I'm in love with this fan! I live on the bottom floor of an apartment building and wanted something to help cool the air in my bedroom. Space in my bedroom is at a premium, so I really wanted a fan that took up little space but was powerful. This fan is excellent. I have locks on my windows so they only open a small amount, for safety. I was a little worried that the fan would be too big, but it fit the space perfectly.

So far so good. We've had this for about three weeks and it is doing what we had hoped. We don't have a ceiling fan in our main bathroom, so when we shower, the whole room steams up and the walls are dripping and so on. We've tried setting fans in the doorway and leaving the door cracked while showering and that did not work. Having this in the bathroom window works great! The room does not steam up, no dripping walls etc.
A couple of downsides, and why I gave it a four-star:
1) We can't lock our window, so we have to remember to take the fan out of the window if we're not at home, which is sort of a pain because now we have to store it somewhere i.e., set it down in the shower.
2) The back of the fan hits our screen so we are not able to set the fan fully into the window frame as it is intended unless we remove the screen. Which we don't want to do because then any bug will be able to crawl right inside. Overall, it works great! It easily switches from blowing in to blowing out the window.

Bringing the cool in or blowing the heat out, this fan is perfect. I was beginning to wilt in my office and needed an affordable means of cooling down. I was concerned about it fitting in the window, but the various-sized matching foam that comes with it handles that concern quite nicely.

This is a great fan for the window. Well built, blows strong with three setting. Brings the cool air, refreshing the space. Not a five start because of the small gabs left from the spacers. Fix is electrical tape matching the color.

It works flawlessly and transitions smoothly from fan to exhaust. If it was as powerful as it looks I'd rate it 5 stars but I was moderately disappointed in the power. It just looks more commercial grade than it actually is but well worth the price and sleeker than traditional window fans. Also it offers more privacy than a traditional window fans by design.

Except for not having a remote this fan is just the thing we were looking for.
It affords full privacy in our bedroom window and the air flow is very good.
Slick design and easy basic controls.
We are going to buy one for the bathroom to.
Privacy and not having to physically turn the unit around for intake or out take was what we were looking for.

It's a pretty cool fan to be honest. The airflow is great, and you can choose if you want to blow air in or out. It's really neat overall, EXCEPT..... there's an annoying rattling noise when it's running! Almost as if the blades are hitting against something inside it.
I returned the item and bought another one from another seller, figuring it was just the one that was defective, but... nope, I guess it's a common thing. With the second unit, I found that if I turn the fan vertically, the rattling stops and it's almost silent. Bliss. But, the instructions specifically say that the fan should not be used vertically, so...
Also, the foam space-filler things didn't really fit right in my window, they weren't tall enough. I was able to put the smallest pieces beneath the larger pieces and that lifted them up to be tall enough, so it kinda worked out in my case. But just know it may vary
Either way, i'm a noise freak and I just can't stand the rattling, so I'm going to be returning the second unit too. So close to being really cool!

A:Yes it could. It needs 24 inches tall opening and window opened 6 inches. But it is preferred there be a window screen outside. If not, get some screen material from hardware store or Walmart and attach a piece over the openings across the back side of it before installing. I personally did not have any screen so I occasionally have a few unwanted moths and mosquitos to deal with but it's near my desk so I keep a fly swatter handy. Soon I will take it back out for the hottest part of summer and install screening myself. I hope this helps. My idea is to hot glue the screen the the fan.
A:The Portal Window Fan is designed for horizontal installation only. Using it in the vertical orientation can put a strain on the motor and could affect the output and longevity.
