I have a dark room dedicated to an Alienware computer and triple monitor setup. Lights off it was easy to get “lost” on the keyboard. This not only has the benefits of an amazing performing mechanical keyboard the lights are perfect. Not to bright and the ability to program them to individual games is just an extra plus! Highly recommend to any setup!

Bought this at a Bestbuy store. Surprisingly nice and durable for its price. Good choice for an introductory level mechanical keyboard.

Weather gaming, working, or simply typing a email or paper, this is an excellent keyboard no matter how you look at it. I use it when working from home, and afterhours for gaming. The simple white backlight makes this ideal for a general workspace and most gaming setups. Unless full RGB color is a must-have for you, this is a real elegant option. Though a keyboard with metal construction would be heavier with a more solid overall feel, as far as plastic construction goes, the G610 has excellent build quality all-around. The Cherry MX Red switches are very responsive, smooth, and quiet. If you want audible or tactile feedback with your keystrokes, you will have to look elsewhere.
The downloadable software allows for backlight adjustment and setup of gaming profiles, though it is also possible to adjust default backlight behavior without the software. Simply hold the Backlight button and press the top-row number keys to change default backlight behavior. Using software you can adjust key-by-key illumination, including the "G" logo, lock indicators, and media keys. I love this feature as it allows key illumination to be very bright, barely illuminated, or off entirely. I like the backlight to really only appear illuminated in a darkened room, which is something I am thankfully able to accomplish with the keyboard via the software.
The only thing this is arguably missing is a wrist rest. At this price point, including a wrist rest is becoming increasingly common, and would add value to this product. That said, the keyboard is excellent enough on it's own, so I can't justify lowering the rating because of this. Though I do suggest pairing this with a wrist rest of your choice for the best experience.

I have never owned a mechanical keyboard solely because of price. So expensive. This one is under 80 dollars!!These are Cherry Mx Red switches which take time to get use to as they are EXTREMELY sensitive.Super bright back lighting though only white in color(who cares).Slim chassis (I can't stand palm rests) volume wheel that I loved about my last Logitech, cheap price.I recommend this to anyone.I am not a gamer whatsoever but do type a lot.

Simplistic design, responsive, one LED drawback

Great keyboard. Love the simplistic design, responsive feel of red switch, and the overall solid feel of the build quality. Works very well with the Logitech Gaming Software.
The only problem/drawback is that the LED lights will not turn back on if the computer sleeps or shutdown when the LED is turned off by pressing the LED button on the keyboard; only the G symbol lights back up. The problem can be fixed by reseting the computer after turning the lights on via LED button. Does not really bother me because I use the lights just to see the keyboard at night with the room light off.

A solid mechanical keyboard

Works well as a quality mechanical keyboard
- it clicks (there are quieter mechanical keyboards) but some like the clicks
- it is backlight - a nice feature, but you must install the (free) Logitech app or it may go into display mode fading the lights or doing bizarre things.
- it is incredibly responsive - fast for typing, but half presses you got away with in a cheap keyboard will be detected. A tiny learning curve, but way better once learned.
- cord is thick and braided - avoids damage, but makes it a bit less flexible.
- no USB hub - some keyboard offer a port or 2, but this does not. Fine, but one feature that would have been nice.
- game mode button disables Windows key. A perk for gaming, but u till you learn what it does you might be hitting your windows key repeatedly wondering why it doesn't work.
- solid media controls with a good quality feel, especially to the volume roller.
All in all, this is a solid mechanical keyboard. I bought it for work, not gaming, and am happy with my purchase. If you want colors or a USB hub included look elsewhere, but otherwise this provides a very solid backlit mechanical keyboard experience for a reasonable price.

