A: You need the ability to connect and your phone has to have the power/Ability to run the drive and access the drive. So, Yes and No. You need a USB 2 that connects to data, not just power. I would not do it, but I am not you.

A: I think so, but I would not do it. This uses a USB C connection. Not as fast as you'll need. Think SCSI drive with a 200 serial bus. However, it can be reformatted anyway you want. For that matter, just daisy chain them. get a port replicator and connect as many as you want. USB3+ speed.
