I love this product. Though I was skeptical, it has door everything it advertises. The only downside is the capacity, but you can work around that issue while cooking the rest of your meal. The food comes out crispy not greasy and there is not greasy smell. Also clean up is easy, the nonstick surface allows for quick cleanup.. I'm impressed!

My wife & I love fried foods, but we quit preparing & eating them years ago to avoid obesity & to lower blood pressure. We switched to baking foods that we used to fry. The flavor took getting used to, but it never satisfied like fried food. While our bodies are better off after our change in diet, we miss the golden brown, fried crunch.
This Philips Hot Air Fryer delivers the most juicy, perfectly fried taste, texture & appeal of yesterday, with barely any oil required - 80% less oil required than in a deep fryer! This also lowers your cost & disposal requirement of a quart or 2 of used cooking oil.
At the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo, researchers from Miami University showed results of a study comparing conventional deep fried French fries to hot air fried and oven baked. Both the oven baked and hot air fried potatoes used much less oil than the deep fried ones. Here is the shock: the hot air fries contained only half as much oil as the oven baked fries! They contained only 1 tablespoon per batch.
Anything you fried traditionally can be adapted, hot air fried & it will taste, feel & look conventionally fried!
Here are a few of our favorite entrees we have fried so far:
1- Chicken
2- Liver
3- Fish
4- Squash
5- Pickles
6- French Fries
7- Shrimp
LIKES:
1- Dishwasher clean up - both the tub and basket are made for a dishwasher
2- Healthy eating with "sinful" flavor
3- Dependable, repeatable operation; perfect fried flavor every time
4- Money saving (cooking oil)
5- "Green" (oil disposal is reduced 80%)
6- Trusted Brand (Philips)
7- Modern, streamlined appearance blends into any kitchen & takes very little counter space, compared with larger Air Fryers
8- Non stick coating for fast cleaning
9- Keep Warm function
10- Quick Control dial with 4 presets
DISLIKES:
1- I prefer a digital window to read larger numbers like the Philips Avance Collection
2- Best suited for 1 person, due to the small size. It may be beneficial to consider a larger Philips Air Fryer in the Avance Collection if you fry for more than 1 person
USAGE HINTS:
1- Lay larger items on parchment paper in the Air Fryer to avoid any mess, whatsoever
2- Make sure flour has a paste consistency so as not to leave dust & to look more appetizing
CONCLUSION:
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Philips - Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer!! We are so excited to regain the delicious fried flavors without the guilt! Honestly, chicken fries up with moist inside / golden brown crispy outside with the best flavor we have ever tasted!!

Best Hot Air Fryer from Philips

Philips Air Fryer certainly working as expected. We have cooked fries, onion rings and banana and all came out very crisp and taste is awesome.
I really like using this air fryer to cook crisp foods by using hot air rather than a lot of messy / unhealthy oil. It cooks really fast. The controls are very easy to set temperature and time. The basket can be released with one button click. The unit is little loud while cooking. The design is very elegant and it can fit in a cupboard.
The manual is not great and very difficult to follow the instructions. This particular model missing many useful accessories as listed on the box. The cookbook that is included is very helpful. I prefer to use the phone app which is simpler to use. This fryer can be used to Fry, Bake, Grill and Roast. It is very easy to clean. Please be careful while using the basket and gets very hot. Also, another issue is it comes with very short card which limits where you can place it.
Overall, it is excellent product for cooking and definitely a great alternative for deep frying.

This is a review of the Philips - Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer in black. I have only seen air fryers on late night tv infomercials, and as such I assumed they were greatly exaggerating their abilities as it happens so often. I also assumed that if I ever bought one that it would be yet another specialty appliance that would be used a few times and then collect dust for the rest of eternity. So what is the truth when it comes to the Philips - Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer? Read on to find out why I love it.
I will start out by saying that for the last few years I have been mostly sticking to a low carb, low calorie diet, and as such a lot of my meals are mostly variations of meat recipes. For the most part I always keep a lot of meat in the fridge that I cook up in a crock pot because the crock pot is easy to use, and produces some really tender and tasty meat. I do admit however that even with plenty of variations on that theme I do still miss my fried foods. That is what led me to take a chance on the Philips Air Fryer. Is it as easy to use as the crock pot? Does it produce the same high quality results with a minimum of effort? The answer is absolutely yes.
The air fryer itself is actually similar in size to my standard crock pot if you were to stand it up vertically. It's a little large, but overall I have no real problems with its size. Assembly was super easy, and intuitive. Its very easy to clean. It's equally easy to operate. There is a reference chart right on the appliance that shows time and temperature required to cook a variety of foods. All you have to do is put your food in the basket, set the temperature and turn on the timer. Just like that you are cooking. I truly believe anyone can use this and get great results with a minimum of effort.
My first test was to make some breaded chicken strips. I took a pack of chicken tenders and coated it with flour, egg wash, and panko bread crumbs. It was now the moment of truth. When I fired up the air fryer you can definitely hear the fan start circulating the hot air. It is a little loud, but not a annoyance. Fifteen minutes later to my delight I had golden brown super crisp chicken strips. The inside was as tender as could be. I was amazed! And the best part was I didn't use a drop of oil to make it.
Some thoughts:
PROS
Easy to set up
Easy to clean
Excellent results with a minimum of effort
LOW FAT FRIED FOODS!
CONS
A little loud
A little large
Glossy black finish (I prefer matte)
The basket could be a little larger.
I am super impressed with this appliance. If you are on the fence I say give it a try and you won't be disappointed. I have no doubt I will use this regularly. This one wont be collecting dust. Thanks Philips!

