Def worth the price. You get what you pay for. QUALITY. Use this for architectural photos, and with it's 188 degree angle of view it is PLENTY to capture entire rooms from one corner. Some slight distortion (as to be expected with super wide angle lenses), and minor vertical issues but these can easily be fixed with photo editing software. Bright colors, super crispy details, and it's sweet spot is around f8, which breaks the 3600 mark on Imatest. Lens does weigh almost 2 pounds, and if shooting into the sun you will get some minor sun and lens flares, but also to be expected with a super wide lens. Love how it has a 9 blade circular diaphragm which makes the BOKEH beauteously round and not like a polygon. Also made in JAPAN, not in China like some of the cheaper NIKKOR lens tend to be from. So happy with this lens. So happy i want to purchase another one as a backup. lol!

Best lens for Aurora photography so far

I have wanted this lens for some time now and tried making due with some cheaper lens ie Tokina and Rokinon but while much cheaper in price, the coma and edge distortion bothered me to the point of buying one. I so far have zero regrets on this purchase and it is allowing me to get some very detailed aurora pictures that I have not been able to do so far with the quality of the field. Though, it makes sense after thinking about the premium telescopes(Astrophysics, Zambuto, ASA, and RCOS) I use for deep sky imaging so one can not cheap out on wide field or you will notice it and it will bother you eventually. It is a heavy lens but then again most of my telescopes are at least 30 lbs up to 210 lbs so don't cheap out on the tripod either. Mated to my Nikon D810, my wide field imaging is producing great results. I know most of the coma and distortion can be processed out but I personally like to get the best quality raw prior to any processing. Something I have done in the beginning of astroimaging. So far the lack of an easy filter system has not been a bother since I look for dark skies so I do not need to use deep sky filters and haven't did any daytime landscape images that could benefit in a polarizing filter but I believe there are a few options though a little pricey but still a workable solution.

I've been in Photography for 15 years and this lens is on my bucket list for years. I have now completed my so called trinity lens for my Nikon system. This is a superb lens for landscape and events, especially in a tight small venue! With an f/2.8 fixed aperture, you can't be wrong buying this lens! Excellent lens and this is always inside my camera bag! I included in this review my most recent picture taken with this lens!

I love this lens.. I can get super close and obtain striking photographs. I can also fit a lot in only a short distance is needed to fit everything perfectly. Although i am a beginner/novice at photography, lenses like this make me look like a professional. I am shooting on the D500 by Nikon, and I could not be happier with this camera. I am considering buying another full frame camera..FX... just for the heck of it.. I may give the D500 to my wife or daughter whichever wants it.

I waited to buy this lens because I'm not a professional photographer and am not generally into shooting landscapes or architectural photos which seemed to be the primary use among other photographers, but I'm glad I have it now. It takes very nice, sharp photos, and it does expand the range of possibilities, particularly when shooting outdoors. I recently took it with me to the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan, and got a couple of nice shots.

I have now had this lens for about a month with zero regrets. I typically shoot with a 50mm prime and an 80-400mm, i find my self leaving the 50mm in the bag and getting a little closer with this lens. Amazing for landscape photography, astrophotography, and even portraits. I have this lens paired with a D850.
A:Yes. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Ultra-Wide Zoom lens will fit and work well with the Nikon D3400. This FX-format lens is optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness on both FX- and DX-format Nikon D-SLR cameras. When used on a DX-format camera, like the D3400, this lens will have a maximum angle of view of 90° and a minimum angle of view of 61°. It's a remarkable addition for any growing DSLR camera bag.
A:Yes, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm F2.8G ED lens is a great lens for astrophotography. This ultra-wide angle zoom lens is fast and allows you to get the full expanse of the night-time sky with edge-to-edge sharpness.
A:Yes, the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens is an ideal lens for real estate photography with a Maximum Angle of View of 114° on FX format cameras. On a DX format camera the Maximum Angle of View is 90°. If you are shooting with a DX format camera, you may also wish to consider the AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED lens which is a DX format lens with a Maximum Angle of View of 109°.
A:It is a very fast lens (f/2.8) lens which would be great for sports but you would have to get much too close to fill the camera frame.
Better options would be the 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8
