that was able to at least provide me some information. She said that the fan can run up to 8 hours after wash was completed or until the door is opened. I don’t think I have tried it for that long so I will let it hit 8 hrs and see if it turns off and report back

- A: AnswerHi RPMM. The pump is protected from large objects entering it by the foreign object cup in the front and below the lower rack. The maintenance free filter system does not require any regular cleaning or maintenance. If this cup fills up with particles or objects, depress the tab in the center and pull up on the cup to remove it. Dispose of the contents and then replace the cup. Best dishwasher ever owned so far
We have owned multiple dishwashers over the years and can honestly say that this Kitchenaid puts them all to shame. We have only had it a week, so can’t speak about the longevity. However, here are the pros so far: 1) so quiet you literally have to look to see if its on and our kitchen and living area are open; 2) seems very substantial in construction, e.g. door is much heavier than previous dishwashers; 3) really holds lots of dirty dishes, especially with the third rack; and 4) cleans the dishes really well. My only cons: doesn’t dry as well as I had hoped unless the pro dry option is selected; 2) not much flexibility for adjusting tines on bottom tray; and 3) I really dislike the silverware basket, it is way too large, taking up valuable space for dishes, and it cannot be split into two smaller individual baskets. I really think Kitchenaid needs to look at changing this to be more flexible. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend it to others.

Quiet and spacious, but runs too long
First the positive: It is large inside, fits everything our family of four dirties in one day. It also cleans well. I usually soak dishes in some water if they'll sit around all day so any dishwasher should clean it well. Finally, it's quiet, very quiet. We've had it for two months and use it daily. My big complaint is that it doesn't have a quick wash. The 'express wash' is an hour and ten minutes. Really? And if you don't stop it right after that it goes on drying for hours. This isn't what I want. Why not a half hour cycle like my old one? It should at least be an option for those who want it. I stopped it after an hour just to see and everything was perfectly clean. Annoying. My electricity bill went up. Some efficiency standards! Things that run for longer don't save energy, they use more. Don't tell me it is more efficient, I won't believe it. One more thing - the top rack is awesome. You can actually fit a lot up there like cups and spatulas and shallow bowls.

Love love this dishwasher!!
I absolutely love this dishwasher, the 3 racks are great and it is the quietest dishwasher I have ever had. I never thought my coffee mugs could be white again on the bottom. Every time I do a load of dishes I tell my husband,I love this dishwasher. My other ones made my glasses cloudy even with soft water and jet dry. This one actually made the glasses clear again. I would recommend this dishwasher 100 percent!!
