Generally, the digital audio output cable would be a Toshlink to Toshlink cable and not the mini-Toshlink that is associated with this product. Actually, for digital signal, it can also be a coax cable, but most modern systems now use either the optical Toshlink cable or HDMI cable to transmit digital audio signal, or, in the latter case, audio and video signal. Of course, there is also the analog connections as well, but the digital is the route to go if your equipment is capable.