It Is A Healthier Option

I'm happy that a healthy cooking option is available to me and others for many favorite foods such as fries and wings. To start off I think it is easy to use and operate. The model I have do seem out dated because of the dial timer and other aesthetic features but the box have a 2015 date so maybe I just received an older version. After looking online Philips do offer digital and other models that seems more updated. I tried wings, baked potatoes and even mozzarella sticks and they all tasted good. I downloaded the Philips recipe app and I will try the recipes so I can get more use out of my new hot air fryer. It's easy to clean but it is a little on the heavy side for my fiancé when she is emptying out the basket. I dislike fryers because of after a few uses it becomes greasy but because this Philips use little to no oil I think I'll be fine. When it comes to the price I think it should be lower because regular fryers are a fraction of the price. I will say it is a great product but I don't think the price is attractive. Also be prepared to buy accessories so you can take advange of more recipes. Be healthy and eat healthy!

Good appliance that works as its supposed to. This is my first air fryer so I don't have anything to compare it to. However it worked well. In my opinion this is basically a smaller oven that cooks food faster due to rapid heat circulation. I think air fryer is a stretch. Works better for meats than items such as French fries, where the oil/deep fry is key to the flavor. Overall a 4.5/5 but I'm not convinced I would purchase another air fryer.
Pros:
Easy to use
Quick set up
Cleans easily
Comes apart into pieces to achieve thorough cleaning
Doesn't take a huge amount of counter space, smaller footprint than my toaster oven
Cons:
Thermostat is analog dial type. At the price point I would expect to see a digital thermostat for more accurate temperature control.
Can only turn on/ off using dial timer. No settings to keep food warm.
No ability to program on/off time.
Short cord
Not really big enough to feed four, nor enough space to cook a medium/large whole chicken, only the smaller ones.
Overall not very spacious
If you are looking for a basic air fryer at this size, this will do the job. It works as it should. Food comes out warm, cooked, and tasty. However I would not consider this to give the real flavor of fried food, just the texture.

This really has been a treat to use! I am really impressed with the results. We are having so much fun with it that we keep digging thru the freezer looking for more things to try in it. And the results with everything we have tried have been great!
The unit itself couldn't be simpler to use. It is as simple as placing what you want to cook in it, set the temperature and the timer and that's it. It doesn't make any more noise than a small microwave. Cooking times are fast as well. And cleanup is very easy.
As for the food, it really does turn out awesome! Although you can cook with a little bit of oil if you like, so far we haven't used any. The flavors are great, fries are crispy, and chicken is tender & juicy. All of this and it is much healthier. What more could you ask for?

In my household we tend to cook the same meals every week. I don’t really mind it, but a little variety can really spice things up when it comes to weekly dinners. I did a little research and decided on adding an Air Fryer to the mix. This Air Fryer from Philips is a very easy device to use. It’s my first foray into Air Frying so I don’t know if all of them are this easy, but this model is wonderful.
To get started, you simply clean out the unit and add the base to the frying basket. Then you add the food you want to cook, set the timer and temperature, and you walk away. When you hear the ‘ding’ you know your food is done and ready to eat. It’s really that easy. I discovered that the most ‘difficult’ part of air frying is deciding on a recipe. The rest is really a cake walk.
To test out the Philips Air Fryer, I decided to make some homemade French fries. I usually make these on the stove top in a frying pan full of oil. I select a few potatoes, peel them, and cut them into a decent size fry. Then, group by group, I drop them in the frying pan. Oil pops and creates quite a large mess every time I do this, but the family really enjoys them so I’m doomed to clean up the oily mess. I’m also not a big fan of the amount of oil/grease that we end up ingesting from these pan fried potatoes. So, making these in the Air Fryer was the first thing I wanted to try.
The instructions from Philips call for you to peel/cut the potatoes, soak them in water for 30 minutes, and then toss them in a 1/2 tablespoon of oil. Then you cook them for around 25 minutes on 350 degrees (timing depends on how many potatoes you are cooking). I must admit that the Air Fryer did a really nice job of making fries. They were toasty, browned nicely, cooked thoroughly, and they tasted great! We are thrilled that we found a way to cook our favorite snack with less oil and mess, but the same awesome taste.
I can recommend this Air Fryer based on the fact that it’s so easy to use.
A:From Philips web page " The removable nonstick coating drawer and food basket are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning"
I do not believe this is stainless steel, if it were it would be mentioned more than once I'm sure . But it is non-stick and was easy to clean.