I went to Best Buy looking for a premium keyboard and looked and looked and couldn't find anything but the usual mushy $25-40 keyboard by Logitech & Microsoft. I asked one of the associates and he asked if I'd seen their gaming keyboard; I had not.
I had originally picked out a different product with per-key full RGB backlighting. Although that was pretty cool, I was surprised to find out that it actually had two USB cables (one for the keyboard and one for the onboard USB port -- which turns out is just an extension off the 2nd usb pigtail). Though I really liked the keyboard, I realized I really didn't care about the per-key full RGB lighting, and the 2nd USB pigtail really annoyed me (I was connecting it to a laptop with only a single USB port). So I returned it and picked up the Logitech G610.
The Logitech G610 has only white lighting, and I *think* it might have per-key lighting options, but that's just not what I really care about, so I've not checked into it. They keyboard is still doing the slow rolling wave as configured right out of the box.
I've never been a media keys user, and almost all of these premium keyboard have dedicated media keys. I was surprised how quickly I fell in love with the rolling volume control. I love that it's right here and I don't have to control volume on screen with the mouse. In fact, the media key and rolling volume control are some of my favorites.
Gaming keyboards each have very specific make and model of keys in them, each with a different feel. I can't keep track of Cherry (brand) "brown" from "red" and it even seemed that some of the products had Cherry "speed" keys in them (the first one I bought and subsequently returned). Although I can't remember which model keys are in this keyboard, I can tell you that they are particularly smooth and easy to use; especially fast to type on. They're almost too fast; I'm still getting used to the keyboard and sometimes get keystrokes out of sequence, or even accidentally type another key (or double-tap a key) because of how easy this keyboard is to type on. The keys are smooth with no particular tactile or audible feedback. On the other hand, they're also fairly quiet to use.
Originally, my goal was to find a bluetooth keyboard (to go alongside my bluetooth mouse) because I didn't want to have to plug anything into my laptop when using it at my desk. The wireless requirement kinda went away when I discovered a number of other devices that I wanted to connect via USB (to a laptop that has only a single USB Type A port), so I pulled out one of my powered USB hubs and now the keyboard is just one of the devices attached to the hub. In the end, I much prefer the performance of this keyboard over the convenience of not having to plug anything into my laptop.
The G610, although in the gaming department, doesn't have any of the notable extras that gaming keyboards often have (like the extra rows of function keys, or programmable keys on the left side). This keyboard is very much the traditional 101-key of yesteryear, with the standard 12 function keys across the top, the ESC key set apart in the top left, the traditional inverted-T set of arrow keys and the 2x3 arrangement of insert/delete, home/end, and pg-up/pg-dn, and the convenient 10-key on the far right. I've been using a Microsoft Natural keyboard for so many years (which moved some of the standard positions of keys), so I'm still getting used to where some of the keys are. Seems like I routinely, accidentally hit the F11 or F12 keys while browsing, which of course, do crazy things like go full screen or open debug panels in the browser.
Overall, this is a fantastic keyboard with a great feel in the traditional 101-key layout.

I researched mechanical keyboards for probably 6 months before deciding to purchase this keyboard. My main purpose in purchasing a mechanical keyboard was to get one I could use for gaming, but also use at work without drawing too much undue attention. For me, the pros of this keyboard are the following:
- Keys are responsive enough for gaming, but the Cherry Red switches aren't so loud that I disrupt my coworkers
- Keys are back-lit, but the light is clear and not other gaudy colors that would be inappropriate for work (even though the rainbow colors are super cool when gaming)
- Keyboard looks pretty generic overall. You probably wouldn't think the keyboard looked strange at all in an office setting unless you were familiar with the big Logitech gaming logo on the top corner.
- Gaming mode button is easy to use and convenient
- Music controls are nice
- The volume control wheel is especially nice
- Price point is good
- Durability/quality of this keyboard far outperforms any other non-mechanical keyboard I have ever purchased
I can't really think of any cons whatsoever. This keyboard is literally exactly what I wanted. I do plan to purchase another Logitech mechanical gaming keyboard at some point that is a bit more flashy, but when I do, I will leave that one at home for gaming and this one at work instead of hauling this one between both places.
A:You can change a lot of the effects. You can choose to have no light effect, have it light up on key press, keep it on always (and can change the lighting intensity). I attached a picture of the software you have to download to take advantage of these features. Lots of adjustment though.
