Hello. We appreciate you reaching out, though we hate to hear you aren’t happy with the look of the trim kit. Normally, we would expect the trim kit to be used to install the microwave in a cutout space that would hide the sides. We regret any inconvenience this issue may have caused, and we’ll certainly share your feedback regarding the trim kit with our team; your insights are appreciated, as we always want to know what our consumers think of our products. Your model, PEM31SFSS, is compatible with two trim kits, JX827SFSS and JX830SFSS. While those trim kits differ in their dimensions, they otherwise have a very similar design, so the other compatible trim kit may not be different enough in appearance for your needs. If you wanted to review the other trim kit more closely, you can do so by looking it up on our GE Appliances website and going to the product page. We hope this helps to clarify the matter.
