Can backlight on keyboard be turned off null

Pressing Alt + the brightness button located at the top row of keys above the 7 and 8 keys. The keys look like a big sun and smaller sun. Press ALT plus the brightness up or down key. Continuously tapping increases brightness for the backlit keyboard; while pressing Alt + the smaller sun key continuously decreases the brightness and ultimately disables the backlit keyboard.
