You can simply go into the TV settings and select the input "cable box" as default power up. Make sure you programmed your cable remote to control the TV and you should be fine after that.

"For details on how to set up your TV to work with universal remote controls, visit www.roku.com/universalremote." This shows the same codes for all ROKU TVs, regardless of brand. Same codes that are on the TCL site I listed above. You should be able to use the INPUT button on your XFinitnity remote to change input sources also. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do once you get it setup the way you want.

Also, per the manual, you can go to settings > system> power> power on And select where you want it to default to when powered on.

Go to Settings >> System >> Power >> Power On and choose what you want. https://support.tcl.com/rokutv-setup-configuration/02-set-what-your-tcl-roku-tv-displays-upon-power-on
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was told by a Best Buy that Insignia TVs are not compatible with Xfinity/Comcast remotes. This was a few years ago though so I cannot confirm that it's still the case. I can say that my Insignia TV does not connect to our Xfinity remote. I suggest asking the Best Buy staff.

As such you always have to make a choice when you turn on the device (i.e. the TV, which functions as a monitor) and make a choice as to the path that you take. When you choose to watch just the cable TV then the XFINITY remote works just fine. Since the XFINITY remote only accesses the TV functionality, and not the device choices, you always have to use the controller for the Roku to activate the device initially.
