• A:Answer When these speakers fail to have volume or do not play music, the Audio Chip has failed. It has been a common problem with many Altec Speakers. The chip is an easy replacement for any skilled tech person. If in is interested, I offer this service for a reasonable price. I will send instructions on disassembly and simply mail board to me. Q: QuestionWe bought the speaker Dec 23 from BestBuy in San Diego (Chula Vista) CA. The on/off button has ceased to turn on the speaker. The blue light flashes for a limited period. I was not able to perform the drain down technique. Common problem?

• A:Answer I had that sane thing happen to me.... in my case, someone had put the rubber casing on backwards so that my power button and volume + were switched. So when I figured that out I held the volume up button down and it turned on. So then I just took the cover off and put it back on the right way. :)

Q: QuestionWe recently brought this speaker when it works it's great. But after a few days nothing. Charging does not work. It does not pair and Best Buy replaces under the warranty but chargers more money. I do not know what else to do.

• A:Answer I purchased a brand new super life jacket such as yours and after a couple uses it did the same thing. It’s a 2019 model but I can’t get assistance from Best Buy or Altec Lansing. AL says they no longer keep parts for it and couldn’t tell me any reason it would quit like that. So my search is still on. Such a waste of $175.
