A:Answer This seems to be an issue with these models. Mine wouldn't even power on the day it arrived, I had to open it up and disconnect the battery, then hold the power button for 20 seconds, then plug the battery back in before it would power on.
After booting, I had the same issue with they keyboard... most keys didn't work. When I popped the back again, I saw that the ribbon connector for the keyboard was pushed into the connector, but the clips were not locked in place. I had to remove the tape holding the ribbon cable then properly insert the ribbon cable into the connector, *pressing the clips down to make them lock the ribbon cable into place*, then re-taped the ribbon cable to the circuit board.
On power up, everything worked now and I was able to connect to wifi and setup the device, etc.
I've owned a couple Acer laptops in the past though this is my first gaming one and I have to say, this is some pretty sloppy quality control. Someone who wasn't a certified laptop repair technician probably wouldn't figure all that out without a lot of searching. -2 stars to Acer for that botched job.
