Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My 10 year old has this laptop & I was just at Best Buy yesterday trying to see if the Oculus Rift S would work on this computer & the guy told me it won’t run on the nitro 5s sadly -_-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Even though this laptop has the Oculus Ready sticker on it saying that it's plug, calibrate, and play, it all depends on the graphic card installed. BE CAREFUL! While a NVIDA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti works, a regular NIVDA GeForce GTX 1050 does not work with Oculus' specifications. After unsuccessfully trying for 24 hours to hook up the Rift and this Acer laptop, I am waiting for Geek Squad to take a look at it and tell me that they messed up. I have even done some research online and unfortunately that's the same feedback that I'm getting. The folks saying that it works probably didn't look at the specs carefully. This was supposed to be my wife's birthday present and she has waited patiently for Best Buy to get their act together.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work if its a 2019 or later build. Ignore Acer's "advice". I brought an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-53AG for my son for school, as an intro gaming computer and to use with his oculus quest. Did my research and while Acer says it won't work and Oculus says the graphics card is not compatible, everyone who had used it with a newer built Nitro 5 said it ran 90% with the of the VR games using the Quest. I could take the risk that it wouldn't as I have an Acer Predator PH315-52 and figured my son could just use it with his Oculus Quest if his new computer didn't work. Guess what - it works fine. Honestly, Acer wants you to pay more then twice the price to buy a Predator and I think since Oculus has a contract with them, so, I think they go along with it. You will probably find a few games that it won't work with but is it worth twice the money to you to buy a Predator or give up the convenience of a laptop for a desktop
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here are the VR minimum specs: Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, 1050 Ti (due to Oculus' Asynchronous SpaceWarp), 1060, 1070 or 1080 GPU. RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 are the stronger alternatives. 8GB of RAM 4GB of VRAM. Two USB 3.0 ports HDMI 1.4 1920 x 1080 display Windows 8 or 10
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know this thread is from a while ago, but on the oculus compatibility test with the acer nitro 5, gtx1050, it says it meets the minimum for vr, and the steam vr compatibility test says the laptop is “capable” and close to the “be ready” section of the test.
